Toyota finds ‘Diesel ban’ solution with petrol Innova Crysta
Toyota Innova Crysta petrol will launch on 1st August
Toyota launched the new Innova Crysta few months back. The Innova Crysta has been the biggest launch of the year till date. The car first made its appearance at the 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo earlier this year in February. Later in May, Toyota Kirloskar Motors launched the second generation Innova dubbed as Innova Crysta in Indian market. Within very short time after launch the car pulled plenty of customer bookings.
The car was launched with two diesel engine options, with one being 2.4 litre unit and another is an even larger 2.8 litre diesel engine. Meanwhile the Delhi government’s ban on 2000 cc and above diesel engines created trouble for the huge automaker. In Delhi and NCR the car couldn’t sell. Later in Kerala also due to the ban on 2000 cc and above diesel engines by NGT Toyota had to stop selling the Innova Crysta. No wonder, which impacted hard on the Japanese automaker’s sales figure in Indian market.
But now the automaker is all set to introduce a petrol version of the Innova Crysta, which will significantly help the Toyota in regions like Delhi, NCR and Kerala, where the diesel ban is in effect. Here, we will take a look at the facts and details about the Innova Crysta Petrol.
IS IT DIFFERENT LOOKING?
No. It’s just a fuel variant. Not an entirely new version. There the Toyota Innova Crysta petrol will come bearing the same design, same features, and same dimensions, like the diesel sibling. The Innova Crysta comes with a mu7ltifunction steering wheel, dual analog dial and a TFT display consisting instrument cluster, a large touchscreen infotainment system, height adjustable seats. The dashboard sports wooden trims, which enhances the appeal and make the car premium looking. The second row of the car gets captain seats instead of a long seat, and both the seats come with individual cup holders, front desk. The Toyota Innova Crysta is very spacious, and the petrol variant is no different.
WHAT WILL BE THE POWER SOURCE
The petrol variant of the Toyota Innova Crysta will receive a single engine under the hood, which is a 2.7 litre inline four cylinder engine mated to a 5 speed manual transmission and a 6 speed automatic gearbox as option. It will churn out 164 bhp of peak power at 5200 rpm and 250 Nm of peak torque at 4000 rpm. Toyota offers the same engine in Middle Eastern countries for the new generation Innova. On the other hand, the diesel Innova Crysta is available in two different engine options, which are a 2.4 litre GD diesel engine, and a 2.8 litre GD engine.
WHAT WOULD BE THE PRICING

It can be assumed, that the Delhi, NCR and Kerala region will receive the most of the petrol variant bookings for the new Innova Crysta, as these regions are suffering from the ban on 2000 cc and above diesel engines, and the Innova Crysta diesel is also covered under the ban.
