What To Expect From The Upcoming Ford Ecosport Compact SUV

Now there have been rumours surrounding the upcoming Ford Ecosport facelift while some are saying that Ford will be introducing the new facelift Ecosport which was showcased at the 2016 New York Auto show towards the second half of this year while other are saying that Ford will add some new features to the pre-facelift compact SUV and will launch it first before they introduce the new facelift SUV.
Whatever be the case the good news is that we are getting the new facelift compact SUV which will replace the current SUV by this year only. Coming back to the reports of Ford making some changes to the pre-facelift compact SUV and will sell it in the Indian market until and unless the new Ecosport is introduced.

PRE-FACELIFT ECOPORT UPDATES
According to the latest reports Ford will be unveiling the pre-facelift Ecosport with new features. The car will be launched in between the period of February to March 2017 and will be priced slightly higher than the current prices because of the additional features.
Now coming to the additional features expected on the current Ecosport the compact SUV will get a completely new touchscreen infotainment system. The completely new touchscreen system is available only with the 1.5 TDCi and 1.0L EcoBoost Titanium+ variants.
The touchscsreen system appears to be a custom infotainments system. This 8 inch touchscreen system features satellite navigation, DVD player, rear view camera and also door ajar warning. However at the same time Ford has also decided to remove many of the existing features from across the entire range.
The Trend variant now misses out on rear defogger, package tray, reclini9ng rear seat, fabric in door arm rest, passenger seat storage box etc. The Trend+ variant on the other hand misses out on passenger seat storage box, reclining rear seats, 60/40 rear seats etc. While the Titanium and Titanium+ variants misses out the lumber support, passenger cooled bin glove box, leather gear shift knob, drover seat arm rest and many more.
For the safety of the passengers inside the Ecosport gets 6 airbags along with ABS and EBD.
The powertrain options remains unchanged and thus the pre-facelift ECosport gets two gasoline engine option and a single diesel engine options under its hood.
2017 FORD ECOSPORT
Now according to the latest reports Ford will introduce the facelift Ecosport which was showcased at the 2016 New York Auto show. Apart from the new design the facelift compact SUV also gets some serious interior upgrades as well.
Talk about changes and the facelift Ecosport surely gets plenty. To begin with the SUV gets a redesigned front face which includes a new headlamp cluster, new grille and also a new bumper and integrated fog lamps. The US Spec variant does not get a spare wheel while expect the Indian spec variant to get the spare wheel hinged to the rear door. Just like the exterior the interior too receives several updates as well. The facelift Ecosport gets a completely new dashboard which houses the new touchscreen infotainment system which is integrated with Ford’s new SYNC3 system. The compact SUV also gets a completely new steering wheel and also a new and updated instrument cluster. With the help of the new system the owner can now locate even start and lock their SUV from almost anywhere.
While the US Spec Ford Ecosport gets the 1.0 Liter , three cylinder turbocharged Ecoboost unit, there will also be slightly more powerful 2.0 Liter unit as well.
The Indian spec variant will mo0st likely continue with the same 1.5 Litre petrol and diesel motors and also the powerful 1.0 Liter three cylinder Ecoboost unit is capable of producing about 125 Ps of peak power and 170 Nm of torque. Transmission options for the Ecosport will remain the same; it will continue with the same 5 speed manual while there will also be an optional six-speed dual clutch PowerShift automatic transmission available as well with this engine.
