2018 Jaguar F-Type
The Brit Sportscar was recently caught testing at the Nurburgring
Jaguar introduced their latest sportscar three years ago and this has to be one of the most proffered sportscars which not only won many prestigious awards but also helped others purist to believe and have their faith restored in the British Auto brand once again. The two door Coupe is available in both roadster as well as coupe format. Later Jag actually added couple of other variants as well including the recently launched F-Type SVR which produces about 575 Hp of peak power.
Recently our spy photographers caught what seems to look like an updated F-Type at the Nurburgring. The car which was caught testing was wrapped in heavy camouflage and as usual Jaguar is hiding every information they possibly can. Although what seems to us is that the updated Jaguar will be getting few changes on its exterior while there will also be some changes made to its interior as well. We are not too sure if jaguar will seriously also think to add some more horses under the hood.
The F-Type is definitely popular not only in the International market but Indian market as well at the same time. Although a lot has changed in the three years and there is some new cars too which has great capability to dethrone the Brit sportscar. So now that the updated car has shown up will it be any better than the current F-Type.

The F-Type was and still is one of the best looking sportscars of the present time. The car pays tribute to the iconic E-Type and carries some of its styling cues as well. The long front bonnet and the short overhang give this sportscar the desired shape. The best part of this F-Type is it does not look like a hooligan and magaes to blends the sportiness and elegance perfectly at the same time.

Now for those who loved the current F-type design will be happy to hear that Jag is making no serious changes to the exterior. The car which was spotted testing at the Nurburgring was wrapped in heavy camouflage but few details like the front grille which looked little smaller as compared to the previous generation car but it still retains the same shape like the current car. The lower bumper definitely also looks new and although it gets wrapped pretty tight leaving us no scope of getting even the slightest glimpse but you can expect it to get bigger vents just like the ones we saw in the new F-Type SVR variant. Coming to the headlamps which actually gives the car new character what it seem s to us is that the new car will get a redesigned headlamp unit as well which will give new character to the sporstcar.
Take a look at the spyshots of the side profile of the car and you will instantly recognize that there are no serious changed made to side profile. Offcourse there can be minor change which might show in the form of a newly designed side skirts. Besides it will also get some newly designed wheels as well but apart from all that that there will be no major change.
Walk towards the rear and you will notice that the taillamps looks slightly updated as well but a tons of thanks to the designing team for not messing with the overall shape of the taillamp which actually is one of the major attractions of the exterior styling. Towards the lower half of the rear profile the single central exhaust really caught our attention. The centrally positioned exhaust gets two exhaust outlet which perhaps looks better than the separately positioned unit. There is also a new rear wing which has been added as well which perhaps will be replaced with a more functional active wing later when the car actually launches.
Unfortunately there were no images of the interior available as of yet of the updated F-Type but we can actually guess that the updated F-Type won’t be getting any major changes inside. We all love the driver focused cabin which just like its exterior matches well with the overall interior. Take for example the multifunction three spoke steering wheel, the comfortable and contoured sports seats which are covered with plush leather, the well positioned controls layout everything looks well designed.
However Jaguar will definitely add some new elements as well to update the interior, this updated might include a new infotainment system with bigger central mounted display. There is also a chance that Jaguar might upgrade the new F-Type’s sound system as well.
The current car is available with two drivetrains, the smaller V6 and a bigger and more powerful V8 unit. There is a fair chance that Jaguar might introduce an entry level F-Type as well to compete with cars like the Porsche 718. If they does that it will most probably get a smaller drivetrain as well.
As far as the other existing drivetrains are concerned, the 3.0 Liter V6 unit which powers the base F-Type produces about 340 Hp of peak power. All that power is sent to the rear wheels via the six-speed manual transmission while there is also an eight-speed automatic transmission as well which comes with paddle-shifters positioned behind the steering wheel. The top end variant gets the 5.0 Liter, Supercharged unit which produces about 550 Hp of peak power. This same unit has been tuned to produce 575 Hp in the more aggressive SVR variant.
The updated F-Type which will hit the markets within next few years will perhaps get an updated drivetarin along with its exterior and interior. The updated drivetrain will be more powerful while at the same time will also be fuel efficient. The more power will definitely up the performance figures of the current car and thus expect it to sprint from 0-100 km/h mark quicker by a second or two while the top speed will perhaps also be increased by some impressive numbers as well.
The updated F-Type was caught in public for the first time and thus no details of the prices or the launch date are available at this moment. However if Jaguar decides to make some serious changes to the upcoming F-Type then get ready to pay more than the current car.
Although there are plenty of competition for this F-Type in the International market but it competes with the Mercedes AMG GT in the Indian market. The AMG GT was launched last year and picked up lot of interest from the people. Powered by a 4.0 Liter V8 biturbo engine which has been designed specially for the GT. This drivetrain produces about 456 hp of peak power at 6000 rpm and 443 LB-FT @ 1600-5000 RPM. 0-100 km/h sprint takes about 4.0 seconds.
The F-type no doubt will engrave its name in the hall of fame wall with few other legendary jags in the coming years. It was a hit instantly and the credit will definitely go to the person who was one of the main mind behind designing it, Ian Callum.
Expect the updated F-Type to stick true to its original design while adding the much needed updates to make things more interesting. The drivetrain will also be updated for more power and better fuel efficiency at the same time.
The updated F-Type definitely will help carry the current cars legacy forward while also blending itself with the new rules of the automotive industry.
