The Model S may have instantaneous torque, but the RS6 Avant has 200 horses more!
The Audi RS6 Avant is a beast. You don’t see family haulers that fast these days. In the stock form, it sprints to 96 kmph from rest in 3.6 seconds. So, to see how quick it actually is on a drag strip, the folks at ‘Hoonigan’ pit it against the Tesla Model S. Both the vehicles aren’t stock. The RS6 Avant comes with a Stage 1 mod whereas the Model S is modified by Unplugged Performance. Which car do you have your money on?
How Much Power Do They Make?
In the stock form, the Audi RS6 Avant makes 591 horsepower. In this tuned version, however, it puts out 700 ponies, courtesy of a Stage 1 mod. Power is sent to all the wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. It isn’t a light vehicle per se as it weighs 2,495 kilos.
The Tesla Model S comes with a motor mounted on each axle. They make 503 horsepower combined. It is an all-wheel-drive system, obviously. The Model S is surprisingly lighter, weighing in at 1,590 kilos.
How Did They Do In The Races?
The RS6 Avant and the Model S got together for a 1,000-feet sprint. The Model S Apex won that by the nose despite the Audi jumping the line. For the second round, they decided to let the RS6 Avant get a head start. But, the Model S driver took a little too much time to react which resulted in it losing a fairly big margin.
For the third race, the Tesla was down on battery and that would make for a level playing field. Also, they decide to make it a 1,500-feet race. The Model S won this round to give it a 2-1 win over its internal combustion-engined rival.
