Toyota is known for their effort to make the environment better by manufacturing hybrid cars like Toyota Camry Hybrid, Prius. They are known as the pioneer of hybrid technology. To promote the hybrid and electric vehicles in India they took part in the “FAME India Eco Drive” rally which is an awareness rally to be run in between three cities - Delhi, Jaipur and Chandigarh. This rally is being organized by the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MoHI) and it started from Red Fort of New Delhi on 26th November. In this several hybrid and electric powered cars is running to promote the awareness of energy conservation.
The rally promotes mass adoption of hybrid and electric powertrain for vehicles under the National Scheme on Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME) India. The rally will arrive in Jaipur on 30th November and Chandigarh on 7th December 2015. Started from Red Fort of New Delhi, it covered Connaught Place, Maitry College, NH-8, MG Road in Gurgaon, District Collectorate in Gurgaon and concluded at MDI Gurgaon. More than 50 hybrid and electric vehicles from different auto makers took part in the rally.
Speaking at the flag off ceremony Mr. T.S Jaishankar, the Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor has said, "India emerges as the 4th largest consumer of energy in the world, following the US, China and Russia in energy accounting for 4.4% of global energy consumption. We feel privileged to be a part of the FAME Eco Drive to educate and encourage the use of full hybrid vehicles in India. Toyota Camry Hybrid is the first ever locally manufactured full hybrid vehicle with 48% more fuel efficiency and emits 25% lesser CO2 when compared to the car of the same size in petrol variant. From fuel efficient vehicle to developing ground breaking technology, our focus is on environmentally sustainable solutions in everything we do and every vehicle we make. The recently notified demand incentives for buyers by the Govt, in the form of an upfront reduced purchase price of environment friendly vehicles will give a boost to the demand and encourage faster adoption of these vehicles in India."
Remember the Ferrari LaFerrari, Porsche 918 and the McLaren P1? Those are all the latest breed of hybrid hypercars that combine the benefits of internal combustion engine and electric power to deliver maximum performance and consume very little fuel at the same time.
But this new technology was being implemented before these cars came out. The Toyota Prius is well know for its power train.
Now, as we see the world move towards hybrid engines, the Prius is the car that started it all. It is the world’s first hybrid car.
The first generation of the car was launched in 1997 as a compact sedan. It was sold only in Japan. In 2000, the sales of the Prius went global. The second generation, which was launched in 2003, was introduced as a hatchback and the third generation came out in 2009.
The Prius is sold in 90 different countries with Japan and the United States being its largest markets. Worldwide sales crossed the 3 million milestone in June 2013.
With every new generation, Toyota tries to improve the fuel efficiency by around 10 percent and this too, it has succeeded. This is a very tough task to achieve.
But one of the main drawbacks of the Prius was that it was a very boring car to drive. With the fourth generation however, Toyota claims it has created the most fun to drive Prius ever. The car was launched in Las Vegas a few days back.
Maruti launched the Ciaz SHVS (Smart Hybrid vehicles by Suzuki) diesel in India today with prices starting at INR. 8.23 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

As far as the trim levels are concerned the Ciaz SHVS diesel carries the same trim levels which include base Vdi, Vdi(O), Vdi+, Zdi and Zdi+. According to Maruti Suzukii the Ciaz SHVS diesel will return about 28.09 kmpl, which actually also makes it most fuel efficient diesel car of India while the second position is also occupied by Maruti Suzuki’s very own product the Celerio diesel.

The car also gets equipped with gear shift indicator as well. The batteries which support the system are also high capacity batteries.
The Maruti Ciaz Hybrid Diesel will take on the likes of the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and also Volkswagen Vento Diesel.
The Ciaz has definitely helped Maruti Suzuki to get their foothold back in the midsize sedan segment of the country which was dominated by Honda since the day they introduced the City in Indian market.
The Ciaz was launched back in 2014 and it definitely attracted lot of attention as soon as it was launched and even was able to beat the City in sales number for some consecutive months. Now Maruti has decided to launch a mild-hybrid variant of the Ciaz sedan on September 1st 2015. Maruti is calling it Ciaz SHVS which actually stands for Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki.

And when you combine all these technology together the sedan promises to return a better fuel efficiency figures. Compared to the current Ciaz diesel model whihch returns about 26.21 Kmpl the Ciaz SHVS promises to return about 28 kmpl which actually will also help it earn the title of India’s most fuel efficient car.

We all will be able to witness another one of a kind creation from Lamborghini soon which will excel in departments of Design, technology and innovation because it is not an unknown fact anymore that the Italian exotic car manufacturer is already working on a new Hypercar which will most probably be unveiled at the 2016, Geneva Motor show in March.
According to the reports, the Hologram of their upcoming Hypercar was displayed to a selected few guests at the recently held Pebble Beach car show. This also acted as a teaser of what Lamborghini is planning for their future car. As mentioned above the new Hypercar will only be unveiled at the 2016, Geneva Motor show next March, so we all have to wait for that day. Now although nothing is clear or properly available to us at this moment but we are guessing that their new Hypercar will most probably be a hybrid and thus will rival the likes of Mclaren P1 and the Porsche 918.
Lamborghini already unveiled a Hybrid concept which came in the form of the Asterion concept last year but it never made it to production maybe because many didn’t liked the idea of Lamborghini plunging into the Hybrid auto market. But now it seems that Lamborghini officials has to say goodbye to their big gasoline engines for more power and embrace the Hybrid technology which is the future.
Hybrid cars are not popular in India yet, although it has great potential to come up to the front row. Moreover hybrid technology in automotive sector is still in its childhood, stage specially in India. The conventional mindset of Indian customers is the biggest reason for auto makers to not think fast enough about bringing hybrid cars here, but the exception is Toyota.
Courageous enough, they started developing hybrid technology in 1995, and started selling hybrid cars all around the world, with Indian market no difference, and gradually the sales figure increased.
Presently, Toyota sells hybrid cars like Camry hybrid, Esquire Hybrid (Japan only), Lexus RC300h, and recently launched Sienta Hybrid. They are set to bring more and more hybrids, such as the Corolla Hybrid and Levin Hybrid (China only) and RAV4 Hybrid. In India Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) first sold the Camry hybrid model, which gained popularity despite initial low confidence from the customers. In fact, Toyota Camry hybrid plays a great role in bringing and popularizing the hybrid technology in this country. Camry hybrid itself holds 80% market share of the hybrid car market in India at present.
Incidentally, various other auto manufacturers are trying to bring their hybrid cars here following the Toyota way.
The latest news is; Toyota has sold 8 million hybrid cars around the world. Indian customers too are showing keen interest about the new medium of power source. Thereafter Toyota sees this trend as a positive step towards saving fuel for future, and using alternate power resources. Not only that, using hybrid cars mean, less CO2 emission, which will result into reducing air pollution level. The famous auto manufacturer claims besides working on non hybrid cars they are relentlessly working on the hybrid car technology as well as trying to enhance the performance, reducing costs and producing more units.
