Ford Endeavour

The Mid-Size sporty utility segment of India may not be crowded but it surely has some worthy competitors in it take Ford for instance who is one of the major players of this game launched their Endeavour SUV almost 10 years ago in India which really became popular amongst the crowd initially because of its big brawny size, spacious and practical interiors and those powerful diesel engines under the hood. As time passed its fame and glory started to fade away, now there can actually be two major reasons behind it, the Japanese manufacturer Toyota introduced their Fortuner SUV already in this segment which also possessed almost the same characteristics that the other SUV had or with the introduction of more premium entry level vehicles from renowned manufacturers like Audi, BMW and Mercedes their customers have actually moved to a totally different segment.

After Ford saw the falling sales figures there were actually two things that Ford could have done, either they could completely let go or try to revive the Endeavour SUV which is definitely a worthy vehicle in this segment.

During August last year the Blue oval showcased an Everest Concept (Endeavour is also known as Everest in other International markets) SUV in Australia which actually indicated that their next generation Endeavour SUV will be coming soon and look exactly the same as the concept because Ford has a reputation of not messing too much with the overall styling of the concept when they turn it into a final production ready vehicle, we have seen that in time of the Ford Ecosport too.

Ford recently unveiled their production ready Endeavour and believe it or not the production variant looks exactly the same as the Everest concept which was showcased a year ago in Australia. Ford claims that their new Everest SUV seamlessly blends rugged offroad capability with exceptional ride quality and also dynamic handling, it also gets a new sculpted chiseled exterior styling along with many technological updates which makes it an all rounder. The new SUV will be launched on January 15th 2016 and it will made available with 2.2 Litre diesel as well as a powerful 3.2 Litre diesel paired either to a manual or automatic transmission.

Ford Endeavour Will Now Be Available In Three Variants Only

both the 2.2 and the 3.2 Litre diesel engines are still on offer

Ford has decided to discontinue some trims levels from their Endeavour SUV lineup because of some unknown reason. Now their brawny and large seven-seater SUV is available with a total three trim levels.

The trim levels on offer currently include the entry-level Trend which is available only in two-wheel drive guise, while the mid Titanium trim too is also available in two-wheel drive guise. The top end fully loaded Titanium trim on offer is available only in the four-wheel-drive guise. The prices of the Trend trim starts from INR. 25,49,000 while the fully loaded top end Titanium trim is priced at INR. 31,50,000. The mid Titanium trim priced at INR. 28,62,000.

Coming to the drivetrains while the Trend and Titanium trims are available with the two-wheel drive are available with the 2.2 Litre diesel unit. The top end Titanium 4X4 variant gets the more powerful 3.2 Litre unit only.

It’s already been a year that Ford has introduced the new generation SUV in India and what we believe is the low sales volume which has forced Ford to take the decision of discontinuing some variants which were earlier on offer.

The Ford Endeavour is the direct rival of the Toyota Fortuner and the recently launched Isuzu MU-X in the Indian market. We also came to know recently that Ford has already begun testing the facelift Endeavour in some International markets already. Expect the facelift SUV to be unveiled sometime towards the year 2018.

Video: New Ford Everest (New-Gen Endeavour) Teased

The Ford Endeavour is one mighty SUV which has been in here both the Indian as well as the International market for quite some time now and Ford too knows about that well and that is the reason why the American auto giant is all set to launch the new generation Ford Endeavour (aka Everest SUV). The next-gen SUV will be will be unveiled in China on 13th of November 2014, and as the unveiling date is approaching Ford has released its first official teaser video and image of the upcoming SUV to attract the attention of the people.

We never actually have though Endeavour as a hardcore offroader, but the new-gen SUV with its new and improved ladder frame chassis surely will enhance its off the tarmac capability for sure beside that Ford will also equip the next-gen Endeavour with many interesting offroading tools as well like an advanced Terrain response system which is capable of automatically adjusting the engine torque, traction control and four wheel drive system of the SUV which will provide a better offroading experience to the person driving the vehicle.

The upcoming SUV looks like that it will be based on Ford’s new design philosophy and definitely looks similar to the concept which was showcased earlier this year. The production version too seemed to retain the same hexagonal shaped front grille and large projector headlamp unit. Expect a completely new and refreshed cabin too inside the SUV which will focus mostly on occupants comfort. Internationally the new SUV will be getting two new diesel engines under the hood but unfortunately the Indian variant will most probably retain the existing 2.5 litre and 3.0 litre diesel engines under the hood.

2014 Ford Endeavour

2014 Ford Endeavour

Ford Endeavour was always a popular SUV since it was first launched in the Indian market way back in the year 2003. When we talk about any Ford SUVs the first images that come to our mind are huge bulky beast with their anywhere going capability. However its biggest competitor in the Indian market is another huge SUV from the Japanese manufacturer Toyota called the Fortuner. Both these SUV’s dominated the midsized SUV market till now and quite frankly people look for no other options although there are few other available when they want to buy any SUV in this segment.

Ford Endeavour recently got a facelift in the Indian market and although Ford has not given it a complete makeover though still it features some new cosmetic upgrades which we thought worth mentioning. Unfortunately Ford hasn’t made any changes to the Endeavour mechanically and thus it is still powered by the 16-valve Duratorq TDCi powertrain which we must admit delivers an impressive amount of power and torque output which makes this one strong SUV to compete with.

So without wasting any more time let us give you all the details of this new SUV

Next-gen Ford Endeavour test mule spotted, again

Next-gen Ford Endeavour test mule spotted, again

The next big launch from Ford will come in the form of the next generation Endeavour. Also known as the Ford Everest, the SUV is expected to go on sale next year and will feature some interesting off-road systems.

Ford Australia will build the Everest in Thailand before shipping them over. We in India, on the other hand will get a locally built Endeavour. According to Go Auto, the next generation Endeavour will use a Land Rover-like electronic terrain response system. This will allow drivers an intuitive access to the vehicles immense capabilities both on and off the tarmac.

Based on the Everest Concept, the first pre-production mules do not look much different. Also, powering the new Endeavour would be the same range of diesel engines coupled with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Ford will also offer an automatic transmission on a higher-spec variant.

Meanwhile, the current Ford Endeavour is at the end of its life cycle and making things even worse for them is the duo of Toyota and Hyundai. Toyota’s Fortuner is the segment leader, while Hyundai has recently updated the Santa Fe. Both these SUVs are extremely capable off-road and offer spacious and premium interiors.

Although Ford is yet to make an official announcement on the upcoming Endeavour, but one can expect it to be priced in the same range as the Fortuner and Santa Fe.

Next-gen Ford Endeavour caught testing in the snow

Next-gen Ford Endeavour caught testing in the snow

We were expecting Ford to showcase the next generation Ford Endeavour at the recently concluded 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. That did not happen as we were left guessing right till the last moment.

Apparently, Ford is still performing some fine tuning on the vehicle which could be launched in the months to come. As we know, the Endeavour is being sold in other Asian countries as the Ford Everest and is based on the Ford Ranger pick up which is popular in Australia.

While, there isn’t much information available about the new Ford Endeavour, we expect the Indian model to get a more economical diesel engine coupled with an automatic gearbox. All-wheel drive has been a forte of the Endeavour and will feature on the new model as well.

The exterior of SUV has been redesigned quite a lot without diluting its butch looks. These images show a test mule taking on extreme conditions. Similar prototypes have been spotted earlier which leads us to believe that the final design could be based on these prototype vehicles albeit with a few changes. A few design cues would come from the 2014 Endeavour Concept.

2014 Delhi Auto Expo: Ford to make global announcement on Feb 3, 2014

2014 Delhi Auto Expo: Ford to make global announcement on Feb 3, 2014

Back in the year 2012, Ford
conducted a gala press conference where in they unveiled the brand new EcoSport compact SUV. It also marked the beginning of a whole new line-up of Ford products for India and the South-East Asian region in general.

Since, the global unveiling of the Ford EcoSport, the company brought us the facelift Figo hatchback. On the extreme end of their portfolio, the Ford Endeavour was in serious need of an upgrade and this year we could see it rolling out.

Ford India’s press conference on February 3rd, 2014 should spread some light on their plans for next few years. The Endeavour SUV could top the agenda as its sister product called the Ford Ranger pickup is already on sale in other parts of the world.

Ford is set to make a "global announcement" during the press conference that will be held on the sidelines of the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. It may sound a bit too optimistic, but how about the 2015 Ford Mustang being offered in India? Excited?

2014 Ford Endeavour Concept

2014 Ford Endeavour Concept

Days after a couple of images were leaked online, the Blue Oval has finally decided to spill the beans and unveil the new Australian based Everest Concept online.

So, why is it important to us?

Simply because the next gen Ford Endeavour, which is very much due for an update, is all set to be based on this very concept. If its design stays true to the concept, the Endeavour will finally blend in with new line-up of Ford on offer. This should send a chill down the spine of its main rival, the Toyota Fortuner, the dominating car of the segment.

At the mere sight of the image above, one can easily speculate that it sports a much different profile as compared to the boxy profile of the current gen. From the inverted trapezoidal grille to the wraparound rear windshield, the whole concept wreaks of design elements from its little brother.

Thankfully however, it doesn’t look like a bloated Ecosport as we would’ve imagined. The muscular wheel arches and the sharp crease that tears through the side profile give it a look of its own. Weirdly though, it kind-of looks like an amalgam of the Ecosport and the Toyota Fortuner.

Anything about the interior? If it has to follow old norms, the car will have a 3rd row seat at the back and keep the tech level down to make the price competitive. Other than that, we can speculate Ford to employ much better materials to make the cabin feel like a premium SUV.

Being a concept, nothing is official in the powertrain department. But,since the Endeavour has always been loosely based on the Ranger pickup, we can expect the 4-cylinder, 2.2-litre diesel motor with full time 4WD being offered from the current Ford Ranger.

Details on the next-gen Endeavour are sketchy as of now, but to have a closer look at this concept, the IAAF is your only ticket. Nevertheless, This is one concept we’re looking forward to seeing land on our shores, given the fact that the 4 year old, current Endeavour is struggling to keep pace with the sales figures of its Japanese rival.

If it’s true that your choice of automobile tells a lot about you as a person, then you don’t want to be seen driving a Tata Indica V2. Its agricultural, boring and downright too rudimentary a hatch. The Endeavour SUV has been a success in India because of its road presence, size and versatility. Interest in the Endeavour continues as the SUV has improved since it was first launched.
