Future plans and expected products details!
Many Indians might still not be familiar with the Kia brand name yet, but for all your information Kia Motors Corporation is also a South Korean Auto manufacturer just like Hyundai. The Seoul based Auto maker is planning to enter the Indian market with their array of new products to attract the attention of people.
The reports state that they are investing around $1.1 billion in building its very first factory in India. Kia Motors Indian website has also gone live recently which also reveals their factory location. Kia chose Anantapur District of Andhra Pradesh to build their new facility which will have a production capacity of 300,000 units annually. The plant is set up on 23 million square feet (2.16 Km² or 536 acres) site area. Their official Indian website also reveals that they have started taking dealer and job applications as well.
Although Kia has not announced their Indian lineup yet, they are planning a dealer roadshow soon, and thus you can expect Kia to showcase some products which definitely will also be launched in the Indian market. Kia Motors will enter the Indian market and start selling their cars from the year 2019.
Some reports online state that Kia will enter the Indian market with a compact sedan and an SUV while they will later also introduce some new cars as well. There are possibilities that their first small car is none other than the Kia Rio. The fourth generation Rio sedan was showcased recently at the 2017 New York Auto show.
For all information, Hyundai Motors even owns a minor stake in Kia and thus when they finally launch their products expect them to be highly localised and might even share some of its parts with Hyundai products as well.
Honda officially discontinues the Mobilio from India
After its disappointing sales performance for the past one year or so Honda Cars India Limited was forced to take the harsh decision, they finally did stop selling the Mobilio MPV in India. The Mobilio was even taken down from their official website which confirmed the news.
To everyone’s surprise, the Mobilio MPV was a new model launched back only in the year 2014. The car was launched to take on its biggest rival the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga which was selling like hot pancakes back then. During the time of its introduction and even after a year of its launch the MPV was selling in real numbers, it even went on to beat its rivals. However, the increasing popularity of the SUV’s and decreasing demand of MPV cars recently could also be one the primary reasons for its poor sales figures.
The Mobilio was a relatively large car which underpinned the same platform that also supported the Amaze and the Brio. This MPV sourced its power from the same 1.5 Litre petrol and diesel engine which powers the City sedan. Honda even launched a sportier version of the MPV called the Mobilio RS to attract more attention of the customers and also to increase the falling sales figures. Although the standard MPV hasn’t received any updates since its launch, the RS variant did get few cosmetic updates in the form of a sportier front and rear bumpers and a spoiler, but it still was not enough.
According to HCIL because of the decline in the personal use of MPV segment, they have decided not to sell the Mobilio in Indian market anymore. However, Honda will ensure the availability of spare parts for their existing customers while the dealers will also continue the service of the current cars.
More power means better performance figures!
The reason why we are interested in this particular news is that all the three models which include the XE, XF and F-Pace are for sale in the Indian market. The good news is that Jaguar has decided to introduce a new 2.0 Litre four-cylinder turbocharged powerplant which will be capable of producing g about 300 Ps of peak power and an equally impressive 400 Nm of peak torque. This state of the art powerplant not only enhances the performance if the Jaguar models but is fuel efficient and low on emission at the same time. Now there is a fair chance of Jaguar introducing this petrol engine in India with all the three models.
The engine is paired to Jaguar Land Rover’s advanced ZF eight-speed automatic transmission which promises to provide butter smooth gearshifts along with outstanding performance. The engine is even available with both front as well as rear wheel drive option for the XE and the XF models. However, Jaguar is also giving the customers an opportunity to choose an all wheel drive transmission option as well.
Jaguar has given us a performance figure of what this engine is capable of doing under the hood of the all these above-mentioned cars.
The Huracan definitely is the best selling car of the Lamborghini lineup
Don’t get me wrong if I say that in the next few years the Huracan will become the top selling model in the Lamborghini lineup replacing their favourite now discontinued Gallardo. The Italian Sports car manufacturer recently rolled out chassis number 8,000, from their assembly line in Sant’Agata Bolognese.
Lamborghini introduced the Huracan back in 2014 as a replacement for their popular model Gallardo. Initially, Critics gave mixed reaction about this new Italian beauty and even raised doubts about its credibility. But as things settled the Huracan soon became favourite car amongst many automotive enthusiasts and even went on to replace the Gallardo and became the new wall poster for many.
Believe it or not within just three years of its launch Lamborghini already sold 8000 units of the Huracan almost reaching half way mark of its predecessor. Lamborghini was able to sell a total of 14, 022 units of the Gallardo since its launch which makes the Huracan the largest selling car in the Lamborghini history automatically.
Currently, the Huracan is available in five variants which include both coupe and spyder body style. There is also a wild Huracan Performante variant as well which is best suited for tracks. The entire Huracan range gets a 5.2 Litre V10 unit as standard. Available in three states of tune the V10 unit puts out about 510, 610 or 630bhp respectively depending on the variants. The export market has taken a hit because of the Retail drop of SCV in Sri Lanka after the steep increase in import tariffs in late 2016 and also because of weak demand in Nepal because of their election process.

The rumours of Chevrolet exiting Indian market were doing rounds on the internet for quite a long time. Now, finally, those rumours come true Chevrolet officially announced their departure from the Indian market yesterday although General Motors did say that their focus in India will now only be on exports.

Chevrolet cars like the Beat, Sail twins, Cruze and Trailblazer SUV will be discontinued from the Indian market by the end of this year. GM has already stopped operation of their Halol facility in April 2017. We are still not sure what forced General Motors to take such big decision, but we could certainly blame its poor sales figures and lack of new products as the main reasons.
Stefan Jacoby, GM executive vice president and president of GM International, said, "We explored many options, but determined the increased investment originally planned for India would not deliver the returns of other significant global opportunities. It would also not help us achieve a leadership position or compelling, long-term profitability in the domestic market. Difficult as it has been to reach this decision, it is the right outcome to support our global strategy and deliver appropriate returns for our shareholders." He also included that their decision in strengthening the performance of their GM international operation and establishing GM as a more focused and disciplined company.

Both the SUV and sedan has been discontinued from the Indian market
From what it looks like Renault India has discontinued the Koleos SUV from the Indian market. They have removed the SUV from their Indian official website as well Apart from the SUV it also seems that Renault has also discontinued their D segment sedan Fluence as well because this sedan too has been removed from their official website.
Although Renault hasn’t released any official statement yet but perhaps this was the right move for them. Both the Koleos and the Fluence does not have many takers in the Indian market mainly because of their steep pricing compared to their rivals. Some reports suggests that the manufacturer now wants to shift their focus entirely towards those particular products which has atleast 80 percent localisation and not to those products which are completely knocked down (CKD) and semi-knocked down (SKD) units.
Although the Koleos was assembled in India at the auto manufacturers plant but the kits were imported and as a result of all that the Koleos was actually priced way above its rivals which was the main reason of its low sales figures.
Renault has also plans to launch some new products which will be heavily localized and which also means that the overall prices will be priced quite aggressively.
After Tata Motors its time for Hyundai to increase prices of their vehicles

Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. Vice President, Sales and Marketing said, that the increasing challenges of the market at the year end and some other factors like increased input costs, fluctuating exchange rates and increasing marketing expenses has actually forced them to increase the prices of their products by upto INR. 1, 00, 000 which will be effective from January 2017 onward.
Apart from Hyundai Tata Motors too has recently announced hike in their vehicle prices starting from INR. 5, 000 to 25, 000 depending on the model. Now we still have to wait watch which auto manufacturer will walk in the same path and announce price hike in this month.
Currently their vehicle price range starts from 2.15 Lakh onward
Tata Motors has decided to hike the prices of their passenger vehicles from January 2017 onward. The decision of price hike was taken by Tata Motors due to various macro-economic factors. As a result of this price hike the automaker was forced to hike the prices of their vehicles. He also did mention that they were able to witness a demand and increase in the sales of their passenger cars in the past few months and all the credit goes to their recently launched hatchback Tiago. However he also added that they are also gearing up to launch the Hexa Crossover as well in the month of January 2017.
