All Chevrolet Cars to be discontinued by the end of 2017 however Chevrolet will provide after sales service to their existing customers
The rumours of Chevrolet exiting Indian market were doing rounds on the internet for quite a long time. Now, finally, those rumours come true Chevrolet officially announced their departure from the Indian market yesterday although General Motors did say that their focus in India will now only be on exports.
General Motors Telegaon assembly plant, will remain open and will be used as the export hub. As a result of their exit from Indian market General Motors now will slowly stop selling the Chevrolet cars in India by the end of the year 2017. Chevrolet cars like the Beat, Sail twins, Cruze and Trailblazer SUV will be discontinued from the Indian market by the end of this year. GM has already stopped operation of their Halol facility in April 2017. We are still not sure what forced General Motors to take such big decision, but we could certainly blame its poor sales figures and lack of new products as the main reasons.
Stefan Jacoby, GM executive vice president and president of GM International, said, "We explored many options, but determined the increased investment originally planned for India would not deliver the returns of other significant global opportunities. It would also not help us achieve a leadership position or compelling, long-term profitability in the domestic market. Difficult as it has been to reach this decision, it is the right outcome to support our global strategy and deliver appropriate returns for our shareholders." He also included that their decision in strengthening the performance of their GM international operation and establishing GM as a more focused and disciplined company.

Tata Motors have revamped their image for the Indian Automobile market; they already created a lot of hype with their hatchback offering Tiago. If you all remember alongside the Tiago hatchback, Tata had also showcased a Tiago based compact sedan back at the 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo as well. There was no doubt that both the Tiago hatchback and the compact sedan based on the hatchback grabbed people’s attention at the Auto show. The sub-4 meter car was codenamed Kite5 while later it was officially renamed as ‘Tigor’.
There is no denying the fact that Tata Motors started the trend of compact sedans in the Indian market with their product the Indigo ecs but later the segment was overtaken by its rivals. Tata Motors was determined to get their hold back once again here, and as a result of all that, they have launched some modern generation products with refined styling and improved overall interior and exterior. Their new generation products certainly worked for the Indian market, and after almost a year of launch, the Tiago hatch still sells like hot cakes.
Tata Motors used the same strategy and introduced the Tigor compact sedan as well based on the same hatchback platform. But Tata called it Styleback because it did not have the typical styling of a small car. As a matter of fact, the Tigor is the unique looking car of its segment. Look at this car which falls under budget compact sedans category, but it still has the appeal of a premium offering which will impress many.
Yes, the Tigor shares the same drivetrain with the Tiago hatchback gets the same face with few tweaks, but the similarities end there.

The company was not able to sell even a single unit of this MPV last month
It might come to many as a shock, but Honda has discontinued their only MPV offering Mobilio from the Indian market due to poor sales figures and demand. They will also decide within the next two months whether they will bring back the new version of the entry-level people mover or not.
The reports also suggest that the Japanese car maker has stopped manufacturing the vehicle and exhausted all their current stocks. Honda launched the Mobilio MPV back in July 2014, and it evidently impressed the crowd with its clean exterior and interior and even managed to outsell its biggest rival the Maruti Ertiga in India soon after its launch. Until now Honda was able to sell a total of 40, 789 units till date but the demand for the people mover declined slowly, and last month Honda was not able to sell even a single unit of this MPV.
The Honda officials said that they are still thinking and taking a decision on whether they will launch the facelifted model in the Country or not. India will implement the new safety regulations soon, and the current Mobilio does not match the safety confrontations. So to continue the sale of the vehicle the company needs to invest a lot of money to modify the car to make it compliant with the norms.
Now, the new car is already available for sale in the markets of Indonesia the company is thus still wondering whether to launch the facelifted car in India or not. The Mobilio was developed entirely at Honda’s R&D facility in Bangkok and was for sale exclusively for the Asian markets. During the time of the launch, the car was priced in between INR. 6.49 lakhs to INR. 10.49 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). The current prices of the base variant of the Mobilio rose to INR 7.38 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) presently.
The new generation XF now underpins a lightweight platform and is also priced quite aggressively
Jaguar launches the locally manufactured XF in India. The British Auto manufacturer’s most dynamic business sedan priced at INR. 47.50 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The premium sedan entered production at the company’s Pune plant. The XF now underpins a lighter aluminium iQ platform instead of the previous steel based platform. This new underpinning has resulted in a weight reduction of almost 190 kilograms from the overall kerb weight. Apart from the weight loss, the new platform is also much more rigid at the same time which has improved the overall handling as well.
The new-gen XF is shorter in length compared to its predecessor but has a longer wheelbase, and as a result, there has been no compromise in the interior space.
Coming to the drivetrains the locally manufactured XF gets a 2.0 Liter, four cylinder Ingenium diesel engine which is capable of producing about 180 hp of peak power and 430 Nm of peak torque. The petrol variant, on the other hand, gets the 2.0 Litre unit which produces about 240 Hp of peak power and 430 Nm of torque. Both the engines paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Jaguar offers a total of three trim levels for the new XF which include Pure, Prestige and Portfolio. While the Petrol variant offered with Prestige and Portfolio trim levels, the diesel variant is offered only with the Pure trim.
The S-Cross facelift looks mean and aggressive
The Indian automotive scenario has been changing drastically in last few years. Indian customers are opening up toward fresh new designs, new niche. The compact SUVs and crossovers have becoming more and more popular day by day in the country like the rest of the world. In 2015 Maruti-Suzuki also tried its luck in the compact crossover segment with the S-Cross.
Now with almost two year after the launch of the model the automaker has developed a facelift version of the S-Cross. Suzuki has showcased the facelifted S-Cross in front of a selected audience in Hungary. As we got a glimpse of the car, it looks absolutely mean compare to the outgoing model. Any SUV lover wants his car to be rugged looking. And the new S-Cross looks exactly so. It can impress with its aggressive styling.
Maruti discontinued the SX4 sedan and launched the S-Cross Crossover in the Indian market. But there is no denying the fact that the S-Cross was not able to leave an impression in the minds of the India Customers. The S-Cross was then completely erased from the mind when Maruti introduced the Vitara Brezza compact SUV which was priced almost in the same range of the Crossover.
Suzuki already introduced the facelift Crossover in some other International markets already and there is a fair chance of Maruti introducing the updated Crosssover soon in India. Although there are no official words from the manufacturer yet but we have decided to provide you some new details of facelift the Crossover.
Update 20.07.2016:- Suzuki Italia recently released a new video of the Suzuki S-Cross and we have added the video with this review do check the new S Cross in action

The new car gets some cosmetic updates and a completely new petrol drivetrain under the hood
Audi launched the all new A3 Cabriolet in India today; the open top variant of their entry-level sedan priced at INR. 47.98 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), the car is sold in the Indian market via the CBU route. Audi introduced the A3 Cabriolet 2 years ago in India and it still remains to be one of the most desirable and affordable premium convertibles of the Country.
The front profile of the Cabriolet like you all can expect has adorned the new face that you all have seen in the facelift A3 sedan. The front profile now gets tweaked LED headlamps which also integrate new LED daytime running lamps which is the signature styling of Audi. The slightly tweaked headlamps are an all LED unit now. Apart from the headlamps the front profile also gets a slightly more pronounced hexagonal grille. The front bumper too looks even sportier and aggressive because of the slightly bigger air vents. While the side profile remains unchanged though the only change that the rear profile of the Cabriolet has received comes in the form of slightly tweaked LED taillamp.
The low demand of the smaller diesel engine has forced Maruti to take such a big decision
It looks like Maruti has taken the decision to discontinue the Celerio Diesel variant from the Indian market. The good news is that petrol variant of the Celerio is still on sale in India, but the diesel variant totally disappeared from their Indian website recently.
Maruti launched the Celerio hatchback back in 2014 and during the time of its launch the hatchback was offered only with a petrol engine under the hood. Later, after almost a year, Maruti added the diesel variant as well to the lineup.
The diesel mill which used to power the celery was a completely new unit which was developed by Maruti engineers. The small 793 cc unit produced about 47 bhp peak power at 3,500 RPM and 125 NM torque at 2,000 RPM. Now compared to some other rivals of this segment the power and torque figures were less, but keeping the size of the 2 cylinder engine in mind the power output were quite impressive. The car definitely returned an impressive fuel efficiency figure of 27.6 kmpl which was definitely the highest fuel efficiency figures of its segment. Besides the impressive fuel efficiency figures the diesel engine was also one of the lightest units weighing only 89 Kilograms courtesy the aluminium engine blocks.
Now when Maruti introduced this new engine the trend of the smaller diesel engine was quite popular because of the increasing petrol prices. But recently the Market situation changed completely and the consumers were inclined towards petrol engines only because of the lesser gap in between both fuel prices.
The complete list of hatchbacks under the Crossover skin
Given the fact of immensely rising popularity of compact SUVs and crossovers in the Indian market, it is a no surprise how deeply we Indians have a thing for owning SUVs. It is this serious love for SUVs among Indian customers of today, which is why all the manufactures, especially the global ones, have gone back to their design tables and come up with models which are designed in India for the world. Such is the fascination for SUVs among Indians, that the automakers are not shying off from coming up with hatchback based crossovers.
A category of vehicles rather unheard globally, the hatchback based crossovers come with some added design elements and changes inside and out, which make them look more rugged than their hatchback counterparts. Though, it doesn’t mean that they are off-road ready, for the changes are just aesthetic rather than being functional. The majority of the automakers have taken this rather unique step to raise their sales in the market, which surprisingly is paying them as well.
In this feature story, we are throwing some light on all those hatchback based crossovers, which have turned to be game changers for their respective parent manufacturers. Following is a complete list of all such hatchbacks which look like jacked up SUVs.
