The Figo S gets plenty of cosmetic updates but no mechanical updates under the hood

Ford launched the new generation, Figo, back in 2015 which replaced the old Figo in India. Offered with a whole new platform and three drivetrain options which include two petrol and a single diesel engine option. The new generation Figo became a hit amongst the crowd because it offered plenty within the package infact this is the only small hatchback which also provides a total of 6 airbags for the safety of the passengers inside.

According to the recent report, Ford Figo is all set to get a Sports edition which will most probably be termed Figo S. The new S
sports variant will launch later this month, the Figo S will be based on the top end Titanium Plus variant. The Figo S won’t get any mechanical changes though but expect it to feature plenty of cosmetic updates to both its exterior as well as interior.

Now, like we already did mention before the Figo Sport S edition will be based on the top end Titanium Plus trim and will get few significant changes on its exterior. The biggest change, however, comes in the form of new 15-inch alloy wheels finished in Black. The front grille also will be finished in Black color, while the headlamps will also get smoked headlights as well. The side profile of the hatchback gets an ORVM’s finished in Black and like we said the side profile also gets bigger 15-inch alloy wheels as well. The S variant will also get a dual tone exterior body colour option with a Black finished roof as well. Towards the rear profile, this special edition Sports variant will get an integrated roof spoiler which is not available with other options. Lastly, to differentiate the Sports variant from the other trim levels, it will also get a Sports badge as well towards the rear profile.

There are no images of the interior available yet but just like the exterior expect the interior too to get few cosmetic updates as well which will come in the form of new seat upholstery with the Sports badging. The steering wheel and the gear knob might also get some leather wrapping as well with contrast stitching. The interior might also get sports badge on door sills and lastly new mat with the sports badge logo on it.

Regarding equipments, the Figo Sports Edition will get all the equipment that you will find in the Titanium Plus trim which includes

- 4 speakers
- 12 V power point at the front
- Driver seat height adjustment
- Single tone environment
- Automatic Air Conditioner
- Power windows towards the front and rear


The Ford Figo S will be offered with both 1.5 Litre Petrol and diesel engine options. We are pretty sure that Ford won’t be making any changes to the drivetrain and thus the 1.5 Litre, 4 Cylinder unit capable of producing about 110.5 bhp of peak power at 6300 rpm and 136 Nm of peak torque at 4250 rpm. This engine is offered only with the six-speed automatic transmission. The diesel drivetrain on the hand gets the 1.5 Litre, 4 Cylinder unit which produces about 98.6 bhp of peak power at 3750 rpm and 215 Nm of torque in between 1750-3000 rpm. This engine is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission as well.

Expect the fuel efficiency figures of the upcoming variant to remain the same as there are no mechanical changes under the hood. The ARAI rated Petrol fuel efficiency figures is rated at 17 KMPL, while the diesel variant ARAI rated fuel efficiency figures is rated at 25.83 KMPL.

The Ford Figo Titanium+ trim gets plenty of safety features for its occupants which include ABS, EBD, ESP, TCS and HLA along with passenger airbag. The side and curtain airbags is available as an option. Expect this safety features to be carried over to the Sports variant as well.


The Ford Figo S variant will set you back INR. 30-50 thousand more than the top end Titanium Plus trims. The prices for the standard Titanium Petrol trim starts at INR. 7, 73, 500 while the prices for the 1.5 Liter Diesel Titanium plus trim starts at INR. 7, 25, 600 (ex-showroom).


Expect the new Sports Variant to be launched towards the end of the month of April 2017. This hatchback won’t get any special treatment under the hood except some cosmetic upgrades to the exterior as well interior.
