The Grand Cherokee is the flagship SUV of the brand that should arrive in India by the end of this year
Jeep revealed the all-new Grand Cherokee SUV in the international market last year. The SUV was spotted testing in India under camouflage and it will arrive in India as a Completely Knocked Unit (CKD) which will bring down the prices.
The American iconic SUV maker - Jeep has started testing the all-new Grand Cherokee on the Indian roads. It was revealed in the international markets only three months ago and now MotorBeam has caught the vehicle testing under a camouflage on the Indian roads.
What is new in the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
Well, everything is new in the all-new Grand Cherokee as it is an all-new model. The new SUV will arrive only in a five-seater version in the Indian market, which means the bigger Grand Cherokee L will not be available here. The new SUV offers a more upright grille with active grille shutters that can open and close when required. There are air curtains and a few other aerodynamic features that no other Jeep ever offered before.
This fifth-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee is based on a brand-new architecture and gets a fresh design inside out. The SUV also offers massive 21-inch wheels depending on the variant. The cabin is nothing like the outgoing Grand Cherokee. It gets leather seats and both the front seats are electrically adjustable and offers massage with heating function.
A 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster sits in the middle of the dashboard whole a 10.1-inch display is positioned in the front of the co-driver. Another 10-inch display works as an instrument cluster and the rear passengers get screens as well.
What powers the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee?
Jeep is likely to offer the 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 293 PS and 352 Nm of peak torque. It gets an 8-speed automatic transmission that sends the power to all four wheels.
Jeep also offers a 4xe plug-in hybrid model with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine assisted by a motor-generator unit. The powertrain produces a combined 375 PS and peak torque of 637 Nm. Jeep is likely to offer the plug-in hybrid in India as well. The plug-in hybrid comes with a 17 kWh battery pack that can standalone power the SUV for 40 km.
2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee to become more affordable
The American manufacturer will assemble the all-new Cherokee in India, which will bring down the price of the luxury SUV. By estimates, it can get a price tag of around Rs 65 lakh. The new SUV will arrive in the showrooms by the festive season this year. Before that, Jeep will bring the Compass Trailhawk facelift and three-row Jeep Meridian as well.
