2016 Fiat Linea 125s

Apart from the Fiat competizione, the Abarth Punto and the Urban Cross there was one more car which caught lots of attention at Fiat pavilion of the 2016 Auto expo and this was the new Linea 125s. Now the Linea 125s is based on the same Linea sedan which was actually launched way back in the year 2009 in India and honestly this car has started aging now. Perhaps Fiat wants to give this car a new lease of life until they launch a replacement for the Linea sedan.

Coming to the 125s, this variant of the Linea actually does not get a lot of cosmetic upgrades but what it gets instead is this interesting 1.4 litre T-Jet petrol unit under the hood of the sedan. Now you must be wondering what is so special about this new 1.4 litre T-Jet petrol motor, so for your information this is actually the same engine which powers the newly launched more aggressive and sportier Punto Abarth and the 595 Competizione.

2016 New Delhi Auto Expo: Fiat’s mantra was "Less is more"

Fiat didn’t showcase a lot of models at the recently concluded 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo, but they surely showcased some stunning and impressive models. As it seems, their mantra for the Auto Expo 2016 was “Less is more”. The centre of attraction at the Fiat pavilion was Fiat Avventura Urban Cross, which looked pretty damn good. The Avventura Urban Cross will be launched in Indian market later in 2016. Accompanying the car was an all new Linea named as Linea 125s. It will also be launched later this year. There was a Fiat Punto Pure which was launched recently. They also showcased hot hatchbacks like Abarth Punto and Abarth 595 Competizione, which were also at the centre of attraction. Apart from this FCA owned Jeep entered the Indian market officially by launching their products like Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Grand Cherokee and a performance oriented model Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT.

2016 Fiat Linea Abarth

2016 Fiat Linea Abarth

Fiat launched the Linea sedan in India couple of years ago and it was the flagship product which was on offer from the Italian auto maker until they introduced the 595 Competizione last year. The Linea was positioned to take on the likes of the Hyundai Verna and Honda City; unfortunately the product never really took off in the Indian market. Recently rumors are also that Fiat has even plans to replace the now ageing Linea with a new product in the coming years.

Recently to our surprise a performance oriented variant of the Linea powered by Abarth was spotted by TeamBHP which actually gave us all a hint that perhaps Fiat is also planning to add an Abarth powered Linea too in the Indian market. The Italian carmaker already has introduced two new products under the powered by Abarth brand including the Punto and the Avventura which gets the 1.4 Litre, 4 cylinder Turbo Jet engine. Apart from the engine both the Avventura and Punto received few cosmetic upgrades as well including new Abarth badges and an impressive 16 inch scorpion wheels.

Coming to Linea Abarth, Fiat is also planning to give their existing Linea the same treatment and just like we already mentioned above Team BHP was able to spot the car at the Fiat’s Ranjangaon factory. There is a fair chance that Fiat might showcase or even launch this low cost performance oriented sedan at the upcoming 2016 Auto expo in New Delhi.

Fiat Planning To Introduce The Abarth Linea Sedan In India Too

Fiat Planning To Introduce The Abarth Linea Sedan In India Too

Fiat has definitely planned something big for the Indian market and it is quite clearly evident from their recent actions and the launches. After introducing the 595 Competizione couple of months ago they will now be launching the Abarth powered Punto Evo as well as the Abarth Avventura soon in India. Now according to the recent reports, Fiat is also actually planning to introduce a high performance variant of their only midsize sedan Linea as well.

The Italian auto manufacturer is overwhelmed by the response they received from the Abarth Punto and thus decided to introduce one more car which will get this Abarth treatment to the lineup. As far as the reports suggest the Abarth Linea will get the same T-Jet Turbo unit producing 143 Bhp of peak power which actually powers the Abarth Punto Evo, but apart from the engine update the new Abarth Linea will likely also get some other mechanical upgrades as well.

The Abarth Linea will get rear disc brakes, stiffened suspension setup just like Abarth Punto received. While the ride height of the sedan will also be lowered by almost 20 mm, the other upgrades are still unknown yet but it will definitely get some exterior and interior styling upgrades as well which also include new Abarth badges.

The Linea has definitely not collected the sales numbers as Fiat would have expected, while its rivals are popular amongst the buyers the Linea struggled to keep up with its competition. Hopefully the Abarth badge will help the Linea to get some attention. We also expect it to be priced quite aggressively to get too once it is launched here in India.

2015 Fiat Linea Elegante

2015 Fiat Linea Elegante

Italian automobile giant Fiat’s mid-sized sedan Linea was launched in India in 2009. After that Fiat brought a few upgraded versions in our Indian market, but with the growing fleet of mid-sized sedans from various auto makers ultimately Linea has become a bit dated. Although Fiat Linea still looks good and impressive, but some serious changes are due to the car; no doubt about that.

Recently in an attempt to revive the popularity of Linea Fiat has brought an upgraded and limited version of this car, named as Linea Elegante (Read it here). This upgraded limited version comes with revamped look and better style statement. Fiat made several changes to the exterior and inside the cabin of top end variant to give this new Linea Elegante a stylish look, but the mechanism stays intact. So, the new Linea Elegante doesn’t promise any performance upgrade, just better style and new look.

Fiat To Replace Linea In India With A New Sedan

Fiat To Replace Linea In India With A New Sedan

Fiat Linea was not actually a very successful model and hardly sells more than 200 units per month but it has been here in the Indian market for a long time now, so the Italian Auto manufacturer is actually planning for its retirement.

Although this is not made official yet but Fiat has thought of some possible replacement for their Linea sedan, the first replacement probably will be the production version of the Aegea which was showcased at the 2015, Istanbul Motor show held in May. While the second option in hand is the Grand Siena sedan which is sold in the markets of Brazil and is one popular offering there.

The Aegea concept is definitely one attractive looking concept and attracted lot of attention at the show but the only problem with this sedan is that it is still under development and Fiat has actually developed this car only for the left hand drive markets of the world. Now Fiat will have to put in lot of effort behind developing a RHD model for this concept car which will not only take time but also lot of investment as well. India also happens to be their only RHD car market and the Linea sedan also sells in less numbers and there is no surety that launching the new sedan will bring more customers.

Fiat To Introduce A New Variant Of Linea

Fiat To Introduce A New Variant Of Linea

Fiat launched the Linea couple of years ago and it was not able to leave any impact in the Indian market as this Italian auto manufacturer would have expected. Recently it was given some cosmetic upgrades as well, which although improved the overall appearance but did not cause any sort of impact to its overall sales. So in order to make this product work, Fiat will be launching a new variant of this sedan which will be called the Linea Elegante.

This will be a limited edition model and will obviously sit on top of the Linea lineup. Take a look at this clear spyshots and you will notice that the Linea Elegante, received a host of cosmetic upgrades on its exterior, the updates include a new body kit, the front bumpers gets some extra oomph with the new addition. Towards the side profile the side skirts adds some more appeal; you can also notice the addition of new graphics on the shoulder line. The Elegante variant also gets new set of alloy wheels as well which are taken from the newly introduced Punto Evo facelift. What we also liked about the exterior styling are the Black roof and also the small rear spoiler, which helps add the sporty feel to the motorcycle.

The Linea Elegante not only gets some exterior updates but the interior too gets some impressive updates as well, which actually comes in the form of a new and updated touchscreen infotainment system. Although the rest of the interiors were not clicked but we also do feel that this special edition car will get new seat upholstery as well.

2014 Ford Fiesta VS Its Rivals

2014 Ford Fiesta VS Its Rivals

Ford launched the 2014 Fiesta in order to get their hand on the under 10 Lakh sedan segment of India. The new Fiesta was launched only with a diesel engine option and thus it faces some tough competition from other segment rivals namely the Fiat Linea, Hyundai Verrna the popular Honda City and the Volkswagen vento and its cousin the Skoda Rapid.

In terms of looks Ford has made minor but striking changes to the Fiesta’s exterior and as a result the facelift Fiesta looks more aggressive and modern in every sense. While talking about its rivals exterior styling, all of them surely are not beauty pageant winners but when it comes to impressing the crowd these sedans does that job pretty well, especially Hyundai with its new Fludic sculpture and Fiat Linea with its classy looks.

As far as their interior comfort are concerned we have heard in the past that Fiesta’s rear seat may not be the most comfortable space for spending time because it lacks sufficient leg room and the seats in particular lacks underthigh support unfortunately the new Fiesta rear seats are carried over from its predecessor and as a result of that it still remains perhaps the most uncomfortable amongst its segment. But then the new Fiesta definitely does score with its interior quality of materials, finish and also the equipment list.

There are plenty more information available for you in this comparison review so go through them and hopefully it will clear the doubts of all those readers who want to get their hands on a sedan priced well under the INR 10 lakh bracket.

Rival Comparison: Fiat Linea vs Honda City, Hyundai Verna

Rival Comparison: Fiat Linea vs Honda City, Hyundai Verna

The new Fiat Linea has been launched. When I say new, it actually is just a facelift. However, the Linea is one of the most sought after models among those who know their cars well. Still, the car has faced lackluster public interest in the past. Fiat would be hoping to sell more of these with a redesigned exterior as well as interior.

The new Fiat Linea range starts at INR 6.99 lakh ex-showroom. Keeping it company are two of the biggest names in the business. On one hand you have the super refined Honda City, while on the other you’ve got the value-for-money Hyundai Verna.

The Honda City has just been given total makeover. In fact, this is the all-new Honda City or the next generation of popular sedan, to put it in a better way. The Hyundai Verna had taken charge of the segment in the past few months. That said, things have started to shift in the favor of the Honda City once again.

Sales of the of Honda City have gained momentum. The Japanese brand registered has maintained their lead over the Hyundai for the last two months. Will Fiat with their new Linea be able to cause at least some panic in this segment? Or, will this prove to be yet another bad day in office for the Italian brand, only time will tell. Meanwhile, let’s see what the new Linea has to offer.

Fiat Punto, 500 Abarth, Avventura to be launched in India by December 2014

Fiat Punto, 500 Abarth, Avventura to be launched in India by December 2014

Fiat India has announced exciting new car launches for the Indian market. As many has four new products will be added to Fiat India’s portfolio by the year end, according to company sources.

The extended line up will include the new Punto and the Avventura compact crossover. Fiatalso plans to launch the 500 Abarth at a later date. The fourth car being the new Linea which was launched today.

The Italian brand has had to face some tough times in recent years. All of it is now history as the legendary marque focuses on the future of automobiles in India. The Punto and the Linea will spearhead their offensive in the entry-level mid-size segment with the Linea locking horns with the Honda City and Volkswagen Vento to name a few.

A new segment has emerged in recent times that has gained popularity among the masses. It is the compact SUV segment where brands like the Ford EcoSport have been quite successful. Fiat will soon enter the fray with the Avventura crossover. The car was showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo and we loved it.

The Punto based crossover does look interesting compared to the extremely awkward Etios cross which will be one of their main rivals. That said, the premium segment will see a brand new product being launched. The Fiat 500 Abarth will soon be on sale here in India. This is the sportier version of the standard 500 which is already being sold here.

2014 Fiat Linea

2014 Fiat Linea

The Italian carmaker Fiat launched the Linea midsized saloon which was based on the Grande Punto platform in the year 2007; it was a replacement for the small family car from Fiat called Marea. The Marea was offered in various shapes and forms in Countries like Italy, Turkey and Brazil.

Before coming to India Linea was made available in many other Countries like Turkey and Brazil. It was launched in India in the year 2009 with 2 engine options which included the 1.4 Liter Petrol engine and a 1.3 Liter Multijet diesel engine which generated 90 Ps and 93 Ps of maximum power simultaneously. Fiat didn’t disappointed the Indian people and introduced the more powerful 1.4 L T-JET engine which generated an impressive 114 Ps of maximum power later in the year 2010 but still somehow all those strategies didn’t work here in India for Fiat and thus the Linea failed to win Indian hearts.

Although the facelifted Linea was launched in Turkey 2 years ago, Fiat showcased the new Linea after almost 2 years at the 2014 Auto Expo which was held in Delhi in the month of February. Look at it for once and you will find many changes made both to its exterior as well interior which will definitely leave you impressed and you will forget the fact that this is only a facelift and not a new car. Linea was always a good looking sedan with impressive proportion and comfortable interiors; it also has a long impressive equipment list.

Quiet honestly in the recent years we saw many midsized sedans from different manufacturers entered our Indian market which were better looking than the Linea and also offered many interesting features and engine options thus the Linea looked bit dated and boring but this new facelifted version definitely looks promising so without wasting any more time lets us find out more details about this new car.

Fiat Linea Facelift Launch set for March 2014?

Fiat Linea Facelift Launch set for March 2014?

Sources close to Overdrive reveal that the new facelift Fiat Linea will be launched during the first week of March 2014. The company unveiled the new Linea at the recently concluded 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.

The Linea has been quite a success for Fiat alongside the Punto hatchback. They decided to tie-up with Tata Motors in order to gain access to the Indian car maker’s pan-India sales and service network. Sadly, that did not work out for Fiat and hence they decided to split.

Now, in the wake of their sore relationship with Tata Motors, Fiat plans to take an aggressive product deployment strategy starting with the new Linea. The Linea being a popular product among their rather small line up, they expect to sell a decent number of Linea sedans by the year end.

The mid-size segment is probably the second most exciting market populated by world class brands like Volkswagen, Honda and Hyundai, to name a few. Honda recently launched the new City, while Volkswagen has the Vento. The Hyundai Verna too has been performing well.

How will the Fiat Linea facelift fare against the competition? Will the Indian buyer opt for a Linea over a Honda City of Hyundai Verna?

2013 Fiat Linea Classic

2013 Fiat Linea Classic

Less is good, right? Fiat thinks so, which is why they’ve just launched the Fiat Linea Classic in New Delhi. For those who’ve always wanted to own Linea but weren’t ready to pay Rs 7.12 Lakh , well, Fiat has answered your prayers with the Linea Classic.

Starting at Rs 5.99 Lakh, Fiat has gone way too aggressive with the pricing of the sensational sedan. Design wise, it looks identical to any Fiat Linea that you’d normally spot on the road, though the "Classic" badge at the rear is a dead giveaway. Looking around the Classic, one can easily spot the consequences of the aggressive pricing. Like for example, the beautiful 15-inch alloy rims are now replaced with steel rims with wheel covers, fog lights chrome inserts. Step inside and you’ll easily come to know that your money was spent on a Linea Classic. In the name cost cutting Fiat has ditched the automatic climate control, steering mounted audio controls, Blue & Me, driver airbag, front armrest, and electrically controlled wing mirrors. The interior is now black, similar to the theme in the Grande Punto.

Under the hood, the Fiat Linea Classic comes with a less-powerful 1.3-liter MultiJet diesel that produces 75-horsepower. Fiat has lowered costs here by replacing the VGT (Variable Geometry Turbo) in favor of a fixed geometry one. The petrol on the other hand with is the same 1.4-liter motor that produces an unaltered 88-horsepower.

The Classic will be available in three sub-variants

Fiat Linea Classic 1.4-liter Petrol – INR 5.99 lakhs Fiat Linea Classic 1.3-liter Diesel – INR 6.95 lakhs Fiat Linea Classic Plus 1.3-liter Diesel – INR 7.50 lakhs

Things are looking good for the Linea range as the Classic’s will attract more customers than the other variants have before. For now, the Linea Classic is "Longest car in the price segment", which happens to be the trump card that Fiat is holding.

We’ll update the review with the actual pictures of the Linea Classic. Stay tuned.

2013 Fiat Linea. Launched in Turkey. India bound?

Fiat India needs to get its act together. There have been no launches since the Punto and the Linea were launched in 2009. Earlier this year before the Auto Expo the manufacturer did launch mildly refreshed versions of the Punto and the Linea but for some reason the Indian market didn’t get the styling changes that were shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2011. We had reported earlier that Fiat would be launching the facelift version of the Linea in the Turkish market and the 2013 version of the Linea which is due in the Indian market has now been launched in Turkey. Fiat would be possibly launching the new Linea in India next year as the manufacturer now prepares itself to go solo in the Indian market after calling off its arrangement with Tata. It was incidentally in Turkey in 2007 that Fiat first launched the Linea internationally.

Fiat earlier this year did make some changes to the Linea but they were just not enough to add life into the sedan. Though the Linea now does boost of some first in segment features like automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers, the customer would have got attracted towards more significant changes to the exteriors and an improvement to the build quality and finish of the interiors. The Linea was launched in India in 2009 but after the initial success this gorgeous Italian sedan couldn’t keep up with the competition. Fiat now has launched a facelift version of the Linea in Turkey and we expect this sedan to make it into India in 2013. To improve the perception of its cars Fiat recently launched the Fiat Caffe in New Delhi and India will be the first country to have 20 Fiat Caffe outlets.

2009 Fiat Linea

2009 Fiat Linea

Despite Fiat’s strong association with India, and given the fact that not till long ago Fiat was synonymous with motoring in our country, the Italian manufacturer was just not significant enough. The Palio was a generation too old and it was only after the launch of the Grande Punto and the Linea that Fiat was brought back into prominence. The advertising campaigns pitched the Linea as a luxurious sedan with looks to die for, and the sedan did receive reasonably good success. Earlier this year in an attempt to revive sales and bring the Linea back into prominence, Fiat added a turbo to the 1.4-litre petrol engine making the Linea the only turbo charged petrol sedan in this price segment. With prices starting from Rs 6,51,684to Rs9,06,437 for the petrol variant and Rs7,47,706 to Rs8,79,737 for the diesel variant ex-showroom New Delhi, is there more to the Linea than just its drop dead gorgeous looks?
