Get the Details Of India Bound Toyota Fortuner Launching 2016 End Or Early 2017
The new SUV will be offered with two diesel and a single petrol engine option
Toyota is actually taking some time to launch the new generation Fortuner in India. The reason why Toyota was delaying the launch was because of the ban on diesel cars imposed by Government in the Delhi NCR regions. But now that the ban on diesel cars has been lifted you can expect Toyota to introduce the SUV soon in the Indian market. They already launched the new SUV in some ASEAN countries as well as in Australia in 2015. Now according to the reports Toyota will be bringing the new Fortuner which will replace the current model towards the end of this year or in early 2017.
Coming to the new SUV as you all know by now the new generation Fortuner underpins Toyota’s New Global Architecture platform which is shared with the new Innova. The new Fortuner’s test mule was caught couple of times being tested on Indian roads. As far as the styling is concerned the Fortuner gets a more aggressive looking front profile. Towards the front profile the SUV gets a completely new headlamp design followed by aggressive looking bumpers as well. Toyota has also used plenty of chrome elements as well on the vehicle. However the side profile of the SUV looks more or less like the current generation SUV which is already on sale in the Indian market but it gets a different looking window line. The SUV also gets a 17 inch wheels towards the side profile while towards the rear the new SUV also gets a redesigned wraparound taillamp cluster.
Inside things looks a lot different, the previous generation SUV’s cabin looked dated and thus Toyota has completely reworked the new Fortuner’s interior and now it gets a modern looking dashboard and has provided attention to detail. The new Fortuner gets a 7.0 inch touchscreen in the middle of the dashboard while the multifunctional steering wheel unit is also new. As far as the interior space is concerned the new vehicle is also longer and wider than its predecessor.
Coming to the powertrain the new Fortuner will most probably be offered in the Indian market with 2 diesel and a single petrol engine options. The base and mid variants will get the 2.4 Litre, four cylinder GD diesel unit which is capable of producing about 150 Ps of peak power and 340 Nm of torque. The top end trims on the other hand will get the more powerful engine, the 2.8 Litre unit produces about 174 Ps and 360 Nm of torque. The engines will be paired to either a 5 speed manual or a 6 speed automatic transmission. Apart from these diesel options the other engine on offer will be a 2.7 Litre petrol motor which is will definitely make some wave. The petrol unit is capable of producing about 164 ps and 245 Nm of torque. This engine will be paired to a 6 speed automatic transmission.
As far as the pricing is concerned expect the new generation Toyota Fortuner to be priced in between 27-34 Lakhs ex showroom.
