2016 Chevrolet Cruze
We were quite excited when we saw Chevrolet unveiled the new generation Cruze and it also went on sale in some International market at the same time. Unfortunately we came to know that General Motors has no plan of introducing the new generation sedan in the Indian market this year instead they are planning to launch a facelift variant of their existing 2014 model year Cruze during the first half of 2016.
Now don’t expect too many changes on the facelift variant of the new Cruze because Chevrolet already launched the 2014 model year not so long ago and this sedan received few exterior cosmetic upgrades along with some interior changes as well. The Cruze which was introduced in the Indian market back in 2009 is definitely one popular car in its segment mainly because of its muscular styling and that powerful 2.0 Litre diesel engine which produces the maximum power and torque output in its class.
As far as the upcoming facelift Cruze is concerned we although do not have much details about the sedan at this moment but surely we can give you an idea of what you could expect from the car. We are pretty sure that the facelift Cruze won’t definitely get any changes under its hood and thus you can expect the same 2.0 Litre diesel motor to power the soon to be launched facelift model as well.
Update 24.02.2016:- Chevrolet slashed the prices of the facelift Chevrolet Cruze that they introduced recently and we have updated the review with the new prices

Like we already mentioned you before do not expect way too many changes on the exterior of this facelift model and now when it is finally out infront of the public it is quite evident that Chevrolet did actually wanted to mess much with the overall design of this diesel sedan.
However towards the front the Cruze gets a restyled front grille which comes with rounded edges, there are no changes made to the headlamps either. The only noticeable changes to the front come in the form of new LED daytime running lamps which are positioned just above the fog lamp surrounds. The other noticeable change to the front is the restyled low lip. The rest of the car looks identical to the pre-facelift variant except the lower profile does gets an integrated spoiler on the boot lid.
Just like the exterior the interior too gets mild updates but the major update however comes in the form of new 7 inch MY-LINK Touchscreen Infotainment System which gets integrated Sticher SmartRadio, Grace Note and free compatibility to stream audio from Smartphone via Bluetooth. The other features include voice recognition controls and touch controls to actually control personalization settings for the vehicles.
The cockpit gets its inspiration from the Camaro however the new changes to the facelift cars cabin besides the new infotainment system includes new multifunction steering wheel which comes covered in leather. The rest of the interior definitely looks spacious although much cannot be said about the rear seats though but the facelift Cruze interior definitely looks updated and the premium black interiors definitely takes things a notch above than the rest.
Under the hood do not expect any changes though and thus expect the facelift Chevrolet Cruze gets the same 2.0 litre VCDi diesel engine, displacing 1, 998 cc, this engine is capable of producing about 166 PS of peak power at 3800 rpm and an impressive 380 Nm of torque at 2000 rpm. The engine is paired to a 6 speed manual as well as an optional 6 speed automatic gearbox.
GM claims that the manual gearbox is capable of returning about 17.3 kmpl while the automatic gearbox is capable of returning about 14.8 kmpl.
RIDE AND HANDLING
There are no other mechanical changes expect the cosmetic upgrades and thus the Cruze diesel sedan still uses gas-charged McPherson strut type suspension setup on its front and U-shaped suspension with torsion beams, gas-charged shock. This suspension setup is capable of taking on the bumps and bruises on the Indian roads quite efficiently.
The Chevrolet Cruze gets plenty of safety features as well which includes Dual Airbags for both the driver as well front passenger, while it also gets ABS as well, the top end variants also gets side airbags as well.

Toyota has showcased the new Corolla Altis at the 2014 Auto expo and launched it in Indian market in the month of May 2014. The Corolla Altis definitely looks more premium than the earlier car the front end gets chiseled fascia and lots of chrome. The sedan is offered with both diesel as well as a petrol engine. The petrol engine on offer is a 1.8 Litre unit which is capable of producing about 140 Ps of peak power while the 1.3 Litre diesel engine on offer is capable of producing about 87 Bhp of peak power which is mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox.
There is no doubt in the fact that the Chevrolet Cruze definitely is one powerful diesel sedan available in the Indian market today. The 2.0 Litre powerful diesel motor under its hood provided enough juice to keep the driver happy both inside the city traffic and on the highways at the same time. The Cruze also gets both automatic as well manual transmission options which actually will appeal to different person with different taste.
The new facelift sedan will definitely be showcased at the 2016 Auto expo and we will provide all the images and details from the Auto show.
