A sophisticated yet powereful car which can give Ferrari and Lamborghini some serious competition

Mclaren inevitably attracted a lot of crowd at the 2017 Geneva Motor show when they unveiled the second generation Super Series. The 720S which was unveiled at the show will replace the 650S and will sit below the P1. The car was codenamed P14 and is not only a price of art but also is practical and performance oriented at the same time. I mean look at the front or the rear profile of the 720S, this thing looks serene from every possible angle, but this also is Mclaren’s stunning new interpretation of design language and their dedication towards aerodynamic principles.

This car has a whole new design and everything looks nothing exactly like what we are used to seeing in a Mclaren. The headlight design towards the front is all new one and will perhaps slightly remind you of the Mclaren logo, the headlamp unit, in particular, is an adaptive LED light unit which gets carbon fibre surround. The lower portion of the headlamp unit has a duct for cooling. The lower front profile has an air duct which channels all the cool air from the lower portion of the car towards the side profile. Walk towards the side profile and these big air intakes surely looks purposeful there is another air cooling duct positioned towards the lower portion of the car. The first thing which will draw your attention towards the rear profile of the car Is the new Aerowing which helps in braking as well as creating downforce in normal driving conditions. The slash cut shaped exhaust system looks almost identical to the 675 LT exhaust, but this one is lighter. The new car uses Carbon fibre chassis based on Monocage II and is 40 kilograms lighter than its predecessor. The Mclaren 720S weighs 1,283kg.

Inside the cabin, things look beautiful and neat, the roof on top gets covered with glass, so you get an around visibility of your surroundings. The cabin surrounded in leather and although the seats in particular made out of carbon fibre but they are comfortable and nicely wrapped in leather. The instrument cluster has two different modes including a track as well as street mode. Once the track mode is selected the instrument cluster rotates and displays minimal information that one needs, this according to Mclaren will help focus on driving while the other mode provides you with all the information that one needs about the car. The car also has a luggage storing capability of 210 Litres inside the cabin which is quite acceptable keeping in mind the fact that this is a sports car. The minimalistic yet stylish design interiors look impressive and remind you of the P1 sometimes.

The 720S powered by a mid-mounted twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine produces 720PS and 770Nm, with a power-to-weight ratio of up to 561PS per tonne. Talk about performance and these is the new guy in town who can give some serious competition to the Ferrari and Lamborghini. When we talk about specs and rivals, let me also inform you that the 720S is capable of sprinting from 0-100 km/h mark in 2.9 seconds and can hit a top speed of 341 km/h mark. The suspension system is also new and is one of the most advanced system you will find in a sports car.

Unfortunately, there is still some time for Mclaren to enter the Indian market but worldwide deliveries of the new 720S will start from mid-May 2017.
