Crossovers based on hatchbacks are getting more attention than the normal hatchbacks
The compact hatchbacks are certainly a very popular and widely selling segment in Indian market, which is now seeing a new trend. Several automakers are introducing the crossovers based on popular hatchbacks. At the 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo earlier this year automakers like Chevrolet, Tata Motors and Volkswagen showcased new crossover based on the hatchbacks like Beat, Tiago and the Polo respectively.
All these three hatchback based crossovers are set to launch in the country in a few months. The car is powered by a range of engines which comprise both the petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine is a 1.2 litre SMARTECH engine mated to a 5 speed manual transmission, while the diesel variant is powered by the 1.0 litre SMARTECH engine paired with 5 speed manual gearbox. Both the engines are derived from the next generation Chevrolet Beat, and these engines are pretty fuel efficient and peppy on performance.
