This is how the Tata Punch looks in action

We drove the much awaited Punch yesterday in Delhi including off the road sections

Though there is an embargo on reviews and opinions till the 9th of October, we wanted to show you images of the Punch in motion. We drove it on soft trails (manual, petrol) and more details will be shared here later this week. Enjoy the images!

Tata revealed the Punch a few days back and we drove both the manual and AMT versions yesterday. Delhi’s super hot and humid weather aside, the wait for this micro SUV has been worth it I say. I am keen on sharing my opinion and answering all your questions soon but for that you will have to wait till the 9th October. That said, here are some images and as you can see, I did have my share of grinning moments. Both the colour options you see here are the top spec variants.

The Punch gets the same 1.2-litre petrol engine that powers the Tiago and the Tigor. However, the engine has seen some revisions and I will share the details later this week. Power and torque outputs remain unchanged. It also gets the same AMT gearbox but revisions to the tuning and gear ratios. Pricing of this Mahindra KUV100 & Maruti Ignis rival will be shared later this month by Tata Motors. Bookings however are now open and deliveries too will start this month. We expect the Punch to carry a sub Rs 5 lakh pricing, therefore offering terrific value for money.

While Tata Motors will not offer a diesel engine in the Punch, we are sure they will get in the turbo option (of the same engine..) very soon. With added power and torque, the Punch will definitely win enthusiasts’ hearts as well. The turbo version will also come with body colour coded inserts on the inside and sportier looking upholstery.

Crazy experience we had but was it confidence inspiring? Watch this space on the 9th..

We also had a chance to sample the car on a specially made off-road track as visible in pictures here. On paper itself the Punch is the most capable in its price segment and the same was demonstrated on the this track. Apologies, can’t share how it fared till the embargo lifts off but again, the pictures do end giving you a fair hint!
