As the competition is heating up Toyota has sparked rumors that they are working on the new generation Fortuner, it was caught being tested couple of times wrapped in heavy camouflage but perhaps this is the first unofficial images of SUV without a camouflage. You can all expect the next generation SUV to debut at the 2016 Auto expo which will be held in Delhi next year.

From these images it is quite evident that the new-gen SUV has lost a lot of its muscle and looks more sleek and dynamic and more in par with the design language that Toyota is adopting for their current off-roaders. From the images you can notice that the front of the SUV will carry a new V shaped twin slat grille which will have some chrome finish to it, while the now stretched sharper projector headlamp units gives a sporty appearance to the front. The front lower bumper also looks new and blends perfectly with the front grille while the lower front bumper also comes with integrated daytime running lamps which you will find in almost every other vehicle nowaday.

However we love the fact that Toyota has not actually taken away all the muscular appeal of the SUV and the side itself is a live example of that, the wheel arches looks big and the 12 spoke alloy wheels which fill up the wheel arches looks smart and stylish. Towards the rear we love what Toyota has done to the C-Pillar of the Fortuner and just like the present vehicle expect the new Fortuner to get the same floating D-pillar.

The new Fortuner will be built on Toyotas International Multi-purpose Vehicle (IMV) platform and thus will be using the same ladder frame chassis. While under the hood expect the Fortuner to carry the same diesel and petrol engine options from the current generation Fortuner.
