The updated SUV is expected to launch towards the festive season

Motorworld India was able to get the first video of the all new facelift Ford Ecosport while it was being tested on the Indian road. The reports state that the SUV will launch in India towards the end of this year and for all your information this is not exactly a new generation model but is a facelift that Ford has given to their popular compact SUV.

Now, there were not exactly one but two different test mules which were caught testing at the same time. While both the test mules were wrapped in heavy camouflage, the changes that the compact SUV received was quite evident. Both the test mules had received the same changes that the new facelift Ecosport had received when it was first unveiled Infront of the public at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto show.

The facelift Ecosport now features a redesigned trapezoidal grille towards the front; the headlamp design is also new and gets integrated LED daytime running lamps. The redesigned front bumper now gets bigger triangular fog lights. Towards the rear, it gets a redesigned taillamps as well. The wheel design is also new. The facelift Ecosport still retains the tailgate mounted spare wheel which also gets a body coloured wheel cover as well.

Just like the exterior the interior too will get a complete overhaul as well. Although the interior of this test mule was not visible the facelift Ecosport did receive a new three-spoke steering wheel; the redesigned dashboard now will house Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment system or perhaps will get the system from the current generation SUV. Apart from that, the seats will also be redesigned as well, and it will also get a new instrument cluster.

As far as the drivetrains are concerned the updated Ford Ecosport will likely continue with the same 1.5L Ti-VCT petrol, 1.0-litre EcoBoost unit and the single 1.5-litre TDCi engine which powers the pre-facelift model. All the engines are paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard while the optional 6-speed Automatic transmission will remain exclusive to the 1.5 Litre petrol unit only. As far as the fuel efficiency of the facelift Ecosport is concerned to expect it to remain unchanged. The popular SUV promises to return around 15.85 km/L for the 1.5 petrol, 18.88 km/L for the 1.0L EcoBoost unit and 22.27 km/L for the one and only diesel unit.

The Ford Ecosport competes with the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and the Mahindra TUV300. Expect minimal price hike from Ford to keep the overall pricing aggressive.
