US Spec Hyundai Elantra Gets Good Rating At Crash Test: Video
There is some good news for the Hyundai fans of India, the US Spec Hyundai Elantra earned top awards from the insurance institute for highway safety. The Insurance institute for highway safety is an independent, nonprofit scientific and educational organization which is dedicated towards reducing the deaths, injuries and property damages caused from crashes on the American roads.
Recently the US Spec Elantra which is also heading towards the Indian market this year has scored the top safety pick plus ratings over the previous generation sedans ratings. According to the institute’s report the previous generation Hyundai Elantra failed to impress them and also score good ratings at the good small overlap rating test. The structure was not impressive and there was maximum intrusion at the occupant’s space of 9 inches. Now compared to the previous car the intrusion level on the new Elantra sedan was only 2 inches. The impressive result was because the car manufacturer has made some changes in their new generation car which included strengthening the junction in between the door sills and the hinge pillars apart from also modifying the front airbags as well.
The top safety ratings were given to the car model which was manufactured after March 2016. The sedan which was tested was also equipped with optional front crash system prevention as well. The crash test was conducted at speeds of 40 km/h while the safety system actually reduced the car’s speed to 36 kph during the time of the collision. This life saving system also completely avoided the collision while it was tested at speeds of 19 km/h.
You can expect the soon to be launched India bound Hyundai Elantra too also come equipped with an improved body shell and plenty of safety features as well for the safety of the occupants inside.
