The soon to be launched car is the fifth generation Verna which will be introduced in India this coming September. The sedan underpins a new K2 platform which uses better quality steel which is more rigid and will provide better crash protection.

The sedan will get 1.6 Litre petrol and diesel engine options under the hood. These engines promise to return around 120 and 125 Bhp of peak power respectively. These power figures also make the Verna the most powerful car in its segment. Both the drivetrains will be paired to a 6-speed manual transmission while the biggest change in the mechanical font will come in the form of a new 6-speed Automatic transmission. This new Automatic transmission will be replacing the old and clumsy four speed Auto transmission which was available earlier with the old car.

The fifth generation sedan will get a complete styling overhaul both inside and outside. You can expect the redesigned dashboard to get a dual tone treatment while it will also house an entirely new 7-inch infotainment system which will be integrated with AppleCarplay, Android-auto and mirror link connectivity. The top spec variants will also get leather upholstery, sunroof and rear curtains and hands-free rear trunk opening.

The exterior styling, the new Verna is just an evolution of its predecessor, and thus it gets those sharper redesigned headlamps and taillamps and the all new cascading grille inherited from Hyundai’s family. The good news, however, is that the new sedan is longer wider and has a slightly longer wheelbase compared to its predecessor.

Expect the new generation, Verna, to launch towards the month of September like we already mentioned earlier and will be priced quite aggressively keeping its competition the City and Ciaz in mind.
