Maruti To Launch Three New Cars In India In Coming Months
The three new launches include two facelift cars and another completely new offering
Maruti surely has planned a series of launches for the year 2017, they already introduced the sportier Baleno RS and the new generation Dzire, and now they are planning to launch some more products before the end of this financial year. The already launched cars include the Baleno RS which is the sportier variant of the existing Baleno hatchback powered by a new 1.0 Litre Boosterjet unit. The Dzire, on the other hand, is a new generation sub-4m sedan which is based on an entirely new platform and also gives us a glimpse of the new generation Swift hatchback.
Now according to the recent reports Maruti has also planned three new products for the year 2017 out of this three new cars two will receive mid-life facelift while the other one will be a new generation car.
Below provided are the list of cars which will be launched by Maruti Suzuki in the next couple of months
Maruti is all set to launch the facelift S-Cross soon in India during this festive season. The Crossover was already unveiled in the markets of Europe last year, and now the recent reports suggest that it will be launched here during the festive season. What is even more interesting is also the fact that the Crossover was already spied in India. The car will still be sold through their Nexa outlets after its launch.
The changes to the facelift Crossover will stick mostly to cosmetics. The front profile gets a new chrome grille which replaces the old grille. The redesigned headlamps too look sharp now and get integrated projector lamps and LED daytime running lights. Towards the side profile, the Crossover also gets plastic body claddings, and new diamond cut alloy wheels. The Crossover further also gets side turn indicators integrated into the ORVM’s and also newly designed taillamps towards the rear. Inside expect the Crossover also to feature a refurbished cabin as well which will get new upholstery, tweaked instrument cluster and perhaps a new touchscreen infotainment system.
Under the hood, Maruti won’t be adding any new drivetrains and thus expect the S-Cross to continue with the same 1.3-litre DDIS 4-cylinder diesel unit while they have decided to discontinue the more powerful 1.6 Litre diesel unit. The engine will be paired to the 5-speed manual transmission; there is a possibility that Maruti might add the AMT transmission as well with this facelift variant.
Maruti launched the Celerio almost three years ago in India, and since then it hasn’t received any significant changes. The Celerio was one of the first Maruti cars to feature an AMT transmission. Now after almost three years since its launch Maruti has decided to give the hatchback it’s much-needed facelift. This will be the mid-life facelift that the car will get and thus expect some cosmetic upgrades to the exterior as well as interior.
Regarding cosmetic updates, the Celerio will most probably get a restyled headlamps and grille towards the front. It will also feature DRL headlights as well towards the front profile. Just like the front profile the side profile of the new hatchback will feature side indicators integrated into the ORVM’s blacked out A and B pillars. Towards the side profile, the hatchback will feature a roof spoiler and newly designed taillamps as well. Just like the exterior expect the interior to also be revamped as well. The interior might feature a touchscreen infotainment system, new seat upholstery and black detailing.
There won’t be any changes under the hood though and thus expect the Celerio to carry forward the same 1.0 litre, three-cylinder petrol unit which produces about 67 bhp of peak power and 90 Nm of torque. There is also a CNG variant offered as well.
This will perhaps be the biggest launch of 2017 from Maruti’s end; the all new Swift was unveiled last year. The reports state that the hatchback will be unveiled infront of the public at the 2018 Auto Expo and will go on sale thereafter. The new hatchback just like its sedan variant is based on a completely new platform which also underpins the Baleno hatchback as well.
The hatchback will look identical to the Dzire sub-4m sedan and will get the same kind of styling as well. Towards the front profile, the Swift gets a smaller headlamp unit while the lower variant gets halogen units the top end will feature projector units with DRL lamps. On the inside, the dashboard of the Swift will not be identical to that of the Dzire but will feature the same touchscreen infotainment system and flat-bottomed steering wheel.
Under the hood, the Dzire will get the same 1.2 Litre K series petrol and 1.3 Litre diesel unit which powers the Dzire sub-4m sedan. Both the drivetrains will get a 5-speed manual transmission as an option along with an optional AMT transmission on offer as well with both diesel and petrol variants.
