Mahindra is planning to launch its new sub 4 m compact SUV, the XUV300 on 14th February 2019 as per online reports. The day is also clashing with the media drives of the Honda Civic in Bangalore. The Mahindra XUV300 will be company’s first launch for 2019 with the next launch slated in 2-4 months from now.
Mahindra XUV300 is based on the Ssangyong Tivoli and has seen revisions for the Indian market. It is being positioned as a premium compact SUV which means it will rub shoulders with rivals like the Ford Ecosport. At launch, the XUV300 will come with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol will be a 1.2-litre turbo unit while the diesel will be a 1.5 turbo unit that we also see in the Marazzo. The XUV300 promises to offer best performance in the segment as per Mahindra. An action packed teaser video is already doing the rounds of the Internet.
The Mahindra XUV300 will be priced in the Rs 8-12 lakh bracket which means its higher versions will overlap with the entry level versions of the Hyundai Creta. In terms of design, we love the bold and modern front end and the machined alloy wheels add to the sporty appeal. Mahindra confirms the cabin will offer the maximum shoulder space in the segment and customers will get as many as 7 airbags depending on the version they pick.
The XUV300 will also benefit from other segment first features and will sell alongside the Alturas across key Mahindra showrooms in the country. Bookings are already open though demo vehicles are yet to arrive in showrooms. On paper, the XUV300 looks well packaged and a tempting sub 4m compact SUV. Mahindra has given this product enough time to make sure it comes across as a success and will integrate properly between the Scorpio and the KUV100.
