Chevrolet Cruze

We were quite excited when we saw Chevrolet unveiled the new generation Cruze and it also went on sale in some International market at the same time. Unfortunately we came to know that General Motors has no plan of introducing the new generation sedan in the Indian market this year instead they are planning to launch a facelift variant of their existing 2014 model year Cruze during the first half of 2016.

Now don’t expect too many changes on the facelift variant of the new Cruze because Chevrolet already launched the 2014 model year not so long ago and this sedan received few exterior cosmetic upgrades along with some interior changes as well. The Cruze which was introduced in the Indian market back in 2009 is definitely one popular car in its segment mainly because of its muscular styling and that powerful 2.0 Litre diesel engine which produces the maximum power and torque output in its class.

As far as the upcoming facelift Cruze is concerned we although do not have much details about the sedan at this moment but surely we can give you an idea of what you could expect from the car. We are pretty sure that the facelift Cruze won’t definitely get any changes under its hood and thus you can expect the same 2.0 Litre diesel motor to power the soon to be launched facelift model as well.

Update 24.02.2016:- Chevrolet slashed the prices of the facelift Chevrolet Cruze that they introduced recently and we have updated the review with the new prices

Next Generation Chevrolet Cruze Spotted Testing; Is This The Cruze Meant For Indian Market

Next Generation Chevrolet Cruze Spotted Testing; Is This The Cruze Meant For Indian Market

based on a new platform and also gets new drivetrains

Chevrolet recently introduced the Cruze facelift in India and although we all have expected that Chevrolet would perhaps launch the new generation car in the Indian market but that unfortunately was not the case.

Recently the new generation 2017 Cruze was caught testing on the roads of Brazil and what it appears like that it definitely looks a lot different than the car which is available for sale in the Indian market. Although the car which was caught testing was wrapped in heavy camouflage but some of the design elements was visible.

Take the front grille for example, the 2017 Cruze loses the huge boring front grille and wears a much more aggressive and sharp looking grille. The front headlamps also look different and much more in line with that of the new Cruze launched in the US market. The swooping roofline and the rear taillamps too looks identical to the ones you will find in the US spec variant. Talk about styling and the new Cruze definitely looks sharper and gets a hexagonal grille towards the front while all the extra muscle has now been replaced with shaper and edgy lines. The C-pillar of the new generation Cruze has also been redesigned. And it adds a dynamic appearance towards the side profile. The rear taillamps also has been restyled.

The Chevrolet Cruze is also based on a new D2XX platform while its body structure has also been stiffened. Under the hood the new generation Chevrolet Cruze gets number of engine options, the 1.4 Litre DOHC I-4 petrol unit is capable of producing about 153 Hp of peak power and 240 Nm of torque. This new engine is paired to either a standard 6 speed manual or a size speed automatic transmission.

The first generation Cruze hit the market back in the year 2008 and since then it has been one important product for Chevrolet because Chevy was able to sell more than 3.5 Million units of the car which speaks of its popularity not only in the US market but global market as well. This car is not only popular in the US market but Indian market as well and since the Cruze has been here since 2009 people are well aware of this particular sedan.

Only recently Chevrolet has taken the wraps off from the second generation Cruze which according to the American Auto manufacturer is lighter, loaded and more fuel efficient than the sedan it replaces. OVERVIEW 2014 Chevrolet Cruze

2014 Chevrolet Cruze

Back in the month of October of 2013, Chevrolet launched the facelift Cruze in a bid to generate some interest in the product ahead of the new year. GM gave the Chevrolet Cruze a slight makeover with nothing more than just aesthetic changes.

Now, GM has launched yet another facelift, however this time the changes are not as noticeable as before. Earlier, the Cruze was given a redesigned front bumper and grille. The reshaped bumper also housed a set of fog lamps. The old 15 inch runners were replaced with stylish new 16-inch wheels.

With that said, under the hood not much has changed since then. On the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze, GM has added a set of integrated turn signals on the ORVMs and that’s about it. As an attempt to promote the Cruze as good value, GM also threw in a set of safety airbags last time around.

Powering the car is a very potent 2.0-liter diesel engine that delivers 165 horsepower and is mated to either a manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Prices for the updated Cruze start at INR 13.7 lakh ex-showroom Delhi.

2015 Chevrolet Cruze to debut at the 2014 New York auto show

2015 Chevrolet Cruze to debut at the 2014 New York auto show

Chevrolet is all set to launch the 2015 Cruze at the New York International Auto Show. The sedan received new styling revisions, improved interior and some new connectivity features to cater to the modern tech-savvy generation. A few days back we had published images of what seemed like the next generation Cruze, however the 2015 model was not to be a revolutionary change and instead Chevrolet gave it a mild facelift.

The exterior styling gets a fresh dose of chrome along the grille and a revised front bumper. The new Cruze also incorporates intuitive controls, voice operated features along with Message Alerts, Apple Siri integration, OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi hotspot.

“We’ve simply made a great, versatile car even better,” said Steve Majoros, Chevrolet director of passenger car and crossover marketing. “Chevrolet continues to design, build and sell the most compelling small cars in its history and the 2015 Cruze offers more of the features, connectivity and efficiency that are important to today’s customers.”

The 2015 Chevrolet Cruze borrowed design cues from the Impala and the Malibu to transform itself into a more mature looking mid-size sedan. LED daytime running lights are available on high-end variants while the traditional swept-back headlamp graphic has also been retained, but now the car even has a sportier look to it. Chevrolet has added two new variants to the Cruze line up. The Cruze Eco is claimed to deliver 42 mpg on the highway while the Cruze diesel with a 151 horsepower engine returns 46 mpg.

Is This the next generation Chevrolet Cruze?

Is This the next generation Chevrolet Cruze?

The Chevrolet Cruze heads GM’s premium mid-size segment in India. A replacement for the current generation Cruze will make its global debut next year and will also be available in India.

The 2016 Chevrolet Cruze has been spotted a few times undergoing pre-production tests and sporting heavy camouflage. For the first time since the prototypes were spotted, a completely undisguised Chevrolet which could be the next Cruze has been snapped.

If this is really the next generation Cruze, I think we got one properly good looking sedan here. The front end has been redesigned completely with new bumpers. headlights and grille. The bumper now features a much larger grille surface with LED daytime running lights on either side. The head lamp graphics have been changed resulting in a meaner and focused look.

This particular car had projector headlights as well. Like the current Cruze, the new model retains the bold shoulder line. The rear end reminds me of the Hyundai Elantra which is already on sale here in India. The wraparound tail lamp graphic with horizontal reflecting surfaces give a sense of width.

The interior has been reworked as well. The steering wheel looks sleeker, sporty and is a three-spoke unit. Chrome has been used sparingly to create a plush cabin. Under the bonnet, the Cruze will continue to use the 2.0-liter diesel unit putting out 166 PS and 380 Nm of torque. The current Cruze uses a 6-speed manual or can also be ordered with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

2014 Chevrolet Cruze

2014 Chevrolet Cruze

The Chevrolet Cruze has been one of the best selling models for the brand. It once used to dominate the segment that had cars like the Skoda Laura and the Honda Civic. Who wouldn’t say no to a punchy diesel motor and fun ride?

To build that momentum again, Chevrolet has announced the updated Cruze that comes with some notable cosmetic changes. The front of the sedan is fitted with a completely new bumper which has an integrated triangular set of fog lamps, while the 15 inch rims are replaced with bigger, 16 inch, 10 spoke alloy rims.

The updated Cruze didn’t receive much changes under the hood. It is powered by the same 2.0 liter engine which generates 166 PS of power and 380 NM of torque. The engine is mated to either a 6 speed manual gearbox or an optional six speed automatic gearbox. The interior of the sedan also remains untouched, apart from the fact that they have added two more additional airbags to strengthen the car’s safety.

But don’t be upset. GM is planning to launch an all new Chevrolet Cruze in the year 2015 like we reported earlier.

Lot of things are not going in favor of Chevrolet right now. The Cruze’s sales have been sluggish for quite some time and, recently, Skoda announced the new Octavia in India, that is grabbing attention quite well. Perhaps, Chevrolet thought that this would be a good time to launch a refreshed version of the Octavia’s rival to boost its sales figures. We really cannot tell whether it would be successful or not. Let’s hope that this new facelift will help boost sales figures so that they’ll be convinced to bring home the next gen Cruze .

The facelifted Cruze has been priced at Rs. 13.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

2015 Chevrolet Cruze

2015 Chevrolet Cruze

It’s been a while since the Bow-Tie brand phased out a proper update for their sedan, the Chevrolet Cruze. Launched way back in 2010, the Chevrolet Cruze did spark some interest among customers, attributing to good sales figures. However, it has aged since then despite Chevrolet rolling out minor updates. With the segment becoming much more competitive after Skoda announced the Octavia and VW’s new Jetta garnering attention, it was high time that Chevy did something to spark interest for their Cruze, like it did back in 2010.

Well, looks like the boys at Chevy have heard our plea and begun developing the next generation of the midsize sedan. Set to arrive in 2015, the new Cruze will sit atop a new platform, called the Delta platfrom, that will underpin international models like the Volt and the Opel Astra. The engine lineup is still under question, though we expect improved versions of the current lineup.

Design point of view, we can bet that it’s going to look pretty different judging by the fact that the R&D team took the pain of wrapping the entire car rather than the elements that would define the new car. Luckily, we’ve got some shots of the interior that hasn’t been covered. Chevrolet has taken a page out of the Cadillac’s interior design handbook for the new Cruze and, it’s safe to say. is definitely a step up from the previous design.

For people who’ve already got excited, the new Cruze will arrive at Indian shores at the beginning of 2015. We’ll keep this post updated once new details drop by.

Details revealed on the 2014 Chevrolet Cruze

Chevrolet’s new global design theme will make its way onto the mid-cycle refresh of its Cruze sedan by 2014. The new look was first seen on the 2014 Chevrolet Impala and after the Impala the Cruze will become the next model in the automaker’s lineup to feature its new front-end design. The Chevy crossbar will be replaced by smaller, squarer grilles and majority of the changes on the 2014 Cruze will be on its front end.

The majority of the changes on the 2014 Cruze refresh will be on its front end, while the rest of the vehicle will probably see minor updates. Apart from the redesign Chevrolet will also be introducing the Cruze Eco-D diesel model which will be powered by a 2-liter diesel engine. This diesel model will have upgraded suspension to accompany the high-torque powerplant.

General Motors India had recently introduced an updated version of the Cruze with a stonker of a diesel motor but there weren’t any changes made to the styling. The Cruze will also get new headlamps and front bumper with LED lamps. There will be minor updates to the interior with the introduction of more features and use of better materials.

OVERVIEW 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

2012 Chevrolet Cruze

The facelift Chevrolet Cruze which was shown at the Busan Motor Show earlier this year would not be coming to India anytime this year as we had first thought. Chevrolet though has launched an upgraded version of the diesel engine on the Cruze which gives this diesel rocket even more punch. There is also a new gearbox and though the prices haven’t yet been announced, we expect the prices to be between 14lakhs to 15.5lakhs ex-showroom New Delhi. The Chevrolet Cruze has been a big success for the manufacturer primarily because of the powerful diesel engine but also because of the interior space and the road presence. The Cruze is an important car for GM in India and has helped it to catch up with the now more established Japanese and Germans manufacturers.

2012 Chevrolet Cruze 1.7 VCDi

2012 Chevrolet Cruze 1.7 VCDi

The Chevrolet Cruze has been one of Chevrolet India’s few success stories. The manufacturer first struggled with their choice of cars and for a long time found it hard to shrug off the image that it had inherited because of Opel. The Cruze along with the Beat and the Spark have been the Chevy cars that have sold in reasonable numbers. In June or July this year Chevrolet will also be introducing the Chinese made Sail hatchback which is to be followed by the sail sedan. Launched in 2010, the Chevy Cruze with its strong 2-litre diesel engine delivers an acceleration run to 100kmph in under 10seconds (manufacturer claimed timing is faster) and with its strong value for money proposition, has been quite successful in India. Chevrolet has now launched a smaller 1.7-litre VCDi diesel engine in England and there is every chance that the manufacturer might bring it into India as well which would reduce the prices and open up a new market for the Cruze. Currently the prices for the Cruze start from over 12.5lakh and if introduced, the smaller engine could get the prices down by 1.5lakhs to about 11lakhs.

OVERVIEW 2010 Chevrolet Cruze

2010 Chevrolet Cruze

The Cruze is a global car produced by Chevy. The manufacturer hopes it will be a game changer for it in India

GM in India has been playing catch up with the now more established Japanese and Germans manufacturers and has been reduced to the sidelines. Instead of telling you where it all went wrong and why GM hasn’t been able to become a significant player in the Indian market, let us start the review on a more encouraging note for GM. GM was the first manufacturer in the world to introduce automatic transmission on a production car and till only a few years ago it was ranked as the largest global automaker in terms of sales. Needless to say the Cruze is an important car for the American giant as it goes about reinventing itself in India. With prices starting from Rs11,84,316 to Rs14,31,028 ex-showroom New Delhi, for the Cruze to succeed it needs to play the role of both an American muscle car and European Sedan.
