The best selling SUV from Hyundai has just recieved subtle updates and a completely new trim level

Hyundai has launched the updated 2017 Creta SUV in India. The updated Creta SUV now gets cosmetic as well equipment upgrade to it. Apart from getting exterior as well as interior update, Hyundai who also happens to India’s second largest car manufacturer has decided to add an exclusive diesel trim in the form of a new Executive variant ‘E+ trim while there is one more trim in the form of SX+ which gets dual tone trim to it.

Unfortunately, Hyundai has decided not to make any changes under the hood and thus this popular SUV still offered with 1.6-litre Dual VTVT petrol, 1.6 Litre CRDi VGT diesel unit and 1.4L CRDI U2 diesel engine options.

EXTERIOR

There are no significant changes made to the exterior of the SUV however it does get a new SX+ Dual tone trim which offers Piano Black Finish Roof Top & Sporty Black Spoiler. This new dual tone trim will be provided with two body colour combinations in the form of two colour combinations White & Black and Red & Black. This trim also gets a 17-inch diamond cut alloy rims which were only available with SX+ Auto and SX(O) until now.

Apart from the changes mentioned above, there are no other changes made to the exterior of the SUV. The SUV is offered with a total of 9 exterior body colour options.

INTERIOR

Just like the exterior the interior too has received minor changes as well while the SX+ Dual tone trim gets an all black interior with red and black fabric upholstery, the other trims continue with the same Black and Beige interior.

The only significant change made to the interior comes in the form of a new 7-inch AVN system which gets integrated with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link connectivity. Furthermore the Arkamys Sound Mood system now also comes as standard with the Creta S+, SX+, SX+ Dual Tone & SX(O) trims.

Hyundai also introduced a new Executive Variant ‘E+’ trim which gets the 1.4 Litre Diesel under the hood. This trim gets 2-Din Audio with AUX, USB and MP3, Electrically adjustable ORVM with LED turn indicators, Rear AC Vents and a luggage lamp for more comfort & convenience of the occupants.

DRIVETRAIN

Like we already mentioned earlier the Hyundai Creta SUV is offered with a choice of two diesel and a single petrol engine options under its hood.

The only petrol variant on offer is powered by the 1.6L Dual VTVT unit which is capable of producing about 123 Ps of peak power at 6,400 rpm and 15.4 Kgm of torque at 4,850 rpm. The smaller diesel variant on offer gets the 1.4 Litre CRDi unit which is capable of producing about 90 Ps of peak power at 4,000 rpm and 22.4 Kgm of torque at 1,500 - 2,750 rpm. The more power powerful 1.6L CRDi unit produces about 128 Ps of peak power at 4,000 rpm and 26.5 Kgm of torque at 1,900 - 2,750 rpm. Transmission option on offer is 6-speed manual and a 6 speed Automatic.

CONCLUSION

Hyundai has recently launched updated Elite i20 and now they have also decided to upgrade their Creta SUV as well. Unfortunately the 2017 model year SUV does not get any mechanical changes under the hood, but it does get a new infotainment system, a whole new trim and along with a new dual tone exterior shade.
