Land Rover has revealed the 2014 New York Auto Show bound Discovery Vision Concept. It is the first step towards a revolutionary change in design language for the rugged off-roader. If the Range Rover is for ferrying the high-class elite, then the Discovery has been the workhorse of the Land Rover family.
The new Discovery Concept has been designed around modern technology with innovative systems like Transparent Bonnet head-up display, Laser headlamps and gesture control, Terrain Response system with Remote Control Drive and Laser Terrain Scanning. The high versatile SUV features an infinitely adjustable seating configuration with space for seven and incorporating an even platform and social bench.
The 2014 Land Rover Discover Vision Concept would be one of the stars of this year’s New York Auto Show. The car made its debut alongside a scale model of the Virgin Galactic spacecraft on board the USS Interpid in Manhattan. The spacecraft is the brain child of Sir Richard Branson of Virgin and is amongst the pioneers of commercial space flight.
The Discover Vision Concept borrows cues from the current Land Rover line up. The slender grille and wrap around head lamps with a bold, upright stance is characteristic of modern Land Rovers. Unique design elements like the stepped roof and alpine lights make it on to the concept.

Land Rover will be showcasing the Range Rover Evoque convertible at the Geneva Motor Show next month and the manufacturer has said that it will ‘explore the potential for the world’s first premium convertible SUV’. A decision on production could be made as early as in a month after Geneva. Land Rover Design Director, Gerry McGovern said, “The Evoque lends itself beautifully to the idea of a convertible. This study is not a traditional convertible design execution – instead we have worked with the balance of the Evoque’s lines to retain its distinctive shape and create something that is unique and, we believe, highly desirable.”
