What is Rolls Royce Spirit of Innovation aircraft?

Rolls-Royce claims that the Spirit of Innovation is a 400 kWh or roughly 500 horsepower electric aircraft. It gets the most power-dense battery pack ever assembled for an aircraft. Rolls-Royce revealed that there are 6,480 battery cells in the battery pack, which can power 7,500 smartphones.

Rolls-Royce has not shared any plan of taking the Spirit of Innovation to production yet

In September, the Spirit of Innovation completed its maiden flight in the UK. However, Rolls-Royce did not share the speed data at that time.

The data from first-ever flight never came out though

The Spirit of Innovation has completed multiple flights since its first test flight. The data suggests that it has become the world’s fastest electric aircraft or the world’s fastest electric vehicle ever.

The company has submitted the data of three new world record attempts for verification to the World Air Sports Federation. On November 16th the aircraft reached a top speed of 345.4 mph or about 570 kmph over 3 km. It travelled for 15 km with an average of 330 mph or 551 kmph to create the second record. The third record is the aircraft climbing to 3,000 metres in just 202 seconds.

Faster than any other electric vehicle

While setting the records, the Speed of Innovation recorded a top speed of 387.4 mph or about 623 kmph. It makes the aircraft much faster than Team Vesco’s Revolt Little Giant set a land speed record of 353.87 mph to become the world’s fastest electric vehicle.

While Rolls-Royce may take away that position but a car that fast on land is nerve-wracking stuff. The world of electric vehicles has just started to come out. With innovation and progress, it is an indication of a pretty fast future.
