Chevrolet Launching The new Generation Beat Soon!

Get all the details that you need and also our view of the new generation hatchback

Some reports suggest that the new generation Chevrolet Beat will be launching within the next few months here in India. This is a new generation hatchback which is commonly known as Spark in Global market. However, there is a difference between the International spec hatchback and the hatchback which will launch in India.

While the International Spark underpins a whole new platform called G2XX platform, which is the successor to GM’s Gamma 2 platform and underpins some other GM vehicles like Aveo and Bolt EV, the Indian spec Beat will continue to use the old Beat’s platform to cut the cost. So you can say that the new generation Beat is an updated variant of its predecessor.

New Chevrolet Beat Hatchback Spotted Testing Again As Launch Date Nears

New Chevrolet Beat Hatchback Spotted Testing Again As Launch Date Nears

Expect the new hatchback to launch towards the first half of 2017

Chevrolet is all set to introduce the new generation Beat hatchback soon, the hatchback was spotted couple of times being tested on the Indian road. It was once again caught on video as well strengthening the chances of its launch in the recent months.

Chevrolet showcased the new generation Beat hatchback for the first time at the 2015 Seoul Motor show. While for the International market the Beat (also known as Spark) is based on a new M2 platform. This is an improved platform but unfortunately the Indian spec Beat will be based on the same old platform which underpins the current hatchback. The reason for GM not using the new expensive M2 platform for the Indian market is to keep the prices of the new hatchback down and in the same margin of its predecessor which is on sale currently.

Upcoming Chevrolet Beat Hatchback Spied!

Upcoming Chevrolet Beat Hatchback Spied!

For the first time the interiors of the Indian spec variant got spied

Team-BHP reader was recently able to spot the soon to be launched next generation Beat hatchback. The best part is that the person managed to get some interior pictures of what it looks like the production ready mule of the hatchback. According to the reports Chevrolet has plans to launch the new 2017 Beat hatchback towards the first half of the year 2017.

As far as the exterior styling is concerned the next generation Indian spec Beat hatchback will draw its inspiration from the Chevrolet Spark which is sold in some of the other International markets of the world. Expect the new Beat to looks little less aggressive than its predecessor however the front face of the hatchback will get the newly designed headlamps, followed by new much less aggressive grille. However we also believe that Chevy might also add LED DRL lamps and round shaped fog lamps as well to match the current trend. The side profile will also get new set of alloy wheels. Towards the rear profile the new hatchback will definitely get a new set of taillamps and a repositioned registration number plate area.

Chevrolet’s Upcoming Compact Sedan Beat Essentia Caught Testing

Thed newest compact sedan will replace the Sail compact sedan in the market

According to the recent reports the car will be launched in the Indian market next year and will take on some of the other rivals of the Indian market like the Tata Zest and the Hyundai Xcent and also Maruti Swift Dzire.

The test mule which was caught testing was heavily camouflaged but there was no doubt that this is definitely the new sedan. The original concept which was showcased at the show surely looked interesting with its big headlamps towards the front and tall taillamps towards the rear. Chevrolet Beat Hatchback Scores Zero Star At Latin NCAP Test

Chevrolet Beat Hatchback Scores Zero Star At Latin NCAP Test

airbagless Indian built Chevy Beat gets 0 stars while Euro version with airbag got 4 stars in 2009

After all the controversy surrounding the crash test results of the Indian cars last year what it looks like nothing has changed actually. Only yesterday we reported about both the cars and how they scored at the Global NCAP crash tests. Now the Chevrolet Beat which is one of the popular hatchbacks from GM motors was tested at the Latin NCAP test facility and the results were equally shocking as well.

The made in India Chevrolet Beat which is sold under the name of Spark GT in the Latin American market scored zero stars for adult and child occupant protection. The Spark GT is a popular model in the markets of Mexico and Colombia.

Alejandro Furas, Latin NCAP Secretary General said that this is definitely another big disappointment from General Motors especially for the model which definitely has potential to offer the highest level of protection. The basic version which was tested by Euro NCAP in 2009 was equipped with 6 airbags in total and thus it scored an impressive 4 stars. Now compared to that this is almost unacceptable, while the European variant is offered with 6 airbags the Latin American version which is priced almost the same gets no airbags at all.

While in regards to child occupancy, the Latin NCAP was surprised that the child restraint system was faced forward by General Motors for a child belonging to age group of 18 months. The global tendency however is to keep the child restraint faced rearward as much as possible. Thus this is also definitely not expected from General Motors.

Spec comparison : Maruti-Suzuki Celerio Diesel vs Chevrolet Beat Diesel

Spec comparison : Maruti-Suzuki Celerio Diesel vs Chevrolet Beat Diesel

In a country where people break coconuts, and pray to god when they buy and bring a new car home, and while they almost worship their car, it is quite expected, that those people want their car right; as we say; from head to toe.

In recent times small passenger vehicles or rather say compact hatchbacks has done quite well in the great Indian automotive race, as people of this country looks for a car which will serve their purpose for daily commuting, highway drives at occasional weekends, as well as they expect this car to give an extensive mileage, as many people mockingly say, the first thing an Indian buyer asks in the showroom, “How much does it give (Mileage)?” Apart from that, the present generation of automobile customers’ looks for another thing, which is automatic transmission, as driving through congested Indian roads needs a person quite some skills and experience to drive properly with constantly shifting gears.

In this segment Maruti Suzuki Celerio has done quite well in recent times, as it came with a technology Automated Manual Transmission (AMT), which is a good alternative of conventional automatic transmission system. A few months back Maruti Suzuki launched the diesel version of Celerio, although it came with manual gear box, but still this diesel variant managed to be popular, as the name Celerio was already in the mind of people at large, and a diesel powered car is always hot favourite for common Indian people, as the fuel is cheaper than petrol and thus the fuel economy saves quite a few extra bucks.

The prime competitor for Celerio diesel is basically one and only Chevrolet Beat diesels, as these are two small diesel hatches in Indian market with a compact budget. And Celerio is practically the most loved hatchback of the country.

Here we tried to bring our readers a quick look at the spec sheet based comparison review between these two small diesel powered hatchbacks.

Chevrolet To Launch Compact Sedan Based on the New Beat

We were all little disappointed with Chevrolet for not launching the Beat hatchback yet but definitely Chevrolet has some big plans. As the compact sedan segment is popularly growing in our market and like many other auto manufacturer, Chevrolet too has plans to launch a new compact sedan in this segment to take on the other competitions.

Their new notchback will be based on their upcoming Beat hatchback, and just every other car of its segment this too will be a sub-4 metre offering and thus will reap the excise benefits, which will also help them to price it aggressively. Just like the hatchback, the notchback too will be based on the M300 platform.

As far as its styling is concerned, just like any other compact sedan the Beat sedan too will take most of its styling inspiration from the soon to be launched new generation Beat hatchback. Almost every component of the notchback will be shared with the Beat hatchback including the drivetrain. You can expect the soon to be launched Beat hatchback will be launched in the Indian market with the 1.0-litre, three cylinder petrol unit which has been tuned for better fuel efficiency. New 2016 Chevrolet Spark Launch Cancelled For India; New Beat To Be Based On The Available Hatch

Today we have got some bad news for you all according to the report Chevrolet won’t be launching the new Spark (A.K.A Beat) in India but don’t get extremely disappointed because Chevrolet will definitely launch a new generation Beat in the Indian market which will be based on the current generation Beat hatchback platform available in the Indian market.

According to the Chevrolet the new generation Spark which was unveiled couple of months ago is based on the new M2 platform which is mainly targeted towards the developed markets of the World and hence will prove too costly for the Indian market as it is a developing market. As a result the cost structure which is required to build the new Chevrolet Spark/Beat will be too high to make it work for markets such as India which actually is a very cost competitive market.

But because the current Beat is also ageing and its competitors are definitely taking on the market by storm, Chevrolet decided to introduce a new generation Beat which will be based on the M300 platform which is actually used by the current generation Beat. Now the reports also states that that the next generation Beat which although will be based on the old platform will share lot of its components from the new generation Spark which was introduced in the International market. Just to give you an idea the new generation Beat which will be launched in the Indian market will borrow the same infotainments system from the new International Spark which also comes with a 7 inch touchscsreen.

2014 Chevrolet Beat

When Chevrolet first launched the hatch Beat in the Indian market it attracted huge attention from the people because back then it was a wild and aggressive looking small hatch. Its overall size, shape and stature were absolutely perfect for our urban roads.

The Beat had huge headlamps and funky styling on its exterior while inside it received sporty touch which definitely attracted the young generation and the first time car buyers. But somehow Chevrolet Beat’s glory in the Indian market was short lived and its rivals started launching their own products which came with a more practical and spacious interior, fuel efficient engine and also was priced quite aggressively at the same time.

This facelift Beat too received minor cosmetic upgrades both on its exterior and interior, however open the front hood and inside it you will find the same 1.0 Liter XSDE diesel engine while the petrol version is powered by the S-TEC II powertrain, but does these powertrains now deliver more power and torque amount? You will definitely get all your answers once you go through this entire review of the facelift 2014 Chevrolet Beat.
