The Mini Cooper S goes topless
We are very much conscious about Volkswagen Beetle; those little bugs like vehicles have an irreplaceable and undeniable charm indeed. Although the German iconic car has a permanent place in every automobile enthusiast’s heart, but it is not sure why the MINI cars, which are substantially close to the Beetle’s, could not gain the permanent place in the petrol head’s heart.
Well, without going deeper we can assume Beetle has a long history and it was first produced as the first “people’s car” of the world. On the other hand, MINI vehicles have always delivered an elegant charm and aura which is not very close to the “people’s car” theory.
Coming back to India, BMW has made quite a profit in the country. But their subsidiary MINI couldn’t make it upto the mark. Only a few people of the country, mostly from the elegant class, use this car and that too, in a very small number. Getting Amitabh Bachchan as their prized customer MINI couldn’t afford a good share of Indian automobile market pie.
Convertibles bring us the charm and aura from the long gone era, when driving on street was so much pleasure, streets were not crowded. But as time evolved, convertibles also took a new face. MINI Cooper S Convertible come in the same way. The drop top version from the British iconic car manufacturer was unveiled a few days ago, just before the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. There is no news yet about the car launching in India. But as we have heard, this car may arrive in India sometime next year. Therefore we tried to bring our readers a detailed review of 2016 MINI Cooper S Convertible.
Update 17.03.2016: Mini Cooper S Converticble launched in India. We have updated the review with new informations and images.

The concept of open air motoring in India may sound like an absolutely stupid idea especially keeping our congested traffic situation and our Indian climate in mind but that does not actually stop the manufacturer from introducing convertible models here in India. The latest car to enter the Indian market scene from Ferrari is called the 488 Spider, which happens to be the most powerful mid-rear mounted V8 car to feature a retractable hard top.
Now compared to the classic fabric soft-top the RTH (Retractable Hard Top) ensures better cockpit comfort, safety as well as lower weight. The 488 Spider just like every other Ferrari sportscars has that sweet Ferrari sound which actually comes out from that turbo charged naturally aspirated V8 unit. This turbo V8 unit has an constant power level upgrade across the rev range and thus eliminating turbo lag completely. The other features of the 488 Spider are its aluminum spaceframe chassis which not only provide rigidity but also makes the car even more aerodynamic.
The 488 Spider uses the same engine which also powers the 488 GTB, no other cars could perhaps match the brilliant amalgam of power and performance, although being an open top model this sporstcar can actually sprint from 0-100 km/h mark in just 3 seconds flat while the 200 km/h sprint is achievable in just 8.7 seconds.
Now that Lamborghini is here with their Huracan spider this two cars definitely are fierce rivals and the battle to claim the top spot has only begun.

If you do little research you will find that Mercedes introduced the SL way back in the year 1954, and thus this has to be one of the those iconic cars which has helped build this premium German car maker their reputation. Besides the lightweight body shell the Convertible was way better looking and also featured a hardtop which also came with an optional panoramic sunroof as well.
November 2015, Mercedes-Benz introduced a facelift variant of the Convertible at the Los Angeles Auto show and boy oh boy! It attracted plenty of attention. The new SL gets a revised front and rear fascia; the hardtop can now be operated at speeds of upto 40 km/h, the interior too has been revised.
The convertible is available with 4 variants which includes the entry level SL 400 powered by an updated V6 unit, while the SL 500 gets V8 unit, there are two AMG variants available too which comes in the form of the SL 63 and the SL 65.
