Now that the brand is trying to improve their upcoming vehicles, the next generation cars will come equipped with new design philosophy, new technologies and new ideas of course.
Land Rover has already showcased the new concept of future Discovery vehicles in form of Discovery Vision concept. Before the New York Auto Show last year, they uncovered the concept car, which brings an idea to the roadmap of their future vehicles too. Although present generations of Land Rover vehicles come with various unique technologies and equipments to make the car sheer attractive, but Land Rover claims, their upcoming generation cars will be much more advanced than the present generation.
Here, today we brought you a detailed review of the Land Rover Discovery Vision concept car.
It was not long ago, the Land Rover Discovery Sport was launched. The compact SUV from the legendary luxury SUV manufacturer was quite unexpected indeed, but somehow they changed their mind, and brought us a luxurious compact SUV which is fully loaded with attractive features and unique technologies.
Land Rover vehicles always come spacious, comfortable and luxurious, let alone the supreme off roading capability. This new SUV comes with various unique features which make it out of the league. Available in 170 global markets, it has already attracted more than 40000 customers worldwide, and the number is growing rapidly. The vehicle comes packed with advanced technologies, from head to toe. Such as, it comes with a combination of 43 sensors which measure everything from cabin air quality and solar intensity, to windscreen mist and rain, and that too without any input from the driver. The car comes with an uniquely innovative technology of stereo video camera, which scans road ahead and recognizes vehicles, lanes and even road signs.
Here we tried to bring you a brief description of the new Land Rover Discovery Sport.
Land Rover revealed a new Discovery Sport, which comes in dynamic design and better performance. The British luxury automobile manufacturer revealed the vehicle at the ongoing Frankfurt Motor Show. This new car comes named as Discovery Dynamic Sports.
The new premium luxury compact SUV comes with unique design, and stylish details and colour, which make this car distinguishing from the standard model. Beside the enhanced visual appeal, this car comes equipped with features like All Terrain Progress Control (ATPC), Gesture Tailgate. The new Discovery Sport Dynamic features a number of exterior enhancements. These features include Narvik Black exterior details, body coloured mouldings and door claddings which makes this car even more muscular. The customers get a choice of an unique new 19 inch wheel design which comes in Satin Dark Grey, or a 20 inch Gloss Black wheel. The interior of the car comes in new impressive colours and detailing, the new Dynamic design option creates a powerful and striking impression.
Apart from luxury Land Rover vehicles are known for their sheer off roading capability. The off roading capability of the Discovery Sport Dynamic is heightened by the introduction of All Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) for 2016. ATPC is an advanced system which enables drivers to set and maintain a steady speed during off road driving. Developed by the Land Rover’s all terrain specialists, ATPC functions similarly to a cruise control system, and it is operational between 2 kmph and 30 kmph. The ATPC system adapts the vehicle’s behaviour according to the terrain, allowing even the novice users the control of an expert off road driver. ATPC also sports a dedicated Launch feature, which allows the vehicle to pull away smoothly and easily, even on critically low friction surfaces like ice, snow or wet grass.
Talk about any Land Rover vehicle, they draw quite some attention wherever they go. Specifically, if we talk about the Range Rovers, they come first in the line. Often driven by the celebrities and the people from power corridors, Range Rover is one of the most desired vehicles for these highly secured persons. Automatically, these persons become the prime target from various hazardous organizations and individuals. Therefore comes the need of better safety and security. This is the exact point from where Land Rover began making the Range Rover Sentinel, fully armored luxury SUV.
This car better called a fortress than an armored car. Covered with rigorous armored plating, this car can easily withstand highly powerful explosives, armored piercing bullets, hand grenades. The British luxury SUV manufacturer just revealed this car which is made by their Special Vehicle Operations segment. Sentinel is all set to make its global debut at the Defence and Security Equipment International Exhibition which will take place at London’s ExCeL arena from 15th to 18th September 2015.
Before you experience the launch of this gorgeously tough car, we brought you the bits and pieces of the Range Rover sentinel. Here, take a look.
You must be using a smart phone. How about a smart car as your next buy?
Interested? Well, as of now you can’t buy such car, but in future you could, as Land Rover is developing a new smart technology, which will enable your car to learn your driving habits and traits. This technology enables the car to learn about driver’s habits by accessing his or her mobile phone. Thus the car will learn which radio station the driver listens most and at which time, which are the favourite songs for the driver. All these data get stored in cloud storage and the smart car implements and acts accordingly.
These data can be deleted anytime with a special request from the owner. When launched, this will be a state of art car and that too for the first time in world automobile history.
By this technology the car will learn and act accordingly about the drivers habits after he or she drives the car for two weeks. There is an algorithm which self learns and develops itself automatically, thus making the car smarter and smarter with every passing day.
Land Rover demonstrated the future tech car last July in Gaydon, England; where guests got a chance to test the smart features in a replica ‘home to work’ journey. The scenarios demonstrated at Gaydon include the use of predictive massage seats, automatic media source selection and an intelligent phone reminder, which ensures that, no driver leaves home without their essentials. Land Rover says, this is an opt-in service for the customers, as they can override the system implemented program any time.
They are the one who tries to invent new ways by which they can actually make their SUV a perfect offroader and also give the owners a chance to extract maximum out of their vehicle and its four-wheel drive chassis. That’s right I am talking about the iconic British auto manufacturer Land Rover and their entire Range Rover Range.
Recently Land Rover announced that their upcoming 2015 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport will come with some interesting new changes both mechanical and technological as well. The mechanical changes which you will find under the hood of the new Range Rover is that instead of two turbochargers the 3.0 litre 6 cylinder TDV6 engine now will carry only a single turbocharger however when it comes to power the engine hasn’t lost any, infact the TDV6 engine still produces the same 258 Ps of peak power and 600 Nm of torque. But the result of that lost turbocharger has surely taken its toll on the engine but in a good way offcourse! The same engine actually now has an increased fuel efficiency of 8.5 percent while the RR Sport has an increased fuel efficiency of 5.7 percent.
As far as the 3.0-litre SDV6 unit is concerned it still retains the parallel-sequential turbocharging, but it now generates 306 ps of peak power and 700 Nm of torque which means that its performance figures has increased by almost 14 ps and 100 Nm respectively and this was all possible because of the calibration changes. This engine unit also too has an increased fuel efficiency figures.
Jaguar Land Rover main focus always was to make sure that the person driving the vehicle remains informed and alert about their own vehicle and also their surroundings for their own safety and also for the safety of other road users, we have seen them inventing the invisible bonnet technology which will be used in their SUV Discovery in the near future. Recently we also have seen them unveiling yet another technology known as ‘Jaguar Virtual Windscreen’ concept which will aid road and track driving.
This new technology will provide the person driving the vehicle with high quality graphics and information virtually and thus will use the entire front windscreen just like a head-up display unit and will project high quality hazard, speed and navigation icons on the windscreen in this way the driver will never have to take their eyes away from the road ahead thus reducing the risk of any accidents. The new jaguar Virtual windscreen will display information like Racing line and braking guidance this racing line and braking guidance will display green colored racing lines which the driver can follow easily while the braking guidance will change its color to red when the brakes needs to be applied. The virtual windscreen will also display a Ghost car visualization with which you can race and improve your lap time on track. Lastly the virtual windscreen will even help the drivers in training and improving their ability by displaying virtual cones on the track ahead of them and which also can be changed accordingly.
Not only this the Jaguar Land Rover is also developing gesture control system so that the drivers always remains glued to the road ahead and thus reducing the unwanted distractions which occurs while looking for switches and buttons on the dashboard. The gesture control system will detect any movement within 15 cm of the system and will be using the E-Field Sensing which are also used on the modern day Smartphones nowadays and will help to operate sunblinds, rear wipers and satellite navigation maps in the car.
Land Rover will unveil a future concept at the upcoming New York International Motor show. This new revolutionary concept is to form the basis of the next generation Land Rover Discovery. It is called the Discovery Vision Concept and there are some peculiar features on this car that sound more like science fiction.
Land Rover says, that the Discovery Vision Concept has a transparent bonnet, now, that’s something out of the ordinary built to add a new level of driver awareness with an uninterrupted view of what lies ahead and beneath the car. Previously, we have seen cameras fitted around the car to give the driver a 360 degree view of their surroundings. This new transparent bonnet concept uses virtual imaging techniques that provide a "see-through" augmented reality view of the terrain ahead.
Cameras located in the front of the vehicle captures data which is then transferred to feed a head-up display unit which projects live feeds from them, offering a sensation of a transparent bonnet and an uninterrupted view.
According to Dr Wolfgang Epple, Director of Research and Technology for Jaguar Land Rover, the next 25 years would bring in more and more advanced safety technologies to the mainstream along with environmental innovation and vehicle capabilities.
He further adds,"as our vehicles become more capable and autonomous off-road, we will ensure the driver has the confidence to allow the car to continue to progress, over any terrain. We are developing new technologies including the Transparent Bonnet to give drivers an augmented view of reality to help them tackle anything from the toughest off-road route to the tight confines of an urban car park."
