Even though Lexus has not official entered India, we see a lot of Lexus SUVs plying on Indian roads. And the most common vehicle is the LX SUV. So it is ideal for Lexus to enter the Indian market with the LX.
The full-size SUV has been on sale since 1996 and is in its third generation now. All three generations are based on the tough Toyota Land Cruiser.
The third generation of the car, also called the LX 570, made its debut at the 2008 New York International Auto Show. The 570 has received facelifts in 2010 and 2012. The latest facelifted version of the SUV was revealed at the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The major changes for the 2016 car are a redesigned exterior, more features, more safety equipment and a new automatic transmission.
Lexus is the luxury brand of the Japanese auto maker, Toyota and the LX is a more luxurious version of Toyota’s go-anywhere long-running SUV, the Land Cruiser.
Remember the Hoverboard from the movie back to the future? Yes! We all fell in love with the futuristic Hoverboard that actually floated in air, but that was a movie right, where everything could be achieved through the use of special effects. Now that Hoverboard surely attracted everyone’s attention back in the 80’s era, but we never actually thought that could be invented for real. However standing in the year 2015, we can proudly say that the Hoverboard is a reality now.
That’s right in this video you can actually watch the Hoverboard in action and the experienced skateboarders are actually playing with it and even performing some stunts. ‘NO’ it has no wheels and is not even connected to the ground by any hidden wheels or object, it actually floats in air.
The Hoverboard project was actually taken up by Lexus and it is revealed to public in a video and the whole experimenting and successful testing phase was completed in Barcelona. The Lexus Hoverboard project began almost 18 months ago by a team of scientist who specializes in magnetic levitation technology. Their team was determined to push the Hoverboard technology to its limit with the help of pro skateboarder and Hoverboard test rider Ross McGouran.
Now don’t get excited because there are some limitation for this Hoverboard actually, the skate park that you are watching in this video is a specially constructed one and consists of magnetic track. This park was transported to Barcelona, Spain from the Dresden facility located in Germany. The whole video footage that you are viewing is the final ride footage filmed by award winning director Henry-Alex Rubin. Unfortunately Lexus has no plans to sell the production version of this Hoverboard.
In the recently released movie Piku, he had a serious problem with her daughter in the driving seat of Toyota Innova, but in real life Amitabh Bachhan seems to have sheer passion to drive instead of sitting at the rear seats, and that passion comes with another interest, which is getting the luxury cars at his garage.
The success Amitabh Bachhan got in his long spanned career is beyond envy, just like his car collection. Presently he owns few of the most luxurious vehicles in the country, such as Rolls Royce Phantom, Bentley continental GT, Bentley Arnage R, Mercedes Benz SL500, Porsche Cayman S, Range Rover Vogue, Lexus LX470, Mercedes Benz E240, BMW X5, BMW 7 series, Mercedes S 320, Toyota Land Cruiser and many more.
Today we would like to take our readers to have a look at Big B’s garage.
Ambiguous. That been Lexus’s style of operation in Europe until recently and whether the Japanese manufacturer is planning to enter the Indian market remains unclear too. Various auto publications have reported on the possibility of Lexus entering India but nothing is certain so far. Lexus is not a completely unknown commodity for us Indians and the manufacturer processes reasonable brand recognition. If at all Lexus does plan to come to India then it would need to work on getting a defined image for itself like how the German trilogy of BMW,Audi and Mercedes has managed. The first car that Lexus could possibly bring to India would be the IS which competes with theBMW 3-series, A4 and the C-class and in the luxury segment anonymity could mean certain defeat, much like in the case of Volvo.
Toyota is going to challenge the German trinity at their own game by launching their luxury Lexus brand in India by 2013. Lexus was created by Toyota in 1989 and so far the presence of the brand has been significant only in the US and Europe. Toyota in fact didn’t launch Lexus in Japan till about two years ago and is still finding its feet in China.
Internationally Lexus has made its name and created a niche for itself away from the German luxury brands with its impeccable engineering and attention to detail. In the last few years Lexus has carved out a design language of its own and the brand has gained its reputation by providing luxury and performance on one hand and style on the other.
Yukitoshi Funo, Executive Vice-President, Toyota Motor said, “We have been watching India with keen interest. It is a recent decision we have taken. We are working on the launch date, product portfolio, sales network, etc.” Lexus cars will be sold in India not through the existing Toyota dealerships but via an exclusive network. “Lexus is a different brand from Toyota. Having independent stores is our global policy,” Funo said.
Toyota has yet to decide from its set of sedans and SUVs that would be introduced in India and the manufacturer has a list of luxury sedans like the LS600H which competes against the likes of the Mercedes S-Class, BMW 7-Series and SUVs which will compete with BMW X5, X3 and Audi’s Q7 and Q5. Toyota has also not ruled out looking at CKD assembly facility for its models. In the beginning however the Lexus models might be available in completely built units but considering the high import duties they will attract, Toyota would eventually have to consider an assembling plant in India. Another major concern would be the choice of diesel engines that the manufacturer decides to get considering the bulk of the sales in the luxury segment consists of diesel models. Currently it is only the IS200D sedan that is available in diesel.
