The Hyundai Verna concept previews the upcoming India bound next generation Hyundai Verna

Hyundai has recently fulfilled its glorious 20 years in Indian market. The compact sedan segment of Indian market is highly competitive and contested segment. Hyundai has been a major player in the segment. Although the Hyundai Verna might not be a popular model in the segment, but it is one of the prime models for the South Korean automaker in the country.

Recently at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show Hyundai showcased the 2017 Hyundai Verna Concept, which was the preview of the upcoming next generation Verna compact sedan. The new model comes with modern generation design language which is seen incorporated in several Hyundai models. The new compact sedan will hit the Indian market sometime in 2017. Before that, the new Verna will launch in South Korea this year. In other markets, the Hyundai Verna is known as the Accent or Solaris.

The next generation Hyundai Verna would come incorporating the new generation design language known as Fluidic Sculpture 2.0. The front fascia gets a completely redesigned front grille. It sports a hexagonal shaped aggressive looking front grille with diamond pattern grille, which sports the Hyundai logo at the centre. The front grille is highlighted with chrome accent. The headlamps of the next generation Hyundai Verna has been redesigned also. The new headlamps get a sharp look and come with integrated LED daytime running lights. The lower front fascia looks aggressive and stylish as well. It gets a wide air intake with unusual shaped sharp LED fog lamps at both ends.

The side profile sports sharp character lines running from behind the front fender and meeting the taillights. The side profile looks similar to the outgoing Verna except the redesigned C pillar. The wheel arches look huge housing the sporty alloy wheels. The side turning indicator integrated wing mirrors, blackened glass area, nicely curved roofline add on the appeal to the car. The roofline flows and meets almost the rear end tip of the car. The rear profile gets wrap around sharp taillamps, sharp cuts and creases around, a rear spoiler atop the boot lid, and a shark fin antenna.

Dimensionally, the next generation Hyundai Verna would get a 2600 mm of wheelbase, which will be 30 mm longer than the outgoing Fluidic Verna.


Although Hyundai didn’t reveal the interior of the car, but the interior of the car would sport a fresh look as well. It might get a redesigned dashboard complemented by multifunction steering wheel, sleek and stylish instrument cluster, a redesigned centre console. The 300 mm of added wheelbase will enhance the space inside the cabin, which will offer more spacious and comfortable journey for the rear occupants.


The 2017 Hyundai Verna will get a 1.4 litre and a 1.6 litre engines under the hood. In the Indian market, the petrol engine will be a 1.6 litre unit, while the diesel variants will come with a 1.4 litre unit and a 1.6 litre CRDi engine. The transmission duty will be done by a 6 speed manual gearbox, and a 7 speed DCT as option.
