Land Rover Range Rover is one of the iconic cars of all time in the world automotive history. The iconic luxury SUV comes with a glorious history of off roading around the corners of world. To celebrate the occasion, Land Rover recruited their 6 millionth range Rover model in Suzhou in China with a challenge of crossing a bridge. Incidentally the city of Suzhou is known as the Venice of East for its several bridges.
Well, crossing a bridge certainly not a tough challenge for Range Rover. But the real story is the bridge was made of paper only. No steel, no nuts and bolts. The five metre long bridge was made of 54390 pieces of papers, which were packed tightly in the arch technique, and there was no glue or bolts. It took the crew three days to build the bridge. Land Rover Experience chief instructor Chris Zhou was given the task to take the Range Rover over the paper bridge. The Range Rover comes with All Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) technology, which allows the drivers overcome tough challenges thrown at them. Moreover, the advanced lightweight body also helped the car to overcome the challenge without any difficulty.
Talk about any Land Rover vehicle, they draw quite some attention wherever they go. Specifically, if we talk about the Range Rovers, they come first in the line. Often driven by the celebrities and the people from power corridors, Range Rover is one of the most desired vehicles for these highly secured persons. Automatically, these persons become the prime target from various hazardous organizations and individuals. Therefore comes the need of better safety and security. This is the exact point from where Land Rover began making the Range Rover Sentinel, fully armored luxury SUV.
This car better called a fortress than an armored car. Covered with rigorous armored plating, this car can easily withstand highly powerful explosives, armored piercing bullets, hand grenades. The British luxury SUV manufacturer just revealed this car which is made by their Special Vehicle Operations segment. Sentinel is all set to make its global debut at the Defence and Security Equipment International Exhibition which will take place at London’s ExCeL arena from 15th to 18th September 2015.
Before you experience the launch of this gorgeously tough car, we brought you the bits and pieces of the Range Rover sentinel. Here, take a look.
Recently Land Rovers iconic premium sports utility car Range Rover celebrated its 45th birthday worldwide (Read it here). For 45 long years this car has been an icon of style meets cutting edge technology as well as the best off terrain capability with luxury.
Since its establishment as the Rover Company by Maurice Wilks in 1947, Land Rover has seen many changes, and it has shown the world of SUV manufacturing and off roading cars new dimensions with their innovations round the years. But produced first in 1970, the Range Rover was probably one of the milestones in the world of off roading vehicles, and that too with luxury. As Land Rover claims, ‘45 years of British luxury, design, innovation’, it is truly a dynamic car of all the time.
Since the year 1970, this iconic car has been the epitome of luxury off roading. Today while Land Rover boasts the success of fourth generation Range Rover, we found many interesting facts lying underneath the hood of Land Rover Range Rover, from the first classic to the present model. In several ways, this car has led the world of automobile manufacturers by innovating and bringing new technologies, achieving new feats and various other ways.
Here we will take a short look on the fact file of Land Rover Range Rover.
In the recently released movie Piku, he had a serious problem with her daughter in the driving seat of Toyota Innova, but in real life Amitabh Bachhan seems to have sheer passion to drive instead of sitting at the rear seats, and that passion comes with another interest, which is getting the luxury cars at his garage.
The success Amitabh Bachhan got in his long spanned career is beyond envy, just like his car collection. Presently he owns few of the most luxurious vehicles in the country, such as Rolls Royce Phantom, Bentley continental GT, Bentley Arnage R, Mercedes Benz SL500, Porsche Cayman S, Range Rover Vogue, Lexus LX470, Mercedes Benz E240, BMW X5, BMW 7 series, Mercedes S 320, Toyota Land Cruiser and many more.
Today we would like to take our readers to have a look at Big B’s garage.
The iconic Land Rover Range Rover celebrated its 45th Birthday today, the first generation Range Rover which was called Classic was showcased infront of the media for the first time in the year 1970 and it went on sale at the very same year after that three more generation went by currently the Range Rover which is available Internationally is the fourth generation SUV which was introduced in the year 2012.
The two doors Classic featured a lightweight aluminum V8 engine and an all wheel drive while it was also available with all around disc brakes. Much later in 1981 Land Rover also introduced a four door variant while it also came with an automatic gearbox back in the year 1982 which was something really unbelievable. Later in 1986 a diesel engine was introduced to the lineup and in 1989 it also became the World’s first 4X4 SUV to get the anti lock disc brakes.
Much later in 1992 the Range Rover also received other safety features like Electronic Traction Control and automatic electronic air suspension.
The second generation was introduced later in the year 1994 and was known as P38a, this funny name was given to the SUV because it was built in the building 38A at the Solihull factory. Compared to the previous generation SUV this was more luxurious and also featured better interior. While this also provided even better off road capability which it was known for.
This was also the first Range Rover SUV that was easily recognized with its iconic silhouette, floating roof, clamshell bonnet, practical split tailgate and continuous waistline which is still continued even today. While the earlier generation already was loaded with couple of technologically advanced features this new generation SUV took it to the next level.
When Rolls Royce and Bentley are still working on developing their high end luxury SUV’s another British auto manufacturer Land Rover has already gone the distance and introduced their flagship Range Rover SVAutobiography at the 2015 New York International Auto Show.
So how is it different from the already luxurious standard Range Rover? The Range Rover SVAutobiography definitely brings with it an enhanced design, more sophistication and pure craftsmanship. This also happens to be the most powerful Range Rover too and packs quite a lot of punch from the Supercharged V8 unit while this is also the first time that Land Rover is using duo-tone paint on its exterior.
The SVAutobiography has been built exclusively at the Special Vehicle Operations’ (SVO) Technical Centre in the UK. Beside just the exterior the interior too gets high quality leather, wood and aluminum accents. The Range Rover SVAutobiography definitely will top the charts now when it comes to luxurious SUV’s and why not because it has got everything one needs inside a SUV of this class and caliber.

Quite honestly I can hardly wait for the movie to hit the theatres especially after hearing what this movie is bringing for us. The movie Spectre will be releasing on 6th November 2015 and if you want to see some cool action and hottest cars then mark the date.
They are the one who tries to invent new ways by which they can actually make their SUV a perfect offroader and also give the owners a chance to extract maximum out of their vehicle and its four-wheel drive chassis. That’s right I am talking about the iconic British auto manufacturer Land Rover and their entire Range Rover Range.
Recently Land Rover announced that their upcoming 2015 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport will come with some interesting new changes both mechanical and technological as well. The mechanical changes which you will find under the hood of the new Range Rover is that instead of two turbochargers the 3.0 litre 6 cylinder TDV6 engine now will carry only a single turbocharger however when it comes to power the engine hasn’t lost any, infact the TDV6 engine still produces the same 258 Ps of peak power and 600 Nm of torque. But the result of that lost turbocharger has surely taken its toll on the engine but in a good way offcourse! The same engine actually now has an increased fuel efficiency of 8.5 percent while the RR Sport has an increased fuel efficiency of 5.7 percent.
As far as the 3.0-litre SDV6 unit is concerned it still retains the parallel-sequential turbocharging, but it now generates 306 ps of peak power and 700 Nm of torque which means that its performance figures has increased by almost 14 ps and 100 Nm respectively and this was all possible because of the calibration changes. This engine unit also too has an increased fuel efficiency figures.
Land Rover today initiated the bookings for the 2015 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport unfortunately the bookings for the two Land Rover models only started in UK while the people of India will still have to wait for some more time to get their hands on the updated 2015 Range Rover range.
The 2015 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport gets few important updates but the most significant update that the Range Rover series has received comes in the form of an additional torque output. Yes! You have read it right the 4.4 Liter SDV8 diesel engine now generates 339 PS of peak power and 740 Nm of torque which is almost 40 Nm more than its predecessor. The increase in the amount of torque output has also resulted in improvement in-gear acceleration by almost 6.5 percent (%) from fifth to eighth gear.
Basically the new Range Rover diesel engine has been mated to a 8 speed automatic gearbox, the gearbox also has been re-engineered and now it has been incorporated with a twin-spring damper as well. But the most interesting thing is that despite the increase in torque amount the Range Rover the fuel economy and the Co2 emission of the remained unchanged.
When Land Rover launched the Range Rover Sport in the International market they called it the fastest, most agile and responsive Land Rover ever built. After its launch it has won many International awards and now is enjoying an important position in the Land Rover product portfolio. Recently land Rover has introduced the new Stealth Pack which will make its global debut at the UK most prestigious motoring festival called the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The stealth pack features couple of exterior design add on which comes in the form of a satin black front grille and grille surround for the front of the SUV, you will also get fog lamp bezels which changes the overall appeal of the front. Furthermore it also gets bonnet and fender vents, upper mirror caps and lastly a tailgate finisher. The Stealth pack also includes non-reflective headlamp and tail lamp surfaces. The owner will also get a choice of selecting between 21 inch 9-spoke wheels or a 21 inch 5-spoke wheels, which has been finished in satin black while the wheel nuts gets a glossy black paint which completes the overall look of the SUV.
However the Stealth pack only includes cosmetic upgrades under the hood the story remains the same. The Range Rover Sport is available with 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol which produces 510PS and a 3.0 litre TDV6 diesel which produces 258PS of peak power.
Gerry McGovern, Land Rover’s Design Director & Chief Creative Officer, commented: "With the addition of the Stealth Pack, we are further extending the appeal of the Range Rover Sport and offering even greater choice to our customers."

It’s not everyday that you find a prototype being publicly shown off and documented of its adventures. Most will be hiding under deep cammo wraps and driven in places that don’t have people’s attention to grab. However, for their new lineup of Hybrid vehicles, Land Rover has decided to take a different route. A long one...
To promote the reliability and the success of their first foray into hybrid technology, the once-upon-a-time-Greenpeace-enemy had decided to embark on a journey that pushed the limits of the prototypes in a tree-hugging fashion. Called the "Silk Trail Expedition" , the name pays homage to all those silk traders, merchants and missionaries who have used the very same trail for their journeys.
This arduous journey has taken them 53 days to complete, traversing across 13 countries to put the Hybrid prototypes through real world challenges. The starting point was at Solihull, home of Land Rover, from where the prototypes covered countries like France, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, China (including Tibet), Nepal and India. The final point was at Mumbai, home of current Land Rover owners, Tata.
The expedition wasn’t simply a "walk in the park". It involved nasty conditions like damaged roads with deep potholes, desert traversing at a scorching 43°C, numerous kilometers of mud and gravel driving, thin air at very high altitudes and unbearable traffic on Chinese and Indian roads. Other brands would quite literally shudder at the mere thought of the trail that Land Rover has taken. Good thing is throughout the entire trip, engineers reported that they got back an average of 15.31 kmpl, which is pretty good for a car that used to chug fuel like a madman.
With no hassle, they’ve finally arrived at India’s financial capital to a very warm welcome. Overall, it’s a journey that puts a car way out of its comfort zone and plays with its weaknesses but, this is no ordinary car. It’s a Range Rover. The name says it all. Well done Land Rover!
