He is one of the biggest business tycoons of India, chairman of India’s largest and oldest business conglomerate. We have seen him very quiet at difficult times. As it seems he is a very private person, and world knows nothing about his life away from his office.
We are talking about Ratan Naval Tata, the ex chairman of Tata Group. For decades we have seen Mr. Ratan Tata pioneering the Indian automotive industry to a new dimension. It is no surprise, that Ratan Tata has been emotionally attached with Tata Motors. He made the impossible task possible with the Tata Indica and Tata Nano. To put it in a simple way, we can say, Ratan Tata is crazy about cars, in his personal life and professional life as well.
During his tenure as the chairman of Tata Group, he has been spotted many times behind his exotic car’s steering near his residence on South Bombay roads. It is also a known fact that every weekend he takes his cars for a spin. Now, as he has retired from the post, he invests more time for his exotic rides. He is also known as one of the few business tycoons around the world who loves to take the seat behind the steering wheel rather than being seated at the rear and driven by chauffeur. Inside Ratan Tata’s garage there are dozens of beautiful cars and we tried to bring you one look at them.

The Born free Foundation has been working hard in saving the Tigers of India. There are only 3500 Tigers left in the World and if somebody does not take care of these animals now soon they too will become extinct like many other species. The Born Free Foundation and their dedicated teams carry out their entire operation at Satpuda Landscape which also happens to be the largest viable block of tiger habitat in India.
Land Rover partnership with Born Free Foundation was established back in the year 2002 and since then Land Rover supported this team with their work. Recently Land Rover extended their support to the Born Free Foundation by delivering a brand new Land Rover Freelander to the Satpuda Foundation, which happens to be Born Free partner organization located in central India.
The Land Rover Freelander that was delivered to the team features a distinctive Born Free white paw prints. The forest area definitely doesn’t have proper tarmac roads and thus the Freelander all terrain capability will help the team in reaching those places easily which are inaccessible for a normal vehicle.
Mark Cameron, Brand Experience Director at Jaguar Land Rover, said: "Land Rover’s on-going partnership with the Born Free Foundation has already helped support some of the Foundation’s most important projects in the UK, Kenya, Ethiopia, South Africa and Sri Lanka. With this addition of the Land Rover Freelander to the Satpuda Landscape Tiger Programme, I believe together we will now make a real contribution to the conservation of the endangered Tiger in India.”
He also added “The Land Rover Freelander’s all-terrain capability will enable conservation workers to reach areas which would otherwise be inaccessible and ultimately protect the tigers throughout the Satpuda Landscape."
Land Rover will bring a special concept SUV to this year’s New York Auto Show. It is called the Discovery Vision Concept and is to be the basis for the replacement Discovery model. That said, Land Rover also has plans to replace the Freelander which sits right at the bottom of their portfolio.
The British marque has now revealed that the next Freelander will actually be called Discovery Sport. The official announcement will be made during the show but word is out that a new Discovery family is in the making. This also means that like the Range Rover family, the next Discovery will spawn another model which could be offered at a slightly lower price point and with a different character. The future Discovery family will be made up of four different variants including a seven-seat, five-seat and four-seat version.
Land Rover will also debut an innovative Transparent Bonnet Headup display at the NY auto show. The system is an application of HUD technology which incorporates live camera feeds to give the impression of a transparent or see-through bonnet.
Landrover has announced new trims for the Freelander 2 model to add more zing. The Freelander 2 will now be available with premium HSE Luxury and XS specifications, which will offer couple of exterior and interior upgrades to the SUV.
The HSE trim will offer few extra exterior features which will include body-colored sills, door handles and mirror caps and bright Atlas-colored finish to the front grille and vents. Another effective exterior feature is the addition of a new 19" Sparkle Silver wheels and a metal ingot-style HSE Luxury badge at the rear to distinguish it from the rest. While the interior upgrades includes 8/6-way adjustable Windsor leather electric seats and Grand Black lacquer finish to the door handles, steering wheel and interior finisher.
While the XS specification includes a dark Atlas grille bars and side vents, front fog lamps, body-colored sills, door handles, mirror caps and 17" Anthracite alloy wheel on its exterior. Beside these two packs Landrover also introduced a Dynamic exterior pack which is available as an optional extra with both HSE Luxury and XS trims.

Due to depreciating value of Indian currency, many premium brands are forced to raise the prices of their current top-sellers. This is one of the main reasons why such brands are now focusing on locally built entry-level models that might help gain some market share. Seeing this Land Rover jumped the bandwagon and launched the locally made Freelander 2.
Meanwhile they have quietly launched the Freelander 2 S Business Edition in India, which is a slightly lower version of their Freelander 2 HSE. It misses out on few equipment and extra comfort features inside. But, other than that, business is usual
The mechanical specification of the Freelander 2 BE will be the exact same of the Freelander 2 range. It’s good that Land Rover hasn’t compromised any of the Land Rover’s engineering in the name cost reduction

Land rover means seriousness and smartness delivered in one package and the new Freelander2 is no exception. One can easily recognize the new Freelander2 by its wide and bold stance and solid build quality. The Freelander2 has all the premium touches that one can expect from a SUV of this class, from its exterior one will be surprised that there is no change at all but if they look minutely they will find that Land rover made minor updates which makes the new SUV a different vehicle than its predecessors.
The Freelander2 is powered by a 2.2 litre diesel engine which generates 150PS of maximum power and 420Nm of torque, and it has been mated with an updated six-speed automatic transmission with CommandShift as standard. The other engine is a 2.2 litre bigger Diesel engine which generates 190 ps of maximum power and 420 NM of torque which is equal to the smaller engine If someone feels that the engine needed some more power then think again, the SUV accelerates from 0-100km/h in just 11.2 seconds. Beside this there are many new changes and features which have been added to this new vehicle, let’s find out about them in details.
While Land Rover has already started work on the Freelander 3, before that we would get to see the facelift version of the Freelander 2 next year. First launched in 2006, the Freelander is one of Land Rover’s bestselling products and we predict that the 3rd generation of the SUV would make its international launch in 2015. The new Freelander would be bigger with completely new interiors and nearly all of its platform would be made from high strength steel. Land Rover is on an expansion phase aiming to have a bigger hold on the international market and one of the plans of the manufacturer is to introduce no less than 15 products within the next decade.
The facelift Freelander which will be introduced in March next year has been unveiled. There have been changes made to the exteriors and the interiors and this is the second facelift that the SUV has received since it was first launched. It has been an interesting beginning for the Land Rover Freeander 2 since its launch in India in 2011.Land Rover is one of the most aspirational brands in India and this has resulted in generating interest amongst perspective buyers. The Freelander is assembled in India which has helped to keep prices relatively competitive. Currently prices start from Rs36,61,857 for the base variant while the HSE variant costs Rs41,66,019 but we expect those to increase marginally.
Jaguar and Land Rover, the two jewels of the British automobile ‘Empire’ are now in Indian hands. It is a scenario which till only a few years ago seemed impossible. Whether the English like it or not, it’s the reality today and most trade analyst today say that for the long run this is a good thing to happen to both the Jaguar and Land Rover which until the takeover by Tata Motor’s were struggling for cash. Land Rover now has 3 models in India which include the Freelander 2, Discovery 4 and the Land Rover Range Rover (also available in sport version). The Freelander 2 is a 4x4 SUV build on a monocoque structure and is the second generation of the Freelander model.
