Renault To Launch Kaptur Crossover Soon
While Renault’s small cars were not able to impress the Indian customers their compact SUV has done the job perfectly. Their popular offering the compact SUV space came in the form of the Duster launched back in 2012. This is definitely counted as one of their most successful product in the Indian market. Now it seems like Renault is all set to add another Crossover to their lineup. Called the Kaptur, now this particular name will sound familiar to you all because Renault already sells the car in the markets of Europe but the Crossover is called Captur there.
Now the Crossover which will be sold in the Indian market will although look identical to the ones sold in the European market but it will be based on a completely different platform here in India, while the European spec Captur underpins Clio’s platform but in India, it will be based on Duster’s platform. Now according to the reports, this has been done deliberately keeping the developing market in mind. Renault definitely has plans to keep the pricing in check and thus also will be looking to share many of its parts as well with some of their existing cars of the Indian market.

The Indian automotive scenario has been changing drastically in last few years. Indian customers are opening up toward fresh new designs, new niche. The compact SUVs and crossovers have becoming more and more popular day by day in the country like the rest of the world. In 2015 Maruti-Suzuki also tried its luck in the compact crossover segment with the S-Cross.
Now with almost two year after the launch of the model the automaker has developed a facelift version of the S-Cross. Any SUV lover wants his car to be rugged looking. And the new S-Cross looks exactly so. It can impress with its aggressive styling.
Maruti discontinued the SX4 sedan and launched the S-Cross Crossover in the Indian market. List of hatchbacks which are made to look like SUVs/crossovers
Given the fact of immensely rising popularity of compact SUVs and crossovers in the Indian market, it is a no surprise how deeply we Indians have a thing for owning SUVs. It is this serious love for SUVs among Indian customers of today, which is why all the manufactures, especially the global ones, have gone back to their design tables and come up with models which are designed in India for the world. Such is the fascination for SUVs among Indians, that the automakers are not shying off from coming up with hatchback based crossovers.
A category of vehicles rather unheard globally, the hatchback based crossovers come with some added design elements and changes inside and out, which make them look more rugged than their hatchback counterparts. Though, it doesn’t mean that they are off-road ready, for the changes are just aesthetic rather than being functional. The majority of the automakers have taken this rather unique step to raise their sales in the market, which surprisingly is paying them as well.
In this feature story, we are throwing some light on all those hatchback based crossovers, which have turned to be game changers for their respective parent manufacturers. Following is a complete list of all such hatchbacks which look like jacked up SUVs.

Unexpectedly Honda has decided to launch this hatchback based Crossover in India soon and according to some rumours the production of this new Crossover has already commenced at their Tapukara plant in Rajasthan.
Now this is actually a bold move from the manufacturer considering the fact that they still have not decided to launch a compact Crossover in the Indian market although of the segments popularity within the Country. Mahindra & Mahindra showcased the KUV100 Anniversary edition in India and this special edition compact Crossover will also be launching soon in the Indian market along with the updated variant. Just like we recently reported in our recent preview article of the updated 2017 KUV100 that Mahindra launched the KUV100 exactly a year ago in India and initially the vehicle was in high demand but gradually the demand for the SUV has declined and was at its lowest in the month of December 2016.
What is even more interesting is also the fact while the KUV100 was the only Crossover which dominated its segment because it had no other potential threats from any rivals and definitely offered more than any other hatchbacks at this price point. But now after the launch of the Maruti Ignis which actually is more features rich and definitely more fuel efficient. Mahindra definitely needed something fancy in their plate to drive the attention from the recently launched rival on to their own product.
Now in order to increase its sales figures Mahindra surely needed something which could bring back the customers interest back to their entry level offering and hence the anniversary edition. Now unfortunately this special edition KUV100 does not get any major updates under the hood but it surely gets few cosmetic updates which has made the car more attractive.

2017 Mahindra KUV100
Mahindra launched the KUV100 exactly a year ago in India; the auto manufacturer pitched it as a small SUV and their entry level offering for the Indian market. Basically this is actually a beefed up hatchback and gets both petrol and diesel engine under the hood. Although the KUV100 made a fiery start in terms of sales when it was launched initially but slowly the sales number declined and in the month of December 2016 only 1953 units of the vehicle was sold which is actually its lowest numbers since its launch.
Like you all know that the Mahindra KUV100 is definitely not a compact SUV and is also priced lower than most of the other compact SUV offerings. This car now competes directly in the B+ segment hatchbacks and locks horns directly with the recently introduced Maruti Suzuki Ignis which too is actually a beefed up Cross hatchback.
Now that its rival has been launched here how can Mahindra possible stay behind? Thus they have decided to introduce the updated variant of the hatchback.
