Only recently we have informed you that Maruti will be launching the Diesel variant of their popular Celerio hatchback and we also did inform all of you that the diesel variant of this popular hatch will be getting a newly in house developed 793 cc two cylinder unit which will be capable of producing about 47 Bhp of peak power at about 3500 rpm and 125 Nm of torque output at 2000 rpm.
Now definitely the power and torque output surely wont impress you much but what will though is this particular hatchbacks fuel efficiency figures. The Celerio diesel will return an impressive ARAI rated fuel efficiency figures of 27.62 km to a litre which will also make this car win the crown of the most fuel efficient Diesel car of the Country (Read the whole story here).
We also have reported earlier that the Celerio diesel will be christened as ’DDIS 125’ (the Celrrio diesel will produce a maximum torque output of 125 Nm and hence the title). Maruti will be launching the Diesel variant on 3rd June 2015 and just like every other Maruti products this diesel variant will also be available in three trim levels namely LDI, VDI and the top end will be called ZDI. This particular engine will come mated to a 5 speed manual transmission.
As far as the exterior or interior updates are concerned, quite honestly do not expect any major changes except some new stickers and badges. However according to the reports the VDI trim of the Celerio will benefit from the addition of ABS feature which was not present in the VXI variant.
The Celerio DDIS 125 will compete directly with the Chevrolet Beat diesel and the Hyundai Grand i10 diesel variants and expect it to be priced in between 4.80-6 Lakh INR.
