What Just Happened Here! Ford Mustang Received 2 Stars In Euro NCAP Crash Test

This is the flagship offering from Ford for the Indian market!

To everyone’s surprise Ford Mustang actually scored just 2 stars at the recently conducted Euro NCAP crash test. This also happens to be the lowest score received by a renowned manufacturer since the year 2008.

The Mustang Coupe scored really badly at the frontal offset test, while the dummies get good protection of the knees and femurs while later after further analysis it was revealed that the driver’s head had ’bottomed out’ the airbag which means that the airbag did not provided adequate space pressure to the airbag thus resulting the dummies head hitting the steering wheel, while the side passengers head collided with the dashboard all because of the insufficient inflation of the dashboard. This is the reason why the scores of the front crash were penalized. The front passenger’s protection was good but the chest protection was adequate in full width rigid barrier test. The rear seat passengers on the other hand slipped under the lap portion of the seatbelt thus compromising on the safety of e knee, femur and pelvis body region thus resulting in weak score.

The Tests on the front seats and head restraints also demonstrated a marginal level of protection against any whiplash injury during the event of a rear-end collision. The current generation which is one sale is also not equipped with an autonomous emergency braking (AEB). The 10 year old dummy which sat on the booster cushion which gave the occupant limited rear space. In the frontal offset test protection of the 10 year old dummy was rated as the least adequate. In the side barrier test the safety ratings of the dummy was good but the head protection was not adequate.

Ford Mustang Spotted In India, Launch Eminent (spy shots)

When Ford reported that the new generation Mustang will be made available with a right hand drive as well besides Left hand drive we were quite surprised but also were almost certain that there was a fair chance of it being launched in the Indian market as well along with some other right hand drive markets including UK.

Now these exclusive spyshots gives us a clear indication that the Mustang will definitely make it to the Indian market and people can get a taste of this iconic American Muscle car soon. According to Gaadi.com these images were shot at the ARAI testing facility in Pune and it has been there to finish up the pre launch formalities. If everything goes according to the plan Ford will be launching the new Mustang during Diwali 2015.

The Mustang GT that you are seeing in this image can pack a lot punch from the 5.0 L V8 unit under its hood; this engine produces an impressive 435 hp at 6,500 rpm and a mind boggling 528 Nm of torque at 4,250 rpm. This particular engine is offered with a 6 speed manual transmission as standard which sends all those power to the rear wheels but this particular car (that you are seeing in these images) gets the 6-speed SelectShift automatic with paddle shifters placed behind the steering wheel. This engine can help this Muscle car sprint from 0-100 km/h mark in just 4.5 seconds Impressive! We say.

Apart from this engine Ford also offers a 3.7-liter Ti-VCT V6 unit and a 2.3-liter GTDI four-cylinder EcoBoost engine as well in the U.S market. This beauty also uses a double-ball-joint MacPherson strut with stabilizer bar at the front and an independent suspension setup for its rear which will provide a stable and comfortable ride as well.

"Elanor" of "Gone In 60 Seconds" fame Up For Auction

Are you a Nicholas Cage fan? if not then you certainly are an Angelina Jolie fan for sure. If you’re getting what I am trying to say, you would probably be thinking about the movie, ‘Gone in sixty seconds’. Yes, we’re talking of this movie ‘Gone in sixty seconds’ but we’re sort of more interested in their cars the actors drove in that particular movie.

There were three cars that were used by the separate actors in that movie. one amongst them in particular that caught our attention was the modified and superhot Ford Mustang Eleanor. The 1967 Ford Mustang, is the seventh of the 11 ‘Eleanor’ cars built by Cinema Vehicle Services. It definitely comes with features that will sway your heart, the car borrows design penned by one the greatest designers of all time, Steve Stanford. Modifications to the Elanor included an opened grille with horizontal bars, some scoops of the 1967 Shelby with trim tabs and twin driving lights, dual racing stripes, upper and lower side scoops, quick-fill fuel tank, thunderbird style tail lights, and an integrated rear spoiler.

Now the reason we are talking about this car is because, on December 12, the Elanor would be up for auction. The car features a 352 cubic inch Ford Racing crate powered with a super-efficient fuel pump and 4 barrel carburetor (Holley 700 CFM). This four speed car is air conditioned with a Lecarra steering and a stylish tachometer from Auto Meter and two-tone silver and charcoal 17-inch hairbrand styled Schmidt wheels. A New And Innovative Airbag Has Been Designed By Ford For 2015 Mustang

A New And Innovative Airbag Has Been Designed By Ford For 2015 Mustang

Inclusion of safety features in the cars have become a very important factor with the increasing number of accidents on road and that is the reason why the safety systems in vehicles have evolved a lot more in the past few years. Ford too has jumped into the bandwagon and has developed a new and innovative inflatable airbag design with knee airbag protection for its 2015 Mustang. This innovative safety technology has never been seen before in any other cars and addition of this will increase the safety of the passengers to a whole new level.

How does it work?

In this technology, an injection-molded plastic bladder is placed sandwiched in between the inner and outer glove box door panels. When any vehicle impact is detected by the crash sensor system and it is classified, an inflator fills the bladder with air which extends the entire glove box outer door panel toward the front passenger’s legs. Once deployed, the outer door helps to provide cushioning in a manner similar to a traditional knee airbag thus saving the knee of the passenger from the anticipated crash. As the glove box-integrated airbag extends straight out from the instrument panel, it doesn’t have to travel as far as a conventional airbag, which deploys toward the floor before curving upward.

K. Sculptor Robin Bark Creates 50 Years Limited Edition Pieces Of Ford Mustang

K. Sculptor Robin Bark Creates 50 Years Limited Edition Pieces Of Ford Mustang

To mark the 50 years of Ford Mustang, UK based artist Robin Bark has been given a license by Ford to create limited-edition Ford Mustang collectible sculpture. Only 500 sculptures will be made of the 1965 Ford Mustang fastback and each of the pieces will be signed by the artist himself which will be placed in a commemorative wood box. A total of 10 pieces shall be manufactured in each batch which will measure 10inches (18cm) in length and will weigh more than a kilogram. The materials which will be used to build this sculpture are sand cast in marine grade aluminum and finally it shall end with a hand polish in an East Sussex-based studio.

Initially a clay model will be made which will then get the form of resin version, after which the polishing will be done to add the contours to the model. Robin Bark is well equipped in arts and has experience in industrial design, graphic design ceramics and metalwork. He also specializes in developing a series of cast-aluminum sculptures of classic motorbikes and sports cars. About this project, Bark says that, “Mustang is a very different shape from the earlier cars I had done, which were more classically streamlined,” he said. “I look for what the designers were trying to achieve with shapes, and try to capture the essence of the car while also imparting a sense of motion to a static object.”

This limited edition sculptures will be available through the artist’s website:
