Hyundai’s latest EV, the Ioniq 5, lands on the Indian soil; but don’t expect it to arrive at the dealerships anytime soon
Hyundai has built its new India headquarters in Gurugram. Haryana’s CM, Manohar Lal Khattar, inaugurated it in the presence of Hyundai India’s MD and CEO, Seon Seob Kim. While this is big news for Hyundai Corporate, for us enthusiasts, the cars there caught our attention. Hyundai noted that the headquarters will have 14 EV charging points, and at one of them, the new Ioniq 5 EV was on display. Given that the Ioniq 5 made its global debut earlier this year, it is surprising to see it in India. Was it just to give the headquarters a little more glamor, or is it a hint that the Ioniq 5 is going to make its Indian debut?
These cars will be well within the reach of average Indian buyers
Tata Motors recently announced their tie-up with Coimbatore-based Jayem Automotives to build performance-oriented vehicles recently. Like we already reported earlier this partnership would fully concentrate on performance oriented cars based on Tata Motors current product lineup. For all your information these cars will be developed under JT special vehicles PVT limited. So before we head into anything else let us first inform you all that Jayem Automotives is an independent Automotive R & D Company who designs, tests and manufacture a broad range of automotive components. Now, this type of collaboration is quite common amongst Auto manufacturers while some build their own units like Mercedes-AMG GMBH popularly known as Mercedes-AMG who hires independent engineers and manufacturers to customize Mercedes own product lineup. After Mercedes Jaguar too started operating their own special operational vehicles division which too develops performance oriented cars based on their current product. Then there is Fiat and Abarth.
While the names mentioned above are some of the high-ends luxury carmakers Tata Motors, on the other hand, will focus on performance-oriented cars which will be affordable and well within reach of average Indian buyers. Tata Motors and Jayem Automotives will build a workshop which will also have a design, assembly and testing facilities all under one roof. Now the reports suggest that this new collaboration will atleast be developing three cars soon and below provided are the three expected Tata Cars which will be prepared under this new 50:50 joint venture.
They will be developing performance oriented cars based on Tata’s current product lineup
Announcing this JV, Guenter Butschek, CEO and Managing Director, Tata Motors, said, “We are delighted to partner with Jayem, a brand known for its capabilities in concept creation and prototyping of special performance vehicles. This partnership is a step towards creating long-term relationships as a part of our transformation journey and to bring more exciting performance variants to our product range"
Commenting on this partnership, J Anand, Managing Director, Jayem Automotives Pvt Ltd, said, “We are excited about our joint venture with Tata Motors and to be a part of their transformation journey. We aim to bring World Class Performance Products to market in a short time, and to fulfill expectations of passionate customers in the niche segment of sportier cars.”
Although the company has not revealed anything on exactly when they are planning to bring these products to our Indian market, however, expect the first car from these new tie up venture to enter the Indian market towards the end of this year or early next year. Currently, the possibilities of these cars are being explored at the Coimbatore plant where JT Special Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. will develop a range of performance vehicles in a processed manner.
The Hypercar will most probably get a hybrid powertrain while a street legal variant is also on the cards
Aston Martin and Red Bull Advanced Technologies are developing a revolutionary Hypercar which was formerly codenamed as AM-RB 001, now officially being called Aston Martin Valkyrie.
The name starts with the letter ‘V’ which is actually Aston Martins tradition of naming their cars which began back in 1951 when they named their car Vantage. The Vantage name was given to their high-performance variant of their standard production car DB2 back then. The Vantage back in 1952 produced an impressive 125 Bhp of peak power while the standard variant produced around 102 Bhp. The Vantage sticker was also first used on the side of the DB5.
Now after almost 7 decades of the first use of the Vantage nameplate Aston Martin Valkyrie propels this uniquely distinctive and lyrical family of model names to the next level. The Valkyrie is the ultimate Aston Martin. The name of the car has been inspired by the ancient mythology but it is equipped with all the modern technologies of the world.
Although no details of the Hypercar is available at this moment but it will have the performance which will be on par with some other LMP1 cars. While the reports also state that Aston Martin could also make a street legal variant of this Hypercar as well in the near future which will also be their flagship offering. The Valkyrie will most probably use the 6.5 Litre V12 unit along with an electric motor. Thus it will actually be powered by a hybrid motor.

This Jaguar combines everything that one looks for in a next generation electric vehicles has to offer
The Jaguar I-Pace Concept attracted a lot of eyeballs at the 2017 Geneva Motor show. This is one car which has redefined our era of automotive engineering; it is the only car which has supercar inspired aesthetics, sports car performance and SUV space, in one electric package.
Now after the unveiling, the British Luxury car maker has added another feather to their crown by driving this concept car on the streets of London. The I-Pace is a very unique car to be put outside in the real world.
The I-Pace concept according to Jaguar represents the next generation of battery electric vehicles. Ian Callum who is the director of the design team, Jaguar and has many accolades to his name said that for him the future of motoring has arrived. If you are amongst those persons who keeps themselves updated with the latest news and information’s of the automotive world will surely know that the Automakers are now shifting towards more environment-friendly cars.
The I-Pace is an electric car which has a range of 500 Kilometres (NEDC cycle) from the 90kWh lithium-ion battery. Charging the car is also quick with 80 percent charge can be completed in just 90 minutes using 50kW DC charging.
The I-Pace is powered by compact electric lightweight motors which together can combine a total power output of 400PS and 700Nm of torque. It has also had the benefits of an all-weather drive with the help of an all-wheel drive system. If we talk about performance, the i-Pace can accelerate from 0-100 km/h mark in just 4 seconds.
Jaguar promises that the I-Pace will be able to deliver the agility, ride comfort and refinement which will set it apart from the other electric cars available in the market right now. It will also be a true blue Jaguar and a real drivers’ car they added.
The Baleno RS gets additional power but actually gets a more frugal petrol unit
Maruti showcased the Baleno RS Concept at the 2016 Auto expo and although this looked identical to the standard Baleno hatchback with fewer exceptions but actually features a more powerful engine under the hood. Maruti already launched the Baleno in India and after a year after of the 2016 Auto Expo, in an attempt to impress the Indian customers who love performance-oriented hatchbacks they now launched the Baleno RS hatchback.
Like we already mentioned above the Baleno RS gets a slightly more powerful engine under the hood and is actually a performance oriented hatch and one of its kind from the stable of Maruti Suzuki. The RS variant is positioned above the existing hatchback and is sold through the Nexa showrooms.
The report suggested that the newest performance-oriented hatchback gets a slightly more powerful 1.0-liter Boosterjet unit. The new engine which also makes its Indian debut promises to deliver an impressive amount of power and torque figures along with an exceptional fuel efficiency figures.

What to expect from the new all terrain conqurer
Mahindra introduced the Thar back in 2010, and since its launch, the vehicle has always attracted the attention of those who loves some serious offroading with their vehicle. Now, this is one machine with ample amount of torque that can take on any terrain with ease. The Thar received its first major facelift back in 2015 and while the demands are slowly fading away because of some potential rivals in this segment. According to some recent reports, Mahindra is all set to introduce the next generation Thar in India.

This car could take on the KWID and the Alto in future
Tata Motors is taking some big steps to promote their future products and platform. They have already tied up with Microsoft for their future infotainment system. Tata Motors and Microsoft India Collaborates To Bring Connected Experience For Their Future Customers
The TAMO Futuro Concept will be the first car which will benefit from this technology platform
Tata Motors and Microsoft has joined hands and announced a strategic agreement to redefine connected and personalized driving experiences for Indian customers. Tata Motors will now benefit from Microsoft’s connected vehicle technologies which work by bringing together artificial intelligence (AI), advanced machine learning, and the Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities on the global hyper-scale Azure cloud.
This new technology, in turn, will actually help in creating a highly personalized, smarter and also safer driving experience across both the digital and real world of the vehicle owners. The first car equipped with all these future technologies will be showcased for the first time Infront of the public at 2017, Geneva Motor show which will commence from March 7th onward.
The completely new Tata Motors user interface will now be equipped with Microsoft’s advanced functionality like navigation, predictive maintenance, telematics and also remote monitoring features.
Commenting on the partnership, Guenter Butschek, CEO & MD, Tata Motors, said, That their aim is to provide innovative and technologically advanced products which can excite their customers. They are bringing Microsoft’s connected vehicle technologies on the Azure intelligent cloud to actually bring the digital life of their customers into their cars they drive daily. The S-Cross facelift looks mean and aggressive
The Indian automotive scenario has been changing drastically in last few years. Indian customers are opening up toward fresh new designs, new niche. The compact SUVs and crossovers have becoming more and more popular day by day in the country like the rest of the world. In 2015 Maruti-Suzuki also tried its luck in the compact crossover segment with the S-Cross.
Now with almost two year after the launch of the model the automaker has developed a facelift version of the S-Cross. Suzuki has showcased the facelifted S-Cross in front of a selected audience in Hungary. As we got a glimpse of the car, it looks absolutely mean compare to the outgoing model. Any SUV lover wants his car to be rugged looking. And the new S-Cross looks exactly so. It can impress with its aggressive styling.
Maruti discontinued the SX4 sedan and launched the S-Cross Crossover in the Indian market. But there is no denying the fact that the S-Cross was not able to leave an impression in the minds of the India Customers. The S-Cross was then completely erased from the mind when Maruti introduced the Vitara Brezza compact SUV which was priced almost in the same range of the Crossover.

The upcoming sportscar will make it into production soon and will be launched here by 2018
Tata Motors have introduced their sub brand TAMO yesterday and also have announced their future mobility solution to be called ’FutuReady’. The Indian Auto Manufacturer even teased their first product which will be unveiled for the first time at the upcoming 87th Geneva Motors show in March 2017. Surprisingly! Their first product under their new sub brand will be a two seater mid-engined sports car concept that the AUto manufacturer will showcase at the Upcoming Motorshow.
The Sportscar concept from Tata Motors is called Futuro internally. Only 250 units of the car will be built by Tata Motors and the good news is that the upcoming Sportscar will be priced in the range of 25 Lakh rupees. The production version of the Future Sporstcar will go on sale in the Indian markets by the year 2018.
Not much detail of the sports car is available at this moment, but it is expected to get a turbocharged 1.2 liter petrol engine which will be capable of producing about 180+ HP of peak power. Although the power figures may not impress many, but the sports car will actually weigh only 800 kilograms. So what does that means is that the upcoming product from Tata Motors will actually have an impressive power to weight ratio.
Now, according to some reports the 2 star mid engine sportscar will take its styling inspiration from the Opel Speedster or (Vauxhall VX220).

Tata Motors today announced their new sub brand- TAMO which is actually a part of their new Passenger Vehicle strategy. This will act as an incubating centre of innovation towards the making of new technologies, business models and partnerships to define future mobility solutions.
This new sub brand will first concentrate on low volume, low investment, model to actually provide fast tracked technologies and concepts. Tata Motors plans to devlop two new platform besides their existing variants under this sub brand. They also plans to develop atleast 7 to 8 passenger vehicles variants from these two platforms. This architecture will also reduce complexity and enable future technologies.
Dr Tim Leverton, President and Head Advanced and Project engineering, Tata Motors said on the occasion that the Auto manufacturer is starting a new era. They are actually planning to find new ways of innovating and experimenting, for that they are scouting for new spaces, technologies and explore new hubs from across the globe. They have even plans to work with start ups in new places.
Speaking on the announcement, Guenter Butschek, MD & CEO, Tata Motors, said, “The success of our transformation journey ‘FutuReady’ is measured by our vision and depends on our ability to deliver on our comprehensive strategies for our business units. Our game plan addresses six themes – topline improvement, cost management, structural improvements, customer centricity, new mobility solutions and organizational effectiveness."
This could be the next generation Maruti Gypsy
Rumours suggest that Maruti might reintroduce the Gypsy in the Indian market in the coming years. According to the latest reports Suzuki might manufacture the next generation Jimny in India. The Jimny was showcased last time at the 2012 Auto Expo and it received quite a positive response from the people. Although there is not much depth in the possibilities right now but the next generation Jimny perhaps might be sold in India as the next generation Gypsy.
For all your information the Gypsy was the long wheelbase version of the Gymny compact SUV. Some of the reports also suggests that the next generation compact SUV will actually be built on the same lightweight platform which also underpins the current Baleno and the Ignis Crossover and hatchback. The next generation SUV will also be exported onto some other International markets from India as well.
