The ‘Touchscreen infotainment system’ is the latest luxury gadget that the auto manufacturers fit in their cars. Although, there are not plenty of cars which get this feature but still Auto manufacturers know that people love operating touchscreen provided infotainment system in their cars.

The modern touchscreen infotainment system which replaces the standard car stereos mostly combines music players, reverse cameras, car data and navigation. Now the touchscreen featured in some budget cars might not have highly responsive touch sensitive screens like the ones fitted in some premium cars and thus takes some time and patience to operate. As a result of that, the driver might even have to take their eyes off the road to operate these systems and put their fingers in the right place on the screen to work it. Although it may not be safe still people loves this new feature because it adds the premium feel inside the cabin.

The Renault KWID is the only car in its segment to get a media Nav system in the dashboard. This system fitted in the hatchback gets a range of functions which includes navigation with turn by turn voice guidance, Bluetooth audio streaming and hands-free telephony, USB & AUX–input ports. But besides this system also features a speed sensing volume control. But besides the infotainment system, it also gets a digital instrument console as well which is also entirely new for this segment because it also features average fuel consumption, distance to empty and average speed readings as well.

Tata launched the Tigor recently in India, and based on their existing Tiago hatchback. The Tigor also happens to be the only compact sedan in its segment to feature Connection NXT touchscreen infotainment system by Harman. This system gets a 5.0-inch touchscreen which has a little lag but keeping aside the fact the touchscreen offers a lot of functionality. These includes Bluetooth connectivity, Phonebook access, Audio streaming, images and video playback, voice command recognition, etc. There is also a separate app suite as well which one can download on their Android smartphone. This app suit includes Turn-By-Turn Navigation 3D – Navi maps, Juke-Car App, Tata Smart Remote, Tata Emergency Assist, Tata Smart Manual and Tata Service Connect.

Now compared to the KWID and Tigor the Ignis is little expensive, and that is also the reason this is better equipped as well. The Ignis interior features a tab like infotainment screen. The car also gets steering mounted controls which help to keep your eyes on the road and hands on the wheel. The system is compatible with both Android Auto and ios as well. So once connected to the Smartphone one can easily access the google maps, google play music and other music apps. It also gets hands-free social app control as well.

Just like the Ignis the Baleno too features a touchscreen infotainment system as well. This system gets integrated with Apple Car Play system via which one can make calls, send and receive messages, browse music and even can use Siri. The touchscreen also gets Bluetooth, Aux and USB and navigational system as help keep your eyes on the road the Baleno also obtains a steering mounted audio control.

The WR-V is the latest cross hatch to feature an entirely new 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is called Digipad by Honda. This is the same system which is also featured in their new Honda City sedan as well. This Digipad supports some media sources including HDMI & internal storage. Yes! The Digipad is the only system which also has a 1.5 GB of internal memory as well. There is also an onboard satellite satellite-linked navigation system as well. The voice command system and the voice controlled navigation makes driving seamless and secure. Long press the voice control switch and the voice assistant feature of the connected smartphone gets activated. So when you do connect your smartphone you can check the weather, schedule a meeting, send a message on the move. Furthermore, it also offers internet support for live traffic updates, browser and emails. One can connect their Smartphone via the help of MirrorLink system.
