Land Rover has added another member to their Range Rover family. The new SUV is called Range Rover Velar and it will be positioned in between the Range Rover Evoque and Sport. The new SUV was unveiled Infront of the World on 1st March 2017 and will be showcased at the 2017 Geneva Motor show.
Like they have promised Land Rover deed introduce the Velar on the first day of March. This is actually the fourth member which has joined the RR family. According to Land Rover there are five elements which define the all new Velar SUV. These are driven by reduction, the entire SUV has been designed and engineered with belief in reductionism. The second element that the British auto manufacturer has kept in mind while building the Velar is it has been equipped with technology-enabled design which will provide the next logical step in expanding the RR portfolio. The third and perhaps the most important point about the Velar is that, the entire RR range originated from the original Velar prototypes of 1969. The last element which influences the Velar is that it also promises to incorporate advanced technologies and attention to detail. Land Rover also claims that the Velar has also been refined for every occasion.
The new Velar is based on JLR’s new lightweight Aluminium Architecture and can take on any terrain thrown in its way. So without any further due let us get straight into the details.

This test proves the SUV’s capabilities of performing in any terrain and in any pace
We still haven’t yet found out why did Land Rover actually created such a wild production SUV in the form of the Range Rover Sport SVR. I mean SUV’s are built to take on the rough terrains which are not accessible by any other usual four wheeled vehicles and they actually don’t have to be fast only tough enough to take on roads or no roads. But the Range Rover Sport SVR proved us all wrong. This wild beast can not only handle bad terrains but actually can give nightmares to many sportscars with its incredibly fast acceleration.
Just imagine with all the 550 Hp of peak power this heavy SUV can accelerate from 0-100 km/h mark in just 4.7 seconds that is almost equal to the time that the Porsche Cayman 718 takes to reach the three digit speeds. Since its introducing back in 2015 the RR SVR has been setting records. Recently Land Rover tested their wild SUV’s acceleration capability in 6 completely different terrains.
The Range Rovers first test was to take on the Europe’s fastest racing circuit, Rockingham Motor Speedway in Corby, UK. The second test was performed on a much tougher wet grass surface. The third test was performed on gravel surface. The fourth test was performed on Mud and Ruts. The last two terrain tests were performed on Pendine Sands at Carmarthen Bay in South Wales while the final test was not actually dependent on speed but something little different which tested the SUV’s Rock crawl mode.
The petrol variant is available only with the SE trim

The Petrol variant of the Evoque is available only with the SE trim. The other variants which are available with the diesel unit include Pure, SE, SE Dynamic, HSE and HSE Dynamic trims.
Some other features which are available on the facelift variant of the Evoque include redesigned headlamps with xenon headlights, the headlamps unit also gets integrated LED DRLs lamps, panoramic sunroof and also17-inch alloy wheels as well towards its side profile. The rear profile on the other hand gets redesigned taillamps as well. Inside the updated Evoque features height adjustable driver seat, a completely new eight-inch InControl Touch infotainment system with navigation.
The petrol variant Range Rover Evoque rivals the likes of the new BMW X3 which also recently introduced its petrol variant.
The updated RR Evoque also gets a petrol engine option apart from the diesel unit
Land Rover launched the new and updated Range Rover Evoque in India today. The best selling model from Land Rover prices starts from INR. 49.10 lakh for the base Pure trim while the top end HSE Dynamic trim is priced at INR. 64.65 lakh.
The updated RR Evoque hasn’t received any major changes in terms of styling but instead decided to equip the SUV with more features. As a result of that the new RR Evoque gets a restyled front bumper and also a new grille. To make it looks slightly more aggressive it even features bigger air intakes as well. As far as some other exterior features are concerned it gets full LED headlamps as well. Just like the front profile the rear profile too gets an updated LED taillamps as well. Inside things looks new as well, to begin with the RR Evoque gets redesigned instrument cluster and soft touch materials. The seats too has been redesigned as well, the front seats gets massage function as well available as an option. The dashboard also gets an 8.0 inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Apart from all that some other new features includes an all terrain progress control, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Attention Assist Estimation.
Coming to the drivetrain the new Range Rover Evoque gets the 2.0 Liter Ingenium series engine which is capable of producing about 177 Hp of peak power. All that power is send to the 4 wheels of the SUV via the 9 speed automatic transmission. This drivetrain is more fuel efficient and is also lighter by almost 20 kilograms than the previous engine. Land Rover will also introduce a petrol engine as well from January 2017 onward.

Watch the SUV Pulls 58 Times More than Its weight
This is an absolutely remarkable video that we found on the internet this week and decided to share it with all of you. We know Land Rovers are exceptional vehicles when it comes to offroad but have you ever given it a thought that they are incredibly powerful as well at the same time. In this video you can watch a Land Rover Discovery sport pulls three railway carriages at the same time which actually weighs almost 100 Tonnes.
The Land Rover Discovery Sport which pulled the train along with it was fitted with guidance wheels just to keep it on track and apart from that everything else remains stock. The Discovery Sport is powered by a 2.0 Liter Ingenium diesel engine which produces about 178 Bhp of peak power and an impressive 430 Nm of torque which actually gives this baby SUV all that pulling power. In general the Discovery Sport can tow upto 2,500kg (2.5 tonnes) but in this video it is actually towing almost 58 times of its own weight which is absolutely amazing.
In the beginning we can watch it drive to the railway station where it actually gets hooked to that 3 carriages which together weighs 100 tonnes. The SUV without any strain was actually pull the carriages instantly and what further aided the Discovery Sport in pulling all that weight was the All Terrain Progress Control. This progress control managed the engine output and braking at the same time which actually helped to increase traction.
