The City sedan has been here in the Indian market for quite some time now and has ruled the segment with its road presence and that impressive IVTEC motor. Then when it was time Honda introduced the diesel motor as well along with a few other updates. Now with the rising competition, Honda has actually decided to introduce the facelift variant City sedan after almost three years since it’s got its last update. This is a mid-cycle update that the car will receive before Honda introduces the new generation sedan.
Honda has already unveiled the 2017 City sedan facelift last month in Thailand and it will also make it to the Indian shores on 14th February 2017. Honda has officially confirmed that they will be launching the updated sedan on the above mentioned date. What is even more interesting is that they have teased the soon to be launched sedan on a recently launched teaser video.
Now that we have received official confirmation from Honda about its launch, we have updated the preview article with all the information available at this moment.

The facelift sedan has received plenty of changes to its exterior, which actually has made the sedan look even sportier. The front profile looks like it has taken its inspiration from the new generation Civic and the Accord sedan.
If we talk about styling then the new City facelift gets completely redesigned headlamps towards the front which now gets new LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights as well. Besides the new headlamp setup, the front bumper too has been redesigned as well. Like we already said the new City facelift sedan front profile now looks like it has been inspired from the new generation Civic. Besides the changes to the front the facelift City also gets a new diamond-cut and two-tone alloy wheels in both 15- and 16-inch sizes. The side profile does not get any more change though and looks identical to the pre-facelift car. Towards the rear, the City facelift has received an integrated boot spoiler which houses the LED brake lamps as well. The City also has received a LED taillamps at the rear as well.

On the inside, the City facelift features new beige upholstery with dual-tone beige and black trims. For the first time, the City has also received a completely new 7.7-inch Digipad touchscreen infotainment system. This infotainment system gets an integrated satellite navigation, voice recognition, and Mirror-Link system as well. This completely new system also gets 1.5 GB of internal memory and also features WiFi support for the internet. This new infotainment system is housed inside soft touch dashboard towards the passenger side.
The instrument cluster too gets a new white illumination while the engine push start too now gets White and Red illumination as well. The top end ZX grades also get a rear adjustable headrest as well.
Honda has not made any changes under the hood and thus the City facelift gets the same 1.5 Litre i-VTEC petrol engine which is capable of producing about 119 Ps of peak power at 6600 rpm and 145 Nm of peak torque at 4600 rpm. The engine is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission while there is also an option of a CVT transmission as well. The diesel variant, on the other hand, is powered by the 1.5 Litre i-DTEC diesel engine which is capable of producing about 100 ps of peak power at 3600 rpm and 200 Nm of peak torque at 1750 rpm. The diesel unit is paired only to a 6-speed manual transmission.
Talking about fuel efficiency figures the petrol motor promises to return around 17.4 kmpl (MT) and 18.0 Kmpl with the (CVT). The diesel unit, on the other hand, promises to return around 25.6 kmpl on the (SV, V) grades and 25.1 kmpl on the (VX, ZX) grades.

For the safety of the passengers inside the sedan gets a total of 6 airbags now this will definitely be available with the top end grades while the lower grades will get both driver and front side airbags. The other safety features which will also be available will come in the form of ABS and EBD.
Maruti Ciaz sedan is definitely the biggest competitor of the City sedan. The car was launched back in 2014 and since then it has won several hearts with is sharp exterior and plenty of features inside. Powered by a 1.4-litre K-series petrol engine this petrol engine is capable of producing about 91bhp of peak power at 4000 rpm and 130 Nm of peak torque at 4000 rpm. The engine is paired to a 5 speed manual gearbox. While the diesel variant is powered by 3 liter DDIS Fiat Sourced diesel engine which produces about 89 bhp of peak power at 4000 rpm and 200 Nm of peak torque at 1750 rpm. This engine too is paired to a 5 speed manual gearbox as well. There is also an automatic transmission available as well with the petrol variant.

The City facelift sedan although hasn’t received any major exterior or interior updates but it surely has received plenty to keep it updated until and unless Honda does not introduce the new generation City in the Indian market. Surely the City sedan with its updated interior and exterior ticks all the boxes and needs that a modern customer looks for in a car of this segment.
