The Tailored Mahindra Bolero was spotted at Calicut, Kerala

Mahindra Bolero have been the best selling and most popular SUV of India for a decade. The rugged looking car is known for offering spacious comfortable cabin to the occupants and of course for its high performing characteristics. The SUV is all set to receive a facelift pretty soon, but meanwhile an one off Mahindra Bolero has caught our attention which was spotted at a Mahindra dealership in Calicut, Kerala.

Although not officially confirmed, but the rumor is that this specially customized Mahindra Bolero have been customized by the auto manufacturer’s in house customization wing, known as ‘Mahindra Customisation’. The customized Mahindra Bolero actually looks mean and very bold, and it seems whoever asked this vehicle to customize in this way, has a taste for mean machines.

At the front fascia of the customized Mahindra Bolero the stock bumper has been completely replaced by an all new off road specific bumper. The rear profile also gets a reworked off road spec bumper. Together these front and rear bumper makes the off roading tasks easier for the car, as these bumper improves the Bolero’s approach and departure angles. Other than that, the front fascia and the rear fascia comes with the identical usual stock features, which features large hawk eye headlamps, chrome embellished teeth like radiator grille with honey comb mesh. This means the customer of this vehicles have only wanted to enhance the practicality of off roading, not cosmetic restyling. Well, that is very much commendable indeed.

A few days ago a Maruti-Suzuki Vitara Brezza was spotted with heavy customization, which sported beefy wheel arch trims with studs. Now this customized Mahindra Bolero also comes with similar wheel arches, which also seem a bit uplifted as well. Along with the 180 mm of ground clearance this feature gives the car an aggressive off road worthy appearance and more space to the wheels in rough terrains as well. Apart from that the car also comes fitted with new footboards painted in Black as additional accessories.

One thing everyone will notice at the first look at the customized Mahindra Bolero, are the chunky tyres. The car comes fitted with steel rim wheels which have been painted in black, with red pin stripping and blue hubs at the centre wrapped by the thick Maxxis Bravo all terrain tires.


The customized Mahindra Bolero is based on the ZLX trim, which is the top end trim for Bolero. This means it comes with features like rear wash and wipe, voice messaging system etc. So, off roading in this car is pretty interesting.

Now there is one point which we would loved to change in the particular customized Mahindra Bolero. It comes with a 2WD configuration instead of a 4x4 guise. A 4x4 configuration would have helped the car to go to the farthest limits while off roading.


The Mahindra Bolero is powered by a highly efficient 2.5 litre m2DiCR diesel engine mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox, which generates 63 bhp of peak power at 3200 rpm and 195 Nm of peak torque between 1400 rpm to 2200 rpm.

The Mahindra Bolero has been known as one of the toughest and rigid cars on Indian roads since the auto manufacturer first rolled out the Bolero. The car is based on a strong ladder frame chassis. Suspension duty is done by independent suspensions with coil spring and anti roll bar, while the rear sports elliptical leaf springs. This means on the car can stay stable on rough terrains ensuring a comfortable journey for the occupants. Braking duty in the Mahindra Bolero is done by discs at the front and drums at rear.
