Skoda Rapid facelift spied for the first time
Is expected to launch during the festive season this year
Skoda India has not been particularly busy of late and there hardly has been any new product from the Czech manufacturer the past year. That is about to change as the first spyshot featuring the updated Skoda Rapid has been taken courtesy of Motorbeam.
The snaps taken show the test mule in a white shade and an overall sharper design. The website reports that the front bumper, front fenders, bonnet, headlights and grille are all new. The front portion is where majority of the changes have taken place with the rear and sides looking the same as before. However the changes seen on the test car show that the styling update has made the sedan look more mature and it does have a certain appeal to it. The interior has not been snapped but will probably receive some design changes and equipment upgrades as well.
On the mechanical front, the sedan will likely continue with the same set of engines as before, which are 1.6-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel units. The current oilburner produces an output of 103 bhp but this might increase, as parent company Volkswagen will be introducing a larger turbo in the next step towards higher localization of their diesel engine.
Expected to launch in the festive season, the Skoda Rapid facelift will be competing with the Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the Honda City.
