Is Toyota’s decision motivated by Ford Endeavour’s success?

Toyota Fortuner is one of the most popular SUV in India. The Japanese automaker is all set to launch their facelift Fortuner in the country. Earlier it was speculated that the automaker will launch the Fortuner later in 2017, but, as it seems the company is considering the launch in this year only, which is suspected as an effect of the success of Ford’s new Endeavour, which has seen pretty much success post launch in Indian market compare to the previous generation model.

Indian customers are generally known for being passionate towards the SUVs. Toyota officials revealed that their next big launch after the Innova Crysta will be the Fortuner. Incidentally, the Innova Crysta is scheduled to launch on 3rd May, 2016. Therefore the new Fortuner is expected to hit the showrooms by the end of 2016. Chevrolet launched their Trailblazer in Indian market, later Ford already launched the Endeavour with significant success. This has already made the market segment tougher for the new Fortuner. So the Japanese automaker doesn’t want to waste to waste anymore time. The new Fortuner dons a refreshed appearance with more upmarket and polished fascia, which gets lots of chrome embellishment. The interior also gets several updates. The power source for this car will be a 2.4 litre GD engine and a 2.8 litre GD engine under the hood. The transmission duties will be done by both manual and automatic gearboxes. Moreover, Toyota Fortuner has already received highest level of safety rating in the Latin NCAP crash tests few days, which will take its game up.
