Fiat and Jeep pavilion at the biennial automotive event was among the most visited stalls.
Now before Fiat and their subsidiary brands launch the exciting products in Indian market in 2016, let’s take a look at the Fiat products.
What is your choice?
Fiat Punto might not favourite for everyone, but certainly this car has a large fanbase in India. Globally Fiat sells a wide range of models which are basically based on the Fiat 500. In India Fiat is doing almost the same job with the Punto. Yes, if you take a close look at the Fiat India line up, you will find they are selling different types of Puntos in the country. Well, that’s not a bad thing at all. Here we will give you a detailed look at the Puntos Fiat is selling in Indian market. Take a look.
The Urban Cross was the centre of attraction of the Fiat’s stall this Auto expo and why not it was definitely amongst one of the best looking cars of the Auto expo. Now Fiat India has confirmed in some of their social media pages that that they will be launching the Urban Cross soon in the Indian market now rumors are that perhaps it will be launched only as an Abarth variant.
Until now we only saw the car at the Auto expo floors only while it was being displayed we actually did not see the Avventura badge anywhere on the car which means although this car is based on the Fiat Avventura but Fiat does not want to associate this particular model as just another Avventura variant. We also came to know that under the hood the Fiat Urban Cross will also use a more powerful 1.4-litre T-Jet petrol engine which is capable of producing an impressive 140 PS of peak power at 5,500 rpm and an equally impressive torque amount of 210 Nm at 2,000-4,000 rpm instead of the regular F.I.R.E petrol unit and 1.3 Liter Multijet diesel engine. This is actually the same engine which powers the Abarth powered Punto and the Avventura.
As far as the styling is concerned it too had some Abarth touches to it specially the show car which looked out of this world with the new grille design and an impressive looking 17 inch alloy wheels.
Now we can only wait until the car is actually launched in the Indian market and find out that will it actually get the Abarth or the Avventura nameplate after its name.
When all the auto manufacturers were busy showcasing some new products from their stable at the 2016 Auto expo then how could Fiat actually stay behind? Apart from showcasing their prized Punto Abarth and Abarth Competizione Fiat also showcased the Fiat Avventura Urban Cross which is actually another variant of the Avventura already available on sale in the Indian market and the good news is that we actually don’t have to wait too long for the car to launch in the Indian market.
So, if you start looking for the differences in the new car which was showcased at the 2016 Auto expo from the existing Avventura then honestly there are very few, however the new variant does get some significant updates and upgrades of its own which are worth mentioning. However let’s just start by saying that the new Urban Cross will actually borrow the engine from the Avventura powered Abarth instead of the standard Avventura Crossover. Now what that actually means is that under the hood of the Urban Cross you will find the 1.4-litre T-Jet petrol engine which is capable of producing an impressive power and torque output.
We were able catch z glimpse of the car at the 2016 Auto Expo floor and were also able to collect some new information as well plenty of images which we have updated in this review article.

The Avventura is based on Fiat’s hatchback Punto although it comes with some unique styling and design features of its own too. The Fiat Avveentura has been made available with 3 trims namely Active Dynamic and Emotion and will also be available with both diesel and petrol engine options.
Powering the petrol varaint is a 1.4 Liter FIRE petrol unit which produces about 90 Ps of peak power at 6000 rpm and 115 Nm of torque at 4500 rpm, the engine is mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. This petrol engine promises to return an ARAI claimed mileage of 14.4 km/l. The diesel variant on the other hand is powered by the 1.3 Liter renowned Diesel unit which is used in couple of other Indian diesel cars also, this unit mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox produces about 93 ps of peak power at 4000 rpm and 209 Nm of torque at 2000 rpm. On the styling font the Avventura looks almost similar to the Avventura concept that you have actually seen at the 2014 Auto expo, although the production version received few updates of its own. The production version of the Avventura does not get the projector headlamps which was available with the concept version. The Fiat Avventura definitely is one stylish Crossover, at the front it gets skid plates and differently designed more aggressive looking front bumper which also gets integrated fog lamps while towards the side the 16 inch stylish alloy wheels will surely attract your attention, this crossover also gets an impressive 205 mm of ground clearance which will help it overcome any obstacle it will find in urban city. There are many auto segments in India and one new segment that was added recently to the group is termed as ‘Crossovers’ and many auto manufacturers already launched their own products under this particular segment like the Toyota and Volkswagen, their products which include the Volkswagen Cross Polo and the Toyota Etios Cross however was not able to leave a mark upon the Indian consumers mind because they looked less like a Crossover and more pumped up version of their regular hatch on which these new products were based upon.
However the Italian auto manufacturer Fiat is here to change all that, they will be launching their Avventura Crossover which is also based on their Punto hatch. Punto recently received a facelift and it looked more like a new generation car totally (minus the engine and transmission) than actually a facelift. Now if you ask me, the Fiat Avventura which will be launching in India on 21st October 2014 looks much better than the other two offerings from the Volkswagen and Toyota because it has got an impressive ground clearance, new stylish grille and bigger 16 inch wheels and more Crossover stance. However when it comes to engine that hasn’t changed a lot but don’t get disappointed either because it did received some tweaks to make this Crossover a fun machine to drive.
Below provided are some specs and details that you need to know about the Fiat Avventura
Fiat is making some noise in the Indian market now for sure they have recently launched the facelift Punto Evo in the Indian market and now according to the report they will also be launching the Avventura Crossover which is based on the Punto Evo and that is not all they will also be bringing the 500 Abarth hatch which has been made keeping the performance oriented customers in mind.
Now we are interested in both the cars but the 500 Abarth will be available in the Indian market via the CBU (Completely built unit) route and will compete directly against the other entry level premium small cars available in the Country like Mercedes A Class, BMW 1 Series and the Volvo V40 Cross Country. The 500 Abarth is the same iconic Fiat 500 hatch which has been tuned by Abarth, it gets a powerful 1.4 litre MultiAir turbocharged petrol engine unit mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox generating an impressive 135 bhp of peak power and 230 Nm of torque. Fiat could also perhaps launch the top of the range Essess variant which generates a mindblowing 161 bhp of peak power. The 500 Abarth gets projector headlamps, KONI suspension setup at the front, ABS and EBD and ESC and 7 airbags inside for the safety of its passengers.
Fiat has just released a trailer of their upcoming crossover vehicle the Avventura which was first showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo. This car carries some of the modern styling cues from the Italian auto manufacturer which will also be seen in some of their upcoming cars for example the facelift Punto Evo which will be launched in the Indian market this August.
The Fiat Avventura looks damn interesting! and fortunately this car has all the appeal which will attract the young buyers towards it. In this video we can clearly see that Fiat clearly describes the character of this vehicle and calls it a "contemporary urban vehicle" which looks cool too. Few days ago Fiat teased us with the projector headlamps of the car and now this video surely has been released to draw attention towards it.
The Fiat Avventura will be powered by a same engine which does duty under the hood of the upcoming Punto Evo and the existing Punto hatch. The petrol variant of the Avventura will be powered by a 1.2-liter petrol which generates 68PS of power while the bigger 1.4 liter produces 90PS. There will also be a 1.3 liter diesel engine which produces 90 Hp of peak power, all the above engines are mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox.
Expect the Avventura to be launched in the Indian market during the festive seasons priced a tad higher than the Punto Evo hatch.
