The Land Rover Evoque has been one important product in the Land Rover lineup since 2011 it was one of the very first compact luxury crossovers from the British Auto manufacturer that really won the audience heart. Available with both three and five door variant and also in both two wheel and four wheel drive variant this Crossover surely is one of the crowd’s favorite for its styling and off roading capbilities thanks to its Land Rover DNA.

Land Rover made an announcement that they will be launching the facelift 2016 Evoque in the International market but before that the Crossover will be showcased at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and like they promises the facelift Crossover was indeed unveiled at the Auto show. Land Rover also shared the first teaser image of the Range Rover Evoque which gives us few hints of how this SUV will appear in flesh while there is also some hint in the press release about the new types of engine that it will carry inside its hood.

UPDATE 23/02/15:- Land Rover unveiled the Range Rover Evoque facelift almost a week ahead of its official unveiling at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. This SUV will start its official deliveries from the month of June onwards to its respective customers. We have updated the review with the latest information available about the SUV at this moment.

Update 19/11/2015:- Land Rover launched the Rnage Rover Evoque facelift in the Indian market today with prices starting at INR. 47.10 lakhs.

EXTERIOR

The cosmetic changes to the facelift Evoque Crossover is minimal but the subtle changes to the front and rear has given this car a fresh appeal without actually losing its original character.

Towards the front the Evoque gets Xenon headlamps unit and integrated LED daytime running lamps. The front bumper design ahs also been revised and it now gets enlarged front air intakes which adds to the aggressive appeal of the SUV. Land Rover also offers two new designs for premium finished grilles, while the standard grilles come with two bold horizontal bars and a new fine-mesh grille pattern. The front bumper also gets integrated LED fog lamps as well. There is also an option to adopt full-LED adaptive headlamps as well. There are no significant changes made to the side profile of this vehicle but it does get a newly designed alloy wheels.

Towards the rear the Evoque gets completely new LED tail lamps beside that there is also a new rear spoiler which gives a sporty appearance to the SUV.

INTERIOR

The interior of the Evoque gets more sophisticated touch, the cabin now comes with a redesigned instrument cluster while the premium soft touch materials comes with more improved quality and more optional features to choose from.

The standard model gets leather Ebony seats with eight-way adjustment settings while flagship models feature new front massage seats (optional) with 14-way electric adjustment. The owners can even choose between two new leather materials, while it also gets an additional ambient lighting which further enhances the interior appeal. There is even a hands free tailgate system as well which actually oepns the rear tailgate as soon as the person approaches towards the rear of the car and waves their feet under the rear bumper.

DRIVETRAIN

The pre-facelift Evoque is available In India with a 2.2 Liter four cylinder diesel engine which has been mated to a newly introduced 9 speed automatic gearbox. This engine is capable of producing a healthy 140 Kw of peak power and 420 Nm of torque. The new 9 speed gearbox helps the Evoque to accelerate from 0-100 km/h mark in just 8.5 seconds while its top speed is limited to about 195 Kph.

The 2016 Evoque gets a new 240 Hp petrol engine which will help accelerate from 0-100 km/h mark in 7.6 seconds while the top speed will be around 217 kmph mark. This new powertrain besides providing an amazing on road and off road performance will also provide an impressive fuel economy at the same time. This is perhaps the same 2.0 Liter four cylinder diesel unit which also powers the Jaguar XE sedan.

The 2016 Evoque is launched in the Indian market with a single diesel unit. This is the same unit which also used to power the pre-facelift variant. The 2.2 Litre diesel unit as mentioned above is capable of producing about 187 Bhp of peak power and 420 Nm of torque and is mated to a 9 speed automatic gearbox.

The 2016 Evoque also gets land Rovers Terrain response system as well which is actually standard feature across all its trims which are definitely good news.

COMPETITION

BMW X3

The BMW X3 is one worthy Crossover from BMW and which has been launched in the Indian market too and attracted lot of attention. The X3 is available with number of engine options but it is available in the Indian market with X Drive 20D variant which produces about 184 Hp of peak power and 380 M of torque.
