Jeep has introduced their brands new global compact SUV Compass in Brazil and yes! For all your information this will make it to the Indian market as well. In other International markets the Compass has been positioned in between their entry level offering the Renegade and the Cherokee. According to Jeep this global SUV will be launched in more than 100 countries around the world and will be available with 17 different powertrain options depending on the region.
The new compact SUV promises uncompromised performance and also best in class 4x4 capability. While the fuel efficient powertrains under the hood will make sure that they do not burn a hole in the pocket either. The new SUV definitely carries a proportionate and authentic Jeep styling and the new compass SUV borrows some of its design elements from the bigger Grand Cherokee.

If we talk about styling Jeep has tried to inject the ‘Brand Jeep’ DNA into this compact SUV as well. Like we already mentioned above the Compass SUV borrows some of its design DNA from the bigger and more premium Grand Cherokee.
Towards the front the Compass gets a shallow grille which is surrounded by smaller projector headlamps which also gets integrated DRL lamps as well. The front bumper looks rugged and gets separately positioned fog lamps as well. Towards the side profile the Compass does not get too much angular lines like the Renegade the squared wheel arches the chunky alloy wheels. Towards the rear profile the SUV gets horizontally positioned taillamps as well. The SUV also gets chrome finished twin exhausts and also roof spoiler as well.
The interior gets premium interiors; the dashboard for instance gets the U-Connect infotainment system which also comes integrated with 8.0 inch touchscreen infotainment system. The other features might also include climate control and also push button start. The three spoke multifunctional steering wheel, the matter and silver finished interior everything looks in line with the new cabin.
The Jeep Compass will get the 2.0L Tigershark Flex unit paired to a 6-speed AT and the 2.0L Multijet II diesel unit paired to a 9-speed Automatic transmission for Brazilian market. The diesel variant of the Compass compact SUV also gets Jeep 4WD Active Drive Low system.
As far as the Indian market is concerned Jeep will most probably launch the Compass with the 2.0-litre Fiat Multijet II diesel unit which is capable of producing about 172 Hp of peak power. The engine will be paired to both manual as well as an automatic transmission as well.
The Jeep Compass will most probably be manufactured at the Fiat’s Ranjangaon facility near Pune and thus it will be priced aggressively in the Indian market. If we are not too wrong then expect the Jeep Compass prices to start from INR. 20 Lakh onward.
The Jeep Compass will no doubt be an interesting deal keeping the Indian market in mind. Offcourse the local assembly of this product means that it will prices aggressively and for under 20 Lakh Indian people will not only get to enjoy the Jeep brand but a product which is well designed, well executed and also can prove its capability when the roads gives up on you. But you all have to wait till 2017 end to get your hands on this one.
