Mercedes Benz SLK Class is a compact luxury roadster launched in 1997 for the first time after the German auto giant unveiled it in 1996. The car was a symbol of sheer luxury blended with pure elegance and eye popping technologies offering the charm of open air driving.
SLK was first showcased as SLK II concept at the 1994 Paris Motor Show. The Vario roof was the main attraction of the car. It became immensely popular very soon. Well, there is no shame in accepting that, we all like the breeze to comb through our hairs. Yes, Mercedes SLK was offering exactly that kind of exuberating driving experience to us. Initially, it was a very popular car, therefore giving Mercedes a whooping sales figure. Although lately the sales figure dropped, and Mercedes started thinking about bringing an all new car which would bear the same legacy. And, here comes the new Mercedes Benz SLC. The newest model from the German automaker’s stable.
Recently Mercedes has unveiled the new SLC, which will be arriving in the showrooms around mid 2016. Good news for us Indians that Mercedes will sell the SLC in this country too, considering the growing popularity and demand for luxury sporty cars. The renamed version of SLK bears many design cues from the old car which is blended with new technologies and design inputs. This car also carries a touch of C-Class’s soul. To put it otherwise, SLC is the roadster version of C-Class.
The new SLC was launched in five different trims, which are – SLC 180, SLC 200, SLC 300, SLC 250 D and SLC 43. The SLC 43 is the high performance version. British auto manufacturer Jaguar is all set to enter the third season of the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) Formula E Championship as with its own team. On 24th October, 2015 the second season of FIA Formula E has already began. It is the first global electric single seater car championship. By participating in this championship Jaguar Land Rover will be able to research, develop and test their EV powertrains, as the automobile engineers from JLR will closely work with the racing team.
Jaguar is yet to reveal the actual car, but they already published a few photographs of the upcoming Formula E car, which looks almost identical to the present generation car. Therefore it is easily assumable that the aerodynamics won’t change much. The visible changes can be seen in form of revised side pods, rear wing. Visually most striking thing about the car is the livery. The car is painted in a light gray shade, while the neon blue strips on it grab the eye. We assume the neon blue strips represent the electric powertrain beneath the shell of the car. Although Jaguar is yet to reveal any detail about the powertrain for this car, but they did mention about the collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering.
Volkswagen Polo is one of the most popular premium hatchbacks in India. The sporty compact look, stylish design, comfortable premium interior, range of powertrains, and of course attractive performance – altogether Polo certainly have all those in one package which can leave other hatchbacks way behind. Volkswagen Polo GTI can easily be called as the junior version of VW Golf GTI. The Polo GTI sports plenty of things which makes the Golf GTI a popular performance oriented hatchback. It can be used every day, the interior is pretty much practical, build quality of the car is very good and the performance is very impressive indeed.
In India Volkswagen has already given the Polo several facelifts. But the sporty looking compact hatchback was not sufficient to give proxy for a hot hatch, and now, with the expected launch of Volkswagen Polo GTI at 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo the wait is set to be over.
We have already seen the VW Polo GTI on Indian roads recently, which indicates that the car is about to roll out from showrooms in the country. The increasing demand for sporty compact hatchbacks and hot hatchbacks are prompting several auto makers to bring powerful compact hatchbacks in the country. In 2015 we have seen the Italian automaker Fiat launched Abarth Punto, 595 Competizione. Volkswagen already has Polo GT which is a very powerful variant among the Polo lineup. Now they want to expand the lineup with the GTI variant which was inspired by the World Rally Championship. Although, by no means the car look like the VW Polo WRC model, but the performance will surely pacify the speed thrust of the petrolheads.
Before you take a close look at the Volkswagen Polo GTI at the upcoming 2016 Indian Auto Expo, we brought you a detailed review of the car. Let’s take a look.

Ferrari has always been known for their exotic supercars. In 2011 Geneva Motor Show, when they first unveiled Pininfarina designed two door Ferrari FF grand tourer, it stirred quite an amusement among Ferrari lovers, as it was the first all wheel drive from the Italian auto maker’s stable. As a direct successor of Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, FF adorned an unusual design language. Unlike the usual coupe styling, Ferrari designed this car in a sporty hatchback or estate like way, which is known as the shooting brake style. Being a 4x4 technology powered exotic car it came able to go rough terrains with ease, which made it a popular model immediately after the launch. Not only that, Ferrari FF is also known as one of the few very practical cars from the Italian auto maker’s Maranello plant.
The rear seats of this hatchback/estate styled car are foldable, with which the boot space can be increased upto 800 litres, which is incredible along with the supercar like performance of this car. The entire package made this car a rare among all the exotics from Ferrari. Unveiled in 2011, Ferrari FF made its debut in 2012. Since then this car has gone through a few facelifts. Ever imagined what it would look like, if eminent sports persons like legendary Muhammad Ali, tennis ace Maria Sharapova or chess champion Magnus Carlsen starts fighting against themselves? Well, I have never thought anything like that. But, it seems Porsche did, and they brought all three star sportspersons to their own arena, court or board to fight against themselves only.
Yes. The latest Porsche TVC for the Porsche 911 is named as “Compete”, and it shows exactly what we just talked about. In that TVC we can see Muhammad Ali is all laced up against Muhammad Ali, Maria Sharapova serving and shooting forehands to Maria Sharapova, and chess grandmaster Magnus Carlsen is sitting face to face against Magnus Carlsen in a tense game. The unique TV commercial will surely engage the viewers to it. As it seems, Porsche took the concept of this TVC from a Gatorade campaign, the energy drink maker once used with Michael Jordan. In the TVC two Porsche 911s are seen racing on the tarmac, which delivers the ultimate message. That is, Porsche 911 can only be challenged by Porsche 911 only, resulting the 911 reaching a new height by improving itself.
The Porsche 911 Carrera is powered by two differently tuned 3.0 litre 6 cylinder flat boxer engine, mated to a 7 speed manual or 7 speed PDK automatic transmission. It produces a peak power of 370 hp and 420 in two different tunes, while the torque outputs are 450 Nm and 500 Nm respectively. The Top speed is 295 kmph to 308 kmph respectively.
If we talk about supercars, Ferrari needs no introduction but a whole large chapter to depict the glory of the Italian auto maker since 1947. No wonder, another Italian giant Lamborghini has always given them toughest competition. When Lamborghini launched Aventador in 2012, Ferrari saw steep competition, and to grab their spot in the supercar market tighter they took up a project to make a car which would come with sheer power and performance like the Aventador and in a wrapping of Ferrari’s signature luxurious comfort. Thus came the Ferrari F12berlinetta, a beautifully gorgeous supercar with extreme power. The Italian company depicts this car as the most powerful Ferrari in the V12 segment.
In India Ferrari offers a few of their exotic models, and F12berlinetta is one of them. Debuted at the 2012 Geneva Motor show this car replaced the 599 series grand tourers. The front mid engine, rear wheel drive grand tourer surely saved Ferrari’s face against Lamborghini. The F12berlinetta has won quite a few awards too. The naturally aspirated 6.3 litre Ferrari V12 engine under the hood of F12berlinetta has won the “International Engine of the Year Awards 2013” in the best performance category and best engine above 4.0 litres. This car was also named as the "The Supercar of the Year 2012" by Top Gear. F12berlinetta is one such car, which many of us crave to drive.
