Since the beginning of July, we were watching various cars coming to the Indian market fray with much hypes as well as high expectations too. A few days ago we saw premium hatchback Honda Jazz, compact SUV Hyundai Creta made quite a few large headlines around the automobile industry. We guess that trend is all set to roll for quite some time in coming few months, as there are many more automobile launches scheduled to take place in India.
As the August is all set to roll out from calendar, we are about to see a few interesting car launches in the form of Maruti Suzuki’s much discussed crossover S-Cross, high performance premium compact Fiat Abarth 595 Competizione, Ford Figo Aspire and of course the legendary Volkswagen Beetle in an all new super stylish avatar.
Here we would like to take a look at quick and short summary of the upcoming cars of August.
Maruti Suzuki S-Cross
While Renault Duster and Ford Ecosport is reigning the compact SUV segment of Indian automobile market, and the newly launched Hyundai Creta is all set to take on this two along with taking a top edge, Maruti Suzuki also trying to get the fare share of this highly competitive segment with their upcoming car S-Cross.
Originally built on the SX4 platform, which didn’t make good money in India, this car will come in the form of crossover which will be partly hatchback with a design of tough and bold looking compact SUV. Although as per styling and looks, it doesn’t come too attractive, but the real attraction of this car is the spacious interior, which is definitely premium. With a 810 liters of boot space (with rear seats folded) it’s definitely class leading.
This car will be sold in two diesel variants, a 1.6 liter DDiS 320 churning 118 bhp power and 320 Nm torque, and the other variant will sport a smaller 1.3 liter DDiS 200 unit producing 89 bhp peak power and 200 Nm of torque. S-Cross will come aggressively priced between Duster and Ecosport at a range of 8-10 lakh.
Fiat Abarth 595 Competizione
There is always a plan B for any marketing strategist, applicable for the auto manufacturers too. Few years ago Fiat brought the Fiat 500 hatchback here, which practically failed to impress people, thanks to a high price tag, but this time Fiat is all set to go the same way, with a different strategy of course, and they are bringing their new compact cool hatchback this August.
Fiat will bring the high performance Abarth 595 Competizione, in small number, but with expectation to make a mark with its cool speedy feature. This car is very much expensive, but generation next wants value for their money, which are some cool stuff, impressive speed etc. This car is pretty much like that. With high expense it brings you a really cute and cool look, sporty features, very much impressive speed.
As this car is basically made for speeding on tracks, it comes with a powerful engine which is a 1368 cc turbocharged four cylinder petrol unit capable to produce 160 PS maximum power and 230 Nm torque matched with a five speed manual gearbox with an option for automatic transmission too. The only thing which can make this car take a hit is the price tag, which is in between 27 lakh to 30 lakh.
Ford Figo Aspire
The sub four meter sedan segment is also one of the red hot segments of Indian market, just like the compact SUV and small hatchback segments. Ford has given us very few models to talk about, and they are all set to roll out their compact sedan Figo Aspire this August, which is already taking pretty attractive notes from people.
First shown in 2014 Auto Expo, this car generated popularity, and now it’s time for the acid test in reality. Ford already revealed the pictures of this car, and this will be the American auto manufacturer’s debut attempt in compact sedan segment in Indian market. The looks are impressive with the Aston Martin grilles in front, and the entire body looks quite sleek.
This car will come with both petrol and diesel variants, with 2 in petrol and one in diesel. The base petrol variant will sport 1.2 liter Ti-VCT unit matched with 5 speed manual gearbox producing 88 PS power and 112 Nm torque with a fuel efficiency of 18.6 kmpl, while the top end variant will come with a 1.5 liter Ti-VCT unit matched with 6 speed automatic transmission with capability of 112 PS power and 136 Nm torque along with a fuel economy rate of 17.2 kmpl. Notably, this diesel engine is the same powering Ecosport, but with a few tweaks, as we heard.
Volkswagen New Beetle
One of the most legendary cars of all time; Volkswagen Beetle has traveled long roads. Since the Second World War era, it has impressed the people all around the world. Although the original version is in the chapters history now, but the legacy is still on, in the name of new Beetle.
In 2009 Volkswagen brought the Beetle to India, although the business figure was sore due to the high pricing. In 2012 though it was the star of Auto Expo, and coming August new Beetle is all set to hit the Indian shores. Built on Volkswagen Golf platform this is the third generation model of the legendary car.
Although we don’t know the exact detail of the powertrain of 2015 Beetle, but the 2012 version was powered by 2.0 liter turbocharged four cylinder TDI cleaned diesel engine with capability of 140 PS power and 236 Nm torque.
