Mercedes Benz GLC has been derived from the GLK Class, and the new car was launched in India on 2nd June

Mercedes Benz has taken an aggressive strategy in its expansion and marketing plan for India. The German luxury automaker has launched several models in recent past in the country, which include both the facelift models and the fresh new models. Now the famed automaker launched the GLC luxury SUV in India on 2nd June, 2016, which marks the entry of the all new model in the country. The GLC has been derived from the GLK. The luxury SUV bears the features like GL Class, while it is premium and luxurious at interior bearing resemblances with the C Class. Therefore the nomenclature stands out as the GLC.

The new Mercedes Benz GLC is a bit longer than the C Class. The car is set to take on the rivals like Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Volvo XC60. Incidentally, the Mercedes Benz GLC stands longer than all its competitors. The Mercedes Benz GLC sits closest to the Audi Q5 on the power and torque front.

The petrol variant of the car receives power from a 2.0 litre engine which generates 245 hp of peak power at 5500 rpm and 370 Nm of peak torque between 1300 rpm to 4000 rpm. The bigger diesel engine is a 3.0 litre V6 turbo diesel engine which churns out 248 hp of peak power and 578 Nm of peak torque. On the other hand the petrol engine is a 2.0 litre turbo unit 224 hp of peak power and 350 Nm of peak torque.

If we talk about look in comparison, the Mercedes Benz GLC is much better looking compare to the Audi Q5. It is bolder, muscular and stylish compare to the Audi Q5’s boxy design. On the power and performance front the Mercedes Benz GLC has edge in petrol segment, while in the diesel segment the Audi has better edge.
