A rear wheel drive Huracan which could also provide the pleasure of open top driving
Lamborghini expanded their Huracan lineup further by introducing the rear wheel drive variant of the Huracan Spyder at the 2016 LA Motor show.
As the name suggests, all the 5.2-litre V10 units 572 Bhp is sent to the rear wheels via the 7 speed duel clutch transmission. Now offcourse! This is a Lamborghini and the performance figures on this open top Coupe surely does justice to the car. The Huracan Spyder is capable of sprinting from 0-100 km/h mark in just 3.6 seconds while it can attain a top speed of 319 km/h mark. The car weighs just 1509 kilograms which actually helps it to receive an impressive power to weight ratio of 2.6 kg/hp. The Huracan’s stiff aluminium and carbon fibre chassis helps in improving the handling further. The suspension system has also been optimized to handle two wheel drive settings. Furthermore the weight reduction of the Convertible too has been biased to 40 percent towards the front and 60 percent towards the rear.
As far as the styling is concerned the Huracan Spyder RWD is concerned the entire front and rear of the Spyder variant has been redesigned completely to make it look different from the four wheel drive variant. The rear wheel drive Spyder variant gets slightly bigger front air intakes which direct cold air directly to the headwind to which increases down pressure on the front axles. The Huracan Spyder variant also gets specially developed Pirelli P-Zero tyres especially designed for this car which is actually wrapped around 19 inch Kari rims. The RWD open top Huracan also gets specially contoured steel brakes with aluminum brake disc pots assist which actually helps in weight reduction improved cooling and also weight reduction.
Both the cars share the same drivetrain
Renault and Datsun both have issued a recall of their respective hatchbacks the Redi-GO and the KWID recently. The latest recall has been issued to rectify a faulty fuel hose and clip which could result in disruption in fuel supply to the engine which might result in disrupted fuel supply.
The recall has been issued for both the KWID as well as the Datsun redi-GO hatchback because both this car shares the same components under the skin.
Renault has recalled a total of 50, 000 units of the car which were produced in between October 2015 and May 2016. In case of the Datsun redi-GO the cars produced in between June and May 2016 were only affected so which leads to a total of 932 units. Both these cars are produced at the same Renault-Nissan alliance factory located in Chennai.
However the good thing is that the recall has affected only the 0.8 Litre model however the recently introduced 1.0 Litre model does not have any issues. Now because Renault shares the same drivetrain with the redi-GO hatchback as well thus both these cars are facing the same issue.
The Renault KWID definitely is the most successful model from Renault in Indian market. The hatchback is powered by 0.8 Litre, three cylinder SCe petrol unit which is paired to a 5 speed manual transmission. Renault also introduced a powerful 1.0 Litre variant too was introduced recently as well.
The Suzuki Ignis will be sold through the Nexa outlets
Maruti has definitely won hearts of many when they launched the Vitara Brezza this year to make their presence felt in the compact SUV segment. The sale of the compact SUV has already touched 50, 000 mark. Besides the Brezza, Maruti was also able to able to hit the sweet spot when they launched the Baleno premium hatchback, both these vehicles demands are high and so are their waiting periods which speaks of their success in the market.
While the waiting period of the Baleno hatchback has touched 33 weeks, the Vitara Brezza hatchback has a waiting period of 27 weeks. However to meet the demands of this vehicles Maruti has actually raised the production of the Baleno by 25 percent.
Mr. RS Kalsi, ED, Marketing & Sales of Maruti Suzuki spoke to CNBC TV18 where he said that the festive demands this year are high compared to last year and the demands of both the Brezza and the Baleno are well beyond what the officials expected. He later also added that Maruti will also be introducing the new Ignis Crossover this fiscal only but in Q4, which means the launch will happen in between the period of January to March 2017.
The Maruti Ignis when launched will be sold via the Nexa outlets across India which currently sells two products including the SX4 Crossover and the Baleno hatchback.
The checking and the replacement will be done free of cost
Hyundai Motor India Ltd has issued a recall of their entry level Eon hatchback in India. Hyundai has recalled 7, 657 units of the Eon to inspect and perhaps also change the Clutch Cable Fouling with Battery Cable.
The South Korean auto manufacturer has recalled a total of 7, 657 units of the Eon manufactured in between January 2015 – 31st January 2015. Hyundai will inform and notify their customers in a phased manner for the inspection purpose. The manufacturer will inspect the clutch cable fouling with Battery Cable and replace it immediately if found damaged entirely free of cost.
Hyundai as a responsible automaker makes sure that quality product is offered to their customers. Back in 2014 Hyundai Motors had recalled about 2,437 units of their flagship SUV offering Santa Fe to actually inspect a faulty stop lamp switch. The recall issue has now become a daily routine for the Auto manufacturer to keep in check the safety of the customers.
The Eon in particular has been here in the Indian market for quite some time now and is extremely popular hatchback in this segment as well. Offered with a choice of two engine options which includes the 0.8 Litre and a more powerful 1.0 Litre unit the small hatchback from the South Korean automaker is definitely a worthy rival to the other entry level hatchbacks which includes the Maruti Alto800, Renault KWID and the Datsun Redi-Go.
Tata Motors has big plans and strategy for their future products
According to a latest reports on ET Auto Tata Motors has decided not to launch the Tata Kite 5 sedan this year and instead pushed back the launch date to year 2017.
The reason for such a delay is because Tata Motors wants to reevaluate their product portfolio for the Indian market. The officials also want to make some changes to the overall design as well which includes improving the quality of the products and also minimize the overall cost of these upcoming product by talking with the local vendors.
Tata Motors have realized the aggressive pricing of product is the key point which draws crowd towards any product. Their recently launched budget hatchback Tiago did really well in the Indian market because of this strategy. Thus Tata motors is looking for possibilities where they could actually bring the cost down and offer an aggressive product to their Indian customers while maintaining the overall quality as well at the same time.
The Indian Auto manufacturer will thus follow the same strategy for their Kite 5 compact sedan as well as the Nexon compact SUV. There is a fair chance that the upcoming Kite 5 sedans prices will undercut some other compact sedans available in the Indian market like the Swift Dzire or the Hyundai Xcent. If thing goes according to plan then there is no doubt that the Tiago will be the cheapest compact sedan of the Indian Auto market.
An overall growth rate of 22 percent all thanks to the KWID hatchback
Renault India which is one of the fastest growing automotive brands of India registered highest ever monthly sales growth in the month of August 2016. The French automaker sold a total of 12,972 units last month as against 1, 527 units during the same corresponding month last year.
While their cumulative sales figures for the month of January to August 2016 stands at 86,835 as compared to 26,559 units in the corresponding period last year resulting in an overall growth rate of 22 percent.
The credit for the reason behind the success of Renault definitely goes to their entry level offering KWID as well as the Duster SUV. The KWID has definitely won millions of hearts with the package that it is offering for that amount of money. Not only is this particular entry level hatchback is a good value for money product but at the same time it definitely is also giving a tough competition to its rivals Maruti Suzuki and their particular product Alto800.
What is even more interesting is also the fact Renault recently introduced the more powerful 1.0 Litre unit of the KWID as well which will help cement the nameplate further. Apart from launching the KWID 1.0 Litre unit Renault also introduced the new Lodgy World Edition as well as the refreshed Duster in India recently.
Besides all that Renault is also trying to increase the sales network simultaneously by the end of the year 2016 while at the same time also enhancing the customer brand experience.
Lots of new products and upgrades coming soon from their stable
According to the recent reports Maruti Suzuki will enter the big water of the Indian auto industry by trying to expand their product portfolio. What it seems like Maruti is now trying to break boundaries and think beyond small cars.
According to Maruti officials, they are actually quite overwhelmed with the response that they have received from their Ciaz sedan and the Vitara Brezza SUV. The official also said that until now people were only interested in small cars but now they are looking for slightly more premium cars. Thus they need to quickly think of something to fulfil these needs and demands.
There is no denying in the fact that Maruti’s entry level car Alto faced perhaps its biggest threat recently from Renault’s entry level offering KWID. It is quite clear that the KWID is a b etter value for money product than the Alto. The official also said that they are now planning to even upgrade their entry level offering Alto to go head to head with its rivals. The only reason why people still rely on the Maruti brand is because of their strong sales and service network.
Keeping all this aside, initially Maruti has plans to introduce their first hot hatchback the Baleno RS in India during the festive season which will then be followed by the new Ignis premium Crossover. The Crossover will challenge the likes of the Ford Ecosport and the Mahindra TUV300 and will be more affordable and positioned below the Vitara Brezza.
The new Bolero gets a completely different engine under its hood
We have already informed all of you earlier that Mahindra is all set to introduce a new variant of the Bolero soon in India. According to Motor Octane’s latest reports this upcoming SUV will be called Bolero Power+ and will be their latest sub-4meter offering in the Indian market.
As far as the styling is concerned do not expect a lot of change made to the exterior of the vehicle. Mahindra has actually redesigned the Bumper and the Bonnet area to reduce the overall length of this SUV. There most probably will be no other changes on the SUV’s overall exterior apart from some new sticker work. According to the reports this will actually be a sub-4 meter SUV which means that the soon to be launched SUV will get all the tax benefits. Thus also expect the pricing to be lower than the existing Bolero variants as well.
As far as the interiors are concerned expect this SUV to offer seats for seven passengers just like any of their compact SUV’s like the Nuvosport or the TUV300. The report also states that Mahindra will not curtail any feature found on the bigger Bolero and thus this smaller variant will also get almost all the feature carried over the standard Bolero SUV including the digital instrument cluster as well.
Will launch the sportier variant of the Tiago instead
According to the latest report Tata Motors dismissed the plans of launching the more loaded version of the Bolt hatchback as of now. But do not get upset or sad instead of Tata launching the Bolt Sport might actually introduce the Sportier version of their more popular hatchback Tiago.
Tata Bolt Sport was unveiled towards the beginning of this year at the Delhi Auto expo and it attracted quite an attention because apart from the cosmetic upgrades the Bolt Sport also actually featured a more powerful engine under its hood. But when it came to making it a reality the poor sales figures of the Bolt hatchback actually kept Tata motors thinking whether they will go ahead with the idea or not. If Tata would have launched the Bolt Sport in India they would have targeted a price range of below 8 Lakh rupees to actually price it below the Fiat Punto Abarth which would have been its biggest rival.
So a source close to Tata Motors revealed that they are pretty sure of the fact that they cannot achieve the necessary numbers in sales to make the Bolt Sport a success in India. However they have now shifted their focus on making a hot hatch variant of the more fuel efficient and better selling Tiago instead.
Tiago is currently Tata’s most popular hatchback
After Maruti and Hyundai it’s time for Tata Motors to hike their product prices. Fortunately at this moment Tata has not hiked the prices of their entire model lineup but only of their popular hatchback Tiago which was launched not so long ago. Tiago when launched four months back was priced in between INR. 3.2 lakh to Rs 5.54 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
There is no doubt that the Tiago was an instant hit from the day it was launched and until now Tata has already received bookings for over 40, 000 units. According to the latest report Tata Motors has increased the prices of all the Tiago variants by atleast INR. 6,000 - 8,000. However that is not all Tata might also increase the prices of this hatchback further more during the festive season. Currently the Tiago has a waiting period of atleast 3 to 4 months which speaks of its demand.
To deal with the demand the auto maker is actually re-scheduling the production to their Sanand production plant. Compared to the Bolt and the Zest the Tiago definitely proved to be their most successful product until now.
The hatchback gets Tata’s new ‘Impact’ design language and is offered with the choice of 1.2-litre petrol motor capable of producing about 85 PS motor and 114Nm of torque. The 1.05 Litre diesel motor on the other hand churns out about 70 Ps of peak power and 140 Nm of torque. Both the engines are paired to the same 5 speed manual transmission.
The new models will make it towards the end of this year
We all seriously expected that Maruti will be launching the Ignis Crossover in the month of August 2016 in India whereas the hotter variant of the Baleno hatchback will be launching here towards the festive season. But according to the recent reports Maruti has actually postponed the launch of the Ignis Crossover as well as the Baleno RS variant by few more months.
The Ignis will now most probably launch here in the month of October or November 2016 whereas the much awaited Baleno RS hatchback will only make it to the Indian market towards the early 2017. Both these cars will be produced at the automakers Maneswar plant where the Baleno hatchback is also currently being produced.
Now the reason for this delay is that the carmaker is actually facing a large backorder for both their newly introduced products including the Baleno as well as the Vitara Brezza compact SUV which is in high demand. The waiting period of both the hatchback and the compact SUV now ranges in between 6-9 months. The demand for the top end variants of the Vitara Brezza is definitely the highest.
So for now Maruti has decided not to actually add another model to their lineup and first clear the backlog of their existing products. The carmaker actually also has increased the production capacity of the Vitara Brezza from 8000 units to 10, 000 units while the Baleno production too has been increased from 8000 to 12, 000 units.
Both the hatchback and sedan now becomes even more affordbale
We have definitely got some good news for the Indian customers who are planning to buy a new car for their family. Ford India has actually slashed prices of their Figo hatchback and the Aspire sedan between INR. 25, 000-91, 000, this definitely came to us as a surprise because while other Auto makers are actually increasing the prices of their existing products Ford has actually done the opposite.
Ford launched both the Figo and the Aspire back in 2015 and while the new generation Figo replaced its predecessor here the Aspire sedan was launched to take on its other compact sedan rivals in India. Both these cars featured segment first six airbags for the safety of the passengers inside, while it also featured SYNC with AppLink.
As a result of the cut in prices the new Ford Figo Aspire sedan will now cost you INR. 680,150 (Ex-showroom Delhi) for the Petrol variant and INR. 789, 850 (Ex-Showroom Delhi) for the top end Titanium+ trims. While the Next generation Figo hatchback top end trim will set you back INR. 628,700 (Ex-Showroom Delhi) for the Petrol variant and INR. 717,750 (Ex-Showroom Delhi) for the Diesel variant. These prices are applicable with immediate effect.
